But here's the good news RT has the no 4 spot by 1 point and she has final points to defend but another downside Seles has trophy points to defend so RT will continue to live up to her name

The only readon why Lleyton match got lower rating was because the day before, when it was the Pred's final, people turned to hoping to see some lovely bowls action provided by Grandstand but instead got tow minging faces so their TV screens cracked! :o Many households were left without a TV and therefore, had to listen to the match on that dreaded Radio 5 Live! :o :o :p

How do you know my school is easy, Ana? You don't go here. :p

Okay, here are my hard classes: English IV Dual Credit (2 days high school, 3 days college), Physics Advanced Placement, Government/Economics Dual Credit, and Calculus Advanced Placement. Does that sound easy to you? Add to that Yearbook and Newspaper, of which I am editor and which requires A LOT of extra work during my free time, and that adds up to something that's not exactly "easy."

However, I just happened to be a very laid back person  and I can handle it. You just need to chill out a bit and not get so stressed. After all, it's just school, right? It's not like we're over in the trenches and our lives depend on some of this shit. :p

But you're right, Maz, I don't get caught. :p Ask me about the way I skipped school every day my sophomore and junior years. :p

okay, it's old news in fact, but I guess it's not really known...

I stumbled on it while doing some research (preparing for a new bio of Kim):

according to the article I had saved last year (and had totally forgotten about :o ) both Lleyton AND Kim bought that piece of land in Adelaide.

Clijsters more than just Hewitt’s love game
May 26, 2002

Moira Gordon

KIM Clijsters is a girl torn between two countries. The teenage Belgian admits she has developed more than a passing infatuation with Australia and, as she allegedly ponders her future allegiance, it’s easy to see why she is in a quandary.

Off court, she could hardly be more Belgian. As sweet as the chocolate the country is famed for, when the tour wants a smiling public face, they enlist her help but, while obliging in that context, on the whole, like her native land, she remains nestled at the back of most people’s consciousness. The product of a country where pretension is considered vulgar, she says: "I haven’t changed at all. I’m happy to be in my apartment, to live like a normal person."

Yet on court she is the epitome of an Aussie sportswoman. An athletic, hard-working, never-say-die sporting machine, it would be no surprise to find a "Made in Australia" label somewhere on her person. She is the kind of ambitious and successful competitor that nation would be proud of.

Driven and hugely competitive, like her boyfriend Lleyton Hewitt, who introduced her to the nation she is considering adopting as her own, she is an aggressive baseliner, blessed with fearsome groundstrokes and gritty determination.

They have taken the 18-year-old into the upper echelons of the WTA rankings in the past couple of seasons and helped her push Jennifer Capriati to her limits in the final at Roland Garros 12 months ago.

In one of the most captivating women’s singles finals in recent times, and the first grand slam final contested by a Belgian woman, she ultimately lost out 1-6, 6-4, 12-10 but it was the display of sheer steel, masked off-court by her friendly persona, that forced people to sit up and take notice.

Suddenly spectators realised that the girl who went on to add quarter-final appearances at both Wimbledon and Flushing Meadow to her cv was much more than just Hewitt’s love interest.

Bedevilled by arm and shoulder injuries this year, she still had a flirtation with the No3 spot in the WTA rankings in March and maintains a secure grip on fourth place despite limited appearances since.

Having reached the semi-finals in Australia, where the best she could muster last year was the fourth round, she was keen to build on her success but goes into the French Open short of match-practice. There have been matches played in between lengthy rehabilitation periods but it’s been far from ideal, even having to withdraw from the Federations Cup after aggravating the shoulder injury.

She goes into this week’s French Open off the back of another rest and while not as physically fit as she would have liked, mentally she is strong.

Other teenagers may have felt unnerved by the nagging injury fears or intimidated by the well-earned reputation she now has to live up to but Clijsters believes in herself.

"I needed a few days off for my shoulder. You never know, you could be there for a few weeks," she said recently. Hardly the words of a feeble-minded non-believer. "People are asking me if I’m scared of going back, but what is there to be scared of? I want to be out there, enjoying the feeling again."

