James and Mardy Fish play together when they're in the same events, but James and Thomas ask for wildcards sometimes. i don't think they have much success, though. I don't think Thomas is nearly as good as James.

I've seen the Blake Brothers play once or twice, not sure how well they've ever done, but they seem to enjoy the opportunity.

JanMike doesn't pick his doubles partners at this point. Both his singles and doubles rankings are too low for him to get in, so he signs in at the tournament desk and gets paired up with whomever will work. He did enjoy playing with Robby in San Jose so they asked for the Memphis wildcard and may do so again. Not sure how he feels about playing with Justin this week (but I'm pretty happy about it). J-men, G-men... you've been reading my website haven't you?

if any of you gamblers want a tip how about giovanni lapentti to beat labadze. lapentti has been in red hot form in the challengers for a few months, and labadze can hardly win a match. lapentti cruised past moodie in the opening round, and labadze struggled. lapentti's available at 2.1, although some bookies have him as low as 1.66. only problem is the lack of scores available

Did you guys get on Ancic to def. Flip at 1.44ish? Seems like free money.

Nah, I forgot Youzhny didn't play last night (all the chat in here made me think he did for some reason) and so when I won with Andre and lost with Hrbaty, I was only up 50, so I put in bets on Gio and Pippo. Ancic didn't look too good, but hard to imagine Flip winning two in a row. I don't like betting at those odds too often (with Andre, I saw very little chance of him losing to Feli).

I wish I had my account up for the Gio match... I'm very confident on that one.

That Ancic match is very tempting at around 1.44. I know Ancic struggled in his 1st match... but, I'll assume that was due to the long trip and change in surface.

It was - he was jet-lagged apparently. Obviously he only had a couple of days there to practise so he probably hadn't acclimatised properly or got used to the slower pace either. Scud will make life difficult for him but i expect Mario to win despite not winning either of their two previous encounters.

Yeah sounded like they were in a trailer, lots of idle chit chat going on in the background and she did say "last time I checked". Maybe I should ask her if she is in a trailer, but she'd probably get freaked out that some deranged fan is outside sitting in a tree ready to go cape fear on them :D

LMAO jackie that would be hilarious. Like I said the other day, unless they built a permanent structure (which I doubt) they're probably still in a trailer. A pretty small one with just a couple ticketing computers, as I recall.

I liked this tournament so much though, it's so small and you can get close to the players and see them practice and the clubhouse court is a fantastic tiny court to watch matches. It's too bad their site sucks so much and that it's getting such a bad rap :(

While everyone is waiting for updates....
ok I've had it w/ my online sportsbook (wsex.com - for the last five days you can deposit money, but not withdraw - quite a business model, but they just lost this customer)
I read yesterday some of you were using pinnacle, recommend it?

WSEX is solid and they payout fast, but they rarely have a line that is the best out there and really don't offer anything better than the books out there. Pinnacle is my favorite book. Check out SBR (www.sportsbookreview.com) for reviews of the top books.

Adeegee & Jackie - thanks for the recommendations, both of those sites look good...

WSEX still hasn't paid out a w/drawl I made 2/14, graded 2 tennis bets incorrectly so far this year, and called to tell me I past-posted a big bet that I won when I didn't, telling me "you're telling is you bet x on this player (monfils v gaudio) before the match?" Well, yeah, I did - they wound up paying it, but they basically called me a liar, all of which has added to my frustration - bottom line they just don't do tennis well.

2) I haven't been doing it long at all, but I make my spending money from this. I am a college student who doesn't work, thank god for scholarships, but this is nice extra cash. The key is to be careful as fuck, starting with a small bank, a few false moves and the bank is low as hell, or gone.

Austrian court issues summons to Georgian player in betting probe

By HARRY MILTNER, Associated Press Writer
February 23, 2005
VIENNA, Austria (AP) -- Georgian tennis player Irakli Labadze has been asked to appear in an Austrian court as part of an investigation into alleged match-fixing.

A court in Korneuburg, a town outside Vienna, issued a subpoena for Labadze to offer sworn testimony about his first-round loss to Austria's Julian Knowle at last year's Raiffeisen Grand Prix in St. Poelten.

Knowle, an unseeded doubles specialist, beat the fourth-seeded Labadze 7-5, 4-6, 6-2.

A man identified by the court as a friend of Labadze's, Martin Fuehrer, sued the betting company Cashpoint in Korneuburg when the firm refused to pay $23,000 for a winning bet against the Georgian.

``This was actually one of the best matches I played in 2004 and everyone who was present could tell that I won deservedly,'' Knowle said. ``Any other claims are rubbish.''

Cashpoint alleges that Fuehrer spoke to Labadze before the match on May 17, 2004.

