its 4 games (not much activity involved) for just over an hour and a half we lie on mats with nice music and this person talks to us about relaxation techniques, while the rest of our year are freezing their butts of playing hockey, rugby and netball outside - only the 5-6th years can do it, dunno y

"She's a really nice girl," Hayden said.

Love all: Lleyton and his bubbly girlfriend

By Helen McCabe in The Netherlands

24 Jun 01

As Lleyton Hewitt prepared for the start of Wimbledon tomorrow he found time for some playful moments with his girlfriend Kim Clijsters.

Clijsters, who yesterday brushed Jelena Dokic out of the Heineken Trophy in Holland, amused herself by blowing bubble gum in Hewitt's face as the couple returned from an intimate dinner.

Sporting his new-look shaved head, Hewitt responded by mimicking Clijsters, 18, before leaning over to kiss her on the cheek.
Expectations grew that the fifth-seeded Hewitt could lift the Wimbledon title when he beat Belgian Gilles Elseneer to reach the semi-finals of the Heineken Trophy yesterday.

"I give myself a good chance at Wimbledon, an outside chance," said Hewitt, who had a confidence-boosting win over seven-time champion Pete Sampras on the way to defending his Queen's title. "I'm feeling good. The last week and a half has been really enjoyable."

Hewitt and Clijsters spent just over an hour at a Chinese restaurant in Den Bosch, where local diners seemed oblivious to the high-profile sporting duo's identity, before they strolled back to the modest Nuland Hotel.

Hewitt, 20, who is reluctant to talk publicly about his relationship laughed and held Clijsters' hand over the table as he talked animatedly about the day's play.

Afterwards the pair stepped out onto the major highway, not far from the Rosmalen tennis stadium and again joined hands for the short walk home.

Both go into Wimbledon in top form. Clijsters was runner-up in the French Open.

"We've both been playing well in different tournaments," Hewitt said later.

"Obviously mine has come from playing in Queen's last week . . . she's probably still got that self-belief in herself after making the final of the French Open."

Throughout the tournament, Clijsters continued to wear an elegant gold ring with a single diamond on her wedding finger.
It is understood friends of the couple on the international tennis circuit believe the pair are very much in love.
Hewitt is currently ranked number five in the world while Clijsters is ranked seven. However, they were both seeded top in Holland.

The couple spent every spare minute in each other's company by catching the same car to and from the stadium and sharing a $135 room away from the other guests behind large metal gates.
In the morning they ate breakfast together and during the day Hewitt showed his devotion by sitting through as many of her games as he could.

At tense moments in the games he could be seen giving her an occasional nod of support.

Hewitt was also joined in Europe by his best mate from Emmanuel College in Adelaide Hayden Eckermann, 20, and his brother Jarred, 18.

"It's good just to have a coupla of the boys come over for this stretch," Hewitt said.

"They did it last year and they're doing it again this year."

"It's hard coming through a sort of long period in Europe . . . so I hadn't seen all my mates for awhile so it's nice just to get back that feeling even though it is a long way back from Australia. It's that connection of being home, anyway."

Hayden told The Sunday Telegraph he has known Hewitt since they were in the seventh grade at school and have been best mates ever since.

He said Hewitt seemed to like having him around to support him during the games.

"He likes it and it's good. He looks over at us and it's good for us to watch him play," he said.
Aside from being responsible for shaving Hewitt's head, the old school buddies also helped out at practice sessions and joined him in the stands to watch Clijsters.

"She's a really nice girl," Hayden said.

While Hewitt remains cautious about his chances at Wimbledon, reigning champion Pete Sampras believes the feisty Australian has what it takes.

"I would almost rather play him on hardcourt rather than grass," said Sampras in a startling admission from a man who has won 53 of his past 54 matches at Wimbledon for seven crowns.

"After he beat me in the (Queens) final last year, I thought he would go further.

"But I think he'll break through this year and do well.

"He has the mental attitude and the wheels. He moves unbelievably well on grass. All the great Wimbledon champions have had that great mobility – (Bjorn) Borg, (John) McEnroe; they could all move.

Also, after lleyton won, on CBS' broadcast, while Lleyton is posing with his trophy you can see the player box in the background, and Hayden is putting his arm around Kim playfully and giving her a squeeze. She leaned in and put her head near his shoulder for a second, grinning wildly. I assume other people caught that. It was really cute.

Shingles is pretty uncommon, I believe. It's usually associated with AIDS--a sort of opportunistic infection? And no matter when you get the chicken pox it stays in your nerve endings. Because your body can contain it and make it dormant, but never actually get rid of it. (shrug)

I'm back from school! I had a pretty good day! The only downside was that I totally failed this quiz in math... like a 33/F... it's silly too because the quiz was so easy but I just misread the question. @ me. I'm not going to stress though, because that one quiz probably won't have much influence on my grade. I do stupid stuff far too often, but I digress. My day was good. I found a partner for the Civil War project we have to do. I talked to her and convinced her that we should do a report on the camp followers... i.e. the prostitutes. :D It should be interesting. OMG the neighbor's lawnboy is HOT! Be right back to finish this I think I left something... uh... in their yard.