Like all mentally-strong characters, she loves the pressure of the big matches and embraces them in the same way as her boyfriend. They have been together for two years and while the fear among coaches is that relationships blunt the killer instinct, Clijsters and Hewitt have proved the exception.

When schedules allow, they are courtside to support their other half but even when they are not at the same events, they call each other at least four times every day.

But Hewitt is not the only support act. It was no coincidence that Clijsters, who is a keen footballer and all-round racquet sports enthusiast, enjoyed her best grand slam performance at a tournament attended by her father, Leo.

A world removed from the overbearing influences of the Williams and Dokic fathers, the former Belgian football international is his daughter’s agent and stabiliser. "He calms me down so it’s a pity he can’t be around more often on the tour," Clijsters has said.

He is expected at Roland Garros again this year and, of course, Hewitt will be there too. She may be torn between their two nations, but there is absolutely nothing divisive about their support.

Hi guys!! Okay, I was looking around one of Andy Roddick's fan clubs and past messages and people were talking about how they don't like Lleyton. And one guy/girl (roddicktennisbabe) said that, and this is a direct quote from what the guy said,
"... one of my friends went to Indian Wells and got to sit right next to Hewitt's best friend... they started talking and pretty soon, his best friend started dissing Kim Clijsters, his best friend's own girlfriend! Wrong attitude, wrong friends..."

I was just wondering what all of you think about this. I don't mean to start trouble. I don't know if what the guy said about his friend sitting next to Hayden is even true, but I hope it's not true.

Okay. I hate to bring up a painful memory, but maybe this'll cheer people up. During the Hewitt Agassi match I kept saying things like, "Maybe Agassi will break a wrist. Maybe he'll break his spleen! Maybe Steffi will break her spleen!" My dad thought it was hilarious. Anyway, after the match, my dad said, "Maybe Lleyton had a broken spleen." Then we all started coming up with reasons why Lleyton lost. Here's some of what we came up with:
-He ate sour grapes
-He was thinking about how to get his mobile phone to work
-He was hungover
-He forgot which side Agassi's forehand was
-He forgot that the ball was supposed to go OVER the net
-He had licked a flaming porcupine
-He had licked an immortal flaming porcupine
-He had gotten drunk and licked an immortal flaming porcupine that Hayden brought him

Then my dad wondered what Kim would say to make him feel better. Our vote? "I got your mobile phone to work!"

Oh, that's interesting. Whenever I hear it mentioned it seems like only Lleyton bought it. But this puts a new spin on his classifying it as "an investment for the future." (awww.)

Does Lleyton have any part in Kim's house in Belgium?

Enjoy Hannah!

Unfortunately I have school today, which I'm getting ready for right now. I'm forcing myself to eat so I'll have energy, but it's soooo hard to do so in the morning. I'm still sick  But, I am feeling a little better, well enough to make it through the day. I like my schedule on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. But on Tuesday and Thursday when I have five 90 minute class I curse myself for setting it up this way, lol. Well, I'm looking forward to seeing my friends at school again, a lot of whom skipped the first week  Hopefully it will be a good day... I'm going to try to be chipper about it, unlike I was last week. My personal goals for today are to pay attention, even when the teachers are boring http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/ZZZsleep.gif and to make at least one new friend http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/cheers.gif Someone remind me of this when I get home and make sure I did both... if I didn't, chastise me vehemently!

Love you guys and I'll see you after school  :wavey:

I'm glad Lleyt is back in Aussieland. Hopefully it'll make him feel better. Is Kim with him? ;) I want him to win the Australian Open. I hope he trains hard for it and focuses on it. He would have won it this year if not for stupid illnesses

Mets' seventh straight win gives Braves NL East crown
Sept. 9, 2002
SportsLine.com wire reports

PHILADELPHIA -- The New York Mets didn't give the Atlanta Braves a chance to celebrate another division title on the field.

The Braves clinched their 11th straight division championship when the Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-4 Monday night behind Mike Piazza's grand slam.

Philadelphia's loss wrapped up the NL East for the Braves, who didn't play Monday. The second-place Phillies are 21 games behind Atlanta.

The Braves became the first team this season to secure a postseason berth, and they did it earlier than any team in Atlanta history. The 1975 Cincinnati Reds have the earliest clinching since divisional play began in '69, wrapping up the NL West on Sept. 7.

