The 'Birthday Bash' in Marseille Thread

:bounce: wayhey, jc's playing again! who knows he might even be rebellious and actually get to play on his bday (saturday) which would require him to get to the semis. that entails winning 4 matches. in 1 week. now AO was a bit of a step up 4 him by winning 2 matches in a row.... ;)

ok well on the plus side, he lost 1st here last year (remember that everyone? to gregory carraz  ) so he has zilch points to defend. meaning if he wins one match he'll gain points :bounce: :woohoo: my god its been so long since he gained points and not lost them....

well the draw isnt out yet, not til sunday i dont think but fingers crossed it'll be a relatively ok draw for him. he needs it. :)

and the nice people at the marseille tournament website have classed jc as a star player - http://www.open13.org/R3_public/R3-2_an/R3-2-4_joueur/F3-2-4.cfm

maybe they dont know hes 64th now

:p

I'm really excited for this to get started. :D I hope that he can do really well. I mean, even a couple matches would be nice.. get a few points, get a few matches under his belt, and get some confidence. That is the most important thing. :)

I think that JC has had cursed draws for long enough! Perhaps this time he'll get lucky and get a suitable draw!!

Besides, JC deserves to have a great birthday. I hope that he could make it that far...... :)

good luck JC :smooch:
i really hope he can build on what he did at the AO - so 3 match wins would be good :) any more than that would be flippin great. But as Roisin said as he has no points to defend getting past the first round would be a bonus. He deserves a bit of luck so hopefully he'll get a good draw

Jogg, Lovely avatar as usual. And I don't care what his draw is like because he is good enough to beat anyone, and i know he can beat anyone. I don't just want him to kick ass on his birthday, i want him to win this damn thing. Koubek isn't here so what can really go wrong.

Nobody ignores in Open13 the new ranking ( 64 !!) of JCF, BUT have´nt French people of that tourny-website a gourgeous way ( so elegant!) for presenting our favourite (as STAR player) Roisin ?? They avoid ugly details of question of numbers... there are great !!!!!!!!! Sometimes tennis is just like cooking, presentation is decisively important too.

yeah, but this year, the tournaments are a week out because last year DC was on straight after AO, so the points he got in Marseille last year won't be taken off til the week after. But either way, he HAS to do well here! would be great to see him win on his b'day cos that would mean he'd get to the final! At the AO he lost the day before my b'day which was a shame :( but I will forgive him if he wins in Marseille :)

Who can i complain to about this draw, IT"S AWFUL, but for some reason I have a good feeling about this match if JC can play well. When I saw him play Van Gemerden that guy hit the ball really hard, and once JC found his rhythm he got it back every time. I know you can't compare Van Gemerden to PimPim,but i still think he has a chance. I'm disappointed about Feli VS Fer as well, one of my favourites has to lose:( but think of what this could mean if JC wins? but if he plays crap then PimPim is gonna double his aces record. I am soooooooo scared right now, but i think he can win.

Lynne
02-06-2005, 04:49 AM
Oh well, Pimpim in the 1st round.... He served like 51 aces against Agassi at the AO but Agassi still won.. So I hope Juanqui will be able to find his rhythm....
But damn, why does every draw have to be so tough on juanqui!!

If pimpim serves like in AO Jc is doomed :sobbing: everytime JC will get a chance, imagine a thunder coming down, this serving is just too much, its not tennis at some point, and pimpim lost to Agassi cuz he was becoming tired after his prev. match and Agassi just knew the only way he cud manage is to use every chance for a ralley.
Crap, pure crap.

I remember I was at the match between JC and Pim Pim at last year's Aus Open and it was a tough 4 setter...as we know, things have changed a lot for both players in the last year but I hope the result is the same as last time and JC can win! It will be VERY VERYA tough though and I will be pleasantly surprised if he does.

I think he'll be able to do pretty well in Rotterdam. Just unfortunate that he did have to face Johansson today.. against anyone else he would have had a better chance. Oh well. ok well first off, i was expecting this loss so im not shocked. secondly, hes not as if he was whipped or anything. and we all know hes not the best against big servers (*cough* USO final 03....) but if what pim pim said is true and the tiebreak could've gone either way, well then thats good cos if he'd won the first set he might've gone on to win. i'm not worried about it, he just had a sucky draw and hopefully will get a nicer one in rotterdam. sure dont u remember just after AO 04 marat had to play feds in the first round of dubai or somewhere? lets face it,he has a low ranking so hes gonna get some crap draws but as he moves back up the rankings they will get better. :) be positive!

I♥PsY@Mus!c
02-11-2005, 06:38 PM
Though he is thin,he's talented and played great matches in the past. But nowadays it's the powerful strength world in tennis, his return is OK but I see him gets a huge pressure when he faces those guys.Maybe he lacks confidence to break thier serves, maybe his coach can't teach him effectively prevent the injuries and later on he hits the ball not very powerful.I've said a thousand times,he should fire his coach.

I agree with CrAzYgIrL♥TR on this issue. :) One's gotta learn how to let go of these things...just because he's helped you win RG and many titles doesn't mean he will help you win forever. Maybe hiring a new coach will help inject some new ideas/strategies to his ever so one-dimensional game. And didn't Andy Roddick dump Brad Gilbert after winning the US Open and reaching the No. 1 spot?

I♥PsY@Mus!c
02-11-2005, 07:11 PM
All these things happened in the past but not now, even his coach is great,(I haven't thought that),he should learn to sacrifice his relationship with that guy, most of players also change the coach,it doesn't matter. But I know this is a :bs: ,he is emotional.

thats a part of a coach's work,right?To encourage him &give him confidence.
I suppose that the coach is also one of his problems which need him to sovle, but not the mainly one. :o

yes, but ultimately it has to be Juanqui...I'm sure Antonio is giving him lots of encouragement and trying to make him more confident...Juan Carlos just has to believe in himself more

yes,Antonio is giving him lots of encouragement and trying to make him more confident. But a good coach can do it more available.JC has to sovle it by himself, but he also need enough useful encouragement & advise!