Okay, back. His name is Dane. I don't like that name. He's cute though. Anyway, I accomplished my goals for the day! :D I payed attention to all of my professors, though in math it was extremely hard because that man is such a moron! He makes stupid jokes too. I make a big deal out of laughing sometimes so he'll think I think he's funny and therefore like me. I also made a new friend! Not just one, but four! :D I was a social butterfly today. The girl I found to do my project with, a girl in my math class, a guy in my Civil War class, and this REALLY REALLY REALLY HOTTTTTT GUY! I don't think he's gay though, not that it matters because I have my Eric. Anyway, I yipped at him, as Becca would say, and he humored me by listening. He has such dark hair and nice skin and the most gorgeous eyes. Nice to look at, easy on the eyes.

I don't have too much homework to do for Thursday, so I think I'm going to continue my mission to get future assignments completed early. I'm going to keep my 4.0 if it kills me. With some of my classes this year though, it very well might. :o

Anyone have a link to the interview where Martina said she would date Lleyton or remember approximately when it was?

Yeah I'll butt in too :p I think wtaworld is on it's last few days and really, it doesn't worry me too much :o The only wta player I really like is Kim and I'm sure Ingrid, Nwando etc... will be more than happy to keep us posted on Kim :D And plus wtaworld is scary now! I almost never posted except in the BB stuff because anywhere else you go, you get attacked for anything you say!

I have read it in 2000 I think...

It will take time to look it up, as I don't think it has been copied into the new site on wtaworld... so Nwan or I have to dig in the old files on geocities.

we should have it though.

He just went to bed at 8pm his time because he's frustrated, making the entire reason that I've been sitting here waiting null and void. He can just be so up and down, I wonder if during one of his ups he'll find someone more convenient/closer.

It just scares me because I've turned down so many local people for him so far :o and I am afraid that he might just decide to dump me.

Peridotpixie
09-11-2002, 02:12 AM
Oh, poor Scott. You seem so insecure about this guy...maybe you should talk to him about it?
Spike from Buffy, btw. Ohhh, my back hurts and I don't WANT to read Federalist Paper #10. I read it last year! Can't remember ANY of it, of course....

Angele
09-11-2002, 02:12 AM
Scott I think you need to decide how much Eric means to you and how much you're willing to go through to keep him! I know when you're talking to him and he's on one of his ups, that you are extrememly happy but then there are days like today when he's sad/angry which in turn, makes you sad/angry. Are the ups worth going through the downs?

Scotso
09-11-2002, 02:16 AM
I know. I'm such a naturally happy person usually, but when he's sad it just has a domino effect. I don't think it's his fault, I think it's my own insecurity. So, yeah, I think it's worth it, because he does mean right much to me, you know? I just need to figure out why I get like this and try to fix it. I guess it'll just take some time and thought? Something that I, hopefully, have a lot of.

No worries, I guess ;)

Speaking of rent, here's a joke:

A man goes to the local church pastor's house and asks for the pastor's wife, a woman well known for her charitable inpulses.
"Excuse me", he says in a choked-up teary voice, "I wish to draw your attention to the terrible plight of a family living in this town. The father is dead, the mother is too ill to work and the nine children are starving. They are about to be turfed out from their house into the cold unless their rent is paid, which amounts to $1000."
"How terrible!" exclaims the pastor's wife. "May I ask who you are?"
"Yes", says the man, wiping his eye with a handkerchief. "I'm the landlord."

Cha-ching! :p

For all Australians:

Lleyton will be on TV on Sept 12, will appear on the Footy Show.

Article from the Age:

Hewitt live

Given Lleyton Hewitt's recent headlines over his refusal to do a one-off media interview, Channel Nine's Footy Show boys are feeling pretty pleased with themselves after the world's No. 1 tennis player yesterday agreed to appear on tonight's program.

Crows fan Hewitt has been inundated with media requests since arriving home from the US Open, but as he has done in the past, said "yes" only to The Footy Show for what will be a live cross from his home town.
END ARTICLE

On another note, re the video of Lleyton's press conference in Adelaide, that's already off; has been replaced by latest news items. So don't look for it no longer on MSN Australia (unless someone can find it in archives of Nine MSN?).

Hope some of you have been able to see it though.

btw, I think that we might get a video of Lleyton's Footy Show appearance up on MSN Australia. I remember that they showed him last year in the Footy Show too; the video was up for like a day or so back then! (you have to be fast to watch things on Nine MSN... )