``We have evidence that Mr. Fuehrer knew Labadze was going to lose,'' said Cashpoint spokesman Michael Wondra. ``Under such conditions we cannot accept any bet.''

Labadze's agent, Stephan Wechselberger, denied the claims.

``Irakli could earn a lot more money ... by winning two or three rounds in St. Poelten,'' Wechselberger said. ``These accusations are complete nonsense.''

Fuehrer's lawyer, Thomas Fried, called Cashpoint's allegations ``absolute nonsense.''

``Claims there was an agreement between my client and the player are based on malicious speculation,'' Fried said.

Korneuburg judge Martina Mohr said Wednesday she has asked Labadze to attend a court session June 15.

``We have sent Mr. Labadze a summons in the case,'' she said.

St. Poelten tournament officials declined comment.

The ATP has not been informed about the court case, according to Nicola Arzani, director of communication at tennis' governing body.

If Pippo can hold on for me, then I'd have myself a successful day. It's all relative though, depends on what your specific units are. Like I could show you my history at one of my books this year and it may look good, but I'm not happy with it because the profit in relation to the amount I staked is not acceptable

I'm quite confident that I would... as I specialize with the low ranked WTA players, and could make a killing with those over time.

like one of the previous posters said - if you know what you are doing i.e. know the players, form past results well, tennis is a massive money spinner

however the key is most definitely start small, maybe $50 as a starting stake, build your bank and most importantly confidence and then you can start being fancy like moving into parlaying, props and larger stakes

No way, some of the small time books may screw you over, but neither 5dimes or Pinnacle will. I made 7 cashouts (6 maximum ones) from 5dimes this calender year and each time, it was in my Neteller within 15 minutes of my request. Same with Pinnacle, they take about 15-20 minutes nowadays, last year when their max. cashout was 8k, I did 3 back to back to back all were instantly in my neteller account. The smalltime books will ask you to fax over all kinds of information and give you the runaround. That's why the fees with the top books are acceptable, since they never screw around.

they posted an incorrect line in the NBA i.e. the fav had the + start so obviously i jumped on it....but after the event they send me an email saying they can't honour the bet which i was fine with but what pissed me off was that the fav actually lost anyway so even if the line was correct i.e. - start I still lost...so basically instead of refunsing my money for their screw up they took my money on the basis that the fav didn;t cover the - start

I remember that match, I bet on Knowle at @3.50 before knowing about the fix, and when bookies closed (BF) he was traded at @1.30. Labadze is a big fixer, needless to say

i only have one experience where willhill screwed me over

they posted an incorrect line in the NBA i.e. the fav had the + start so obviously i jumped on it....but after the event they send me an email saying they can't honour the bet which i was fine with but what pissed me off was that the fav actually lost anyway so even if the line was correct i.e. - start I still lost...so basically instead of refunsing my money for their screw up they took my money on the basis that the fav didn;t cover the - start

What? That's horrible! On the flip side, I once got a free 3k in my Pinnacle account. I sent them 3k through western union and after I entered my info, the MTCN, etc (the required information), I checked back 30 minutes later and it still wasn't confirmed. So, I sent them an email asking about that and they replied back that it was in there. I also had a vacation response because I was busy working on a piece and not replying to emails in a timely fashion. I logged in and had 6k to wager with :D

Couple questions:

1) Do you know of any places where there's WTA betting for all the matches every day? The ones I went don't seem to have that. I'd much prefer WTA.

2) Are any you rich due to gambling? Please tell me some success stories.

Thanks.

1) I think WTA can be very profittable but I almost entirely focus this year in ATP cause I enjoy more the matches. But I think bookies commit bigger mistakes there (WTA).

2) If you have a good knowledge, money will come to you ;)

I'm quite confident that I would... as I specialize with the low ranked WTA players, and could make a killing with those over time.

That´s perfect situation, if u ask me. Bookies make the bigger mistakes with low ranked players, specially on WTA ;)

You watching Tech - Duke Jackie? I don't know how in the hell Tech isn't up by at least 5 or so at the moment.

Yeah, but not with much interest. I would've taken Nova over BC if I didn't hit my two afternoon bets, but I'm content with my profit for today. Did you take Ancic? I'm not as confident as everybody else, but he should win.

It's sad that it comes to Scottsdale, but this is his tournament to win.

What BG and Jackie said. These reputable places make an assload of money overall, so they aren't going to chance ruining their business and stealing profits from people who win.

Some do incredibly well, some do reasonably well, some suck ass. The sucking ass yields a ton of profit for bookies.

Say, they are spreading -110 or 10% vig lines, they get 5% of each player's volume by just balancing out on the other side, that's why life as a bookie is great ;)

depends on the game situation - if close all the way they will offer pretty much till last minute

if a blowout they will suspend mid way through 4th qtr
