Leena #2

Hello everybody!

My name is Leena, I'm 22 years old, and I love books, dogs, and -- obviously -- tennis. Actually, I tend to be obsessive about tennis, and I thought I was doomed to be obsessive all alone; which is why I'm very glad to have found this place. You guys make me feel normal!

I like just about every player who plays well, and dislike none. My WTA favourite used to be Hingis, now it's Henin-Hardenne; and my ATP favourite... well, I'm not going to tell who my current ATP favourite is, because I don't want to be dragged out in the street and shot. I love to play tennis also, but unfortunately I've got no one to play with. And I've never learnt to serve, so it would be a bit pointless anyway.

Anyhow, I'm glad to be here. As there already is a Leena here, you can call me Ismy. ;) (When I first noticed a 'Leena thread' spanning about 10 pages in the off-topic section, I actually thought it was about me , and I thought, 'This is what I call a warm welcome!' I was always something of an egoist.)

In fact, I turned 23 a couple of weeks ago.

Did I mention my memory isn't particularly good?

:wavey: Welcome Leena2. You're funny. You're definitely not normal which is why you should fit in with all of us other tennis loonies. ;) When are you going to spill the beans about your ATP fave, huh? Have fun. :)

Kiitoksia, Adele! Hauska tavata :)

Thank you, jmp and Washa, for your kind words. (If 'you're definitely not normal' counts as 'kind words'. ;)) My current ATP darling should be easy enough to guess... He seems to be despised by roughly 80% of the populace here, poor thing. But that's okay. Fan-martyrdom has a sort of appeal to it.

And Washa, I don't know why you've been sad, but I order you to cheer up this instant!

Hi. :wavey: Who are your favorite ATP players? You won't be shot, I promise-just find your home among the player forums.

O.K., L2, I'm guessing Lleyton because of all the bad press he's gotten lately. He has just as many fans who will be around long after the grumbling settles down. Did I get it right?

Why, thank you, MariaV, erica and Willow! (I had no idea the Finnish language was such a hot commodity here ;))

I suppose I might as well admit that the much-maligned player I have a soft spot for is none other than Roddick. (I love Lleyton too, though.) The funny thing is that I used to find him quite obnoxious; but since last year's Wimbledon, I've been smitten. I think it was the beard that did it. I blame the beard.

(I think the beard may have emanated some healthy fumes into his own nose as well, because he played and behaved like a completely different person while he was wearing it...)

Dog gone it! :( Andy is the old stand by for "the man hated by MTF". I should have gotten it! :smash:

Don't you think most of that has blown over?

L2, we got a bunch of new Andy fans on MTF right around the end of AO. They said Andy's site was down. So, you won't be lonely.

See you in the forums. :) :wavey:

Teehee.

I got stroke around here, tootsie.

Hi, other Leena. :)

I'm not a real Leena, though. My real name is Alyanna. Which shouldn't be shortened to Leena.

So where did the Alina come from? Maybe I'm just dumb for not knowing this.

Ismene... I can't say I'm a big fan, what with you refusing to burry your brother, and then trying to share in your sister's fate after she went ahead and did it after Creon told her not to. I mean, what was up with that, yo?

If this makes no sense to you, don't ask. You don't want to know. Welcome!

I am totally reading that in school.

Although, actually, we're currently reading The Darker Face of the Earth by Rita Dove.

Ismene, you should read both. They're really weird.

Hmm, let me see now... thank you, CooCooCachoo, Sally, 1jackson2001, Chloe, JMG, and of course, the Leena who isn't really Leena at all!

The fact is, Chloe, that I wanted to be Antigone. I even registered as Antigone at first, but something went horribly wrong and I was banned before I'd made one single post ;) So I joined again, and for some reason I couldn't think of any other name but this one just then... (Actually, I did think of another favourite play, Blood Wedding, but if I'd registered as The Bride, I don't think anyone would have 'got' it.) I know Ismene is a weak-willed little wimp. But then, I'd probably recoil at the idea of being buried alive, too...

Oh, and thank you, liptea, for recommending Rita Dove. I don't think I'd ever heard of her before. Seems to be an interesting writer.