The Mets, who begin a three-game series at Turner Field on Tuesday, avoided possibly having to watch the Braves win the division.

"We didn't want to be around when they celebrate," Mets first baseman Mo Vaughn said. "They've been a great team time and time again and they deserve it. They'll be the team until someone knocks them off. We knew they would clinch sooner or later, but we didn't want to see it."

Piazza went deep in a six-run seventh inning as the Mets set a season high with their seventh consecutive victory.

The Mets, swept by the Phillies at Shea Stadium last weekend, completed their second four-game sweep at Veterans Stadium. The other came in 1972. They haven't lost since setting an NL record with 15 consecutive home losses.

"It's as good a roll as we've been on," manager Bobby Valentine said. "Hopefully, we can keep it going."

The Phillies have lost seven of eight since reaching a season-high three games over .500.

Jeff D'Amico (6-10) pitched two scoreless innings in relief for his first victory since July 23. Armando Benitez got three outs for his 32nd save in 36 chances, allowing an RBI single to Mike Lieberthal.

Trailing 3-0 in the seventh, the Mets loaded the bases with one out against reliever Mike Timlin (4-5) on singles by Ty Wigginton, Raul Gonzalez and pinch-hitter Jeromy Burnitz.

Valentine then sent injured first baseman Vaughn out to bat for D'Amico, hoping to draw left-hander Dan Plesac into the game and then send a right-handed hitter in to bat for Vaughn, who has a sore left hand.

When Phillies manager Larry Bowa kept Timlin in the game, Valentine called Vaughn back to the dugout and sent John Valentin to the plate.

"Mo failed his acting course," Valentine said. "He went up there with his sneakers on."

Valentin cut it to 3-1 with a sacrifice fly. Timlin then walked Roger Cedeno and Roberto Alomar, forcing in a run. Jose Santiago replaced Timlin, who was ejected by plate umpire Larry Vanover for arguing on his way back to the dugout.

Piazza hit a 2-0 pitch from Santiago over the left-center fence for his 27th homer and 14th career slam.

"I hadn't been swinging that great," Piazza said. "I went up there and in my mind I said I'm not going to swing at a bad pitch."

The Phillies took a 3-0 lead against Mets starter Mike Bacsik on a two-run homer by Pat Burrell and an RBI double by Mike Lieberthal.

Hector Mercado, making his first start in the majors after 93 relief appearances, allowed just one hit, walked one and struck out four in four innings. Carlos Silva pitched two scoreless innings before giving way to Timlin.

"Mercado threw great," Bowa said. "He came up as a starter and we may give him a chance at being a starter in spring training."

Bacsik allowed three runs and six hits in four innings.

Bobby Abreu singled to start the fourth inning and scored on Burrell's 36th homer. Burrell has 17 homers and 49 RBI, including seven homers and 19 RBI this season, in just 172 career at-bats against the Mets.

Jimmy Rollins started the fifth with a double and Abreu walked, chasing Bacsik. D'Amico struck out Burrell before Lieberthal hit a liner down the left-field line to score Rollins. D'Amico intentionally walked pinch-hitter Travis Lee and got Marlon Anderson to hit into a double play to end the inning.

;) Go Braves!

bye :wavey:

Yeah, but getting chicken pox now means that the virus will stay in his nerve endings and he could get other related illnesses eg. shingles (sp?) - they basically look like big chicken pox and have similar symptoms

re that article stating it's jointly bought land: that comes from NRC Handelsblad, Dutch serious newspaper, no tabloid stuff at all.

re Belgium: Don't know. But then sometimes I read it's Kim's, and then sometimes that they are building it, both of them... dunno

Here is the link to the page:

Thanks for informing us, Leah!

Sorry, but what you read can't possibly be a true thing, though.

Why? several reasons, just to name a few to stop such nonsense:

1) Why should Hayden start talking like that about Kim to a stranger? Doesn't make any sense.
2) Even if he wouldn't like Kim, than he wouldn't tell anyone in this way, as he is Lleyton's best friend after all.
3) Just have a good look at each and every pic/TV image of Hayden watching/looking at Kim... it speaks for itself: don't see anything there that would tell his aversion for her, on the contrary.
