I want the Swiss Miss to win this, but it would be better for Kim if Monica wins. Kim's losing some points since she got to the QFs last year, and I don't want Martina defending a lot of her points and passing her. :p

Romeo Beckham riddle confounds media
Mon Sep 2, 9:37 AM ET

LONDON (Reuters) - "O Romeo, Romeo -- wherefore art thou, Romeo?"

Such was the chorus being heard around the country on Monday as newspapers invoked the famed Shakespeare line in homage to the newborn son of soccer hero David Beckham, named after one of the world's best-known lovers.

Victoria Beckham, aka "Posh Spice", gave birth to seven-pound (3.175 kg) Romeo on Sunday at the exclusive Portland Hospital in central London, where both mother and baby were reported to be doing well.

Speculation over why the superstar couple had bestowed the romantic moniker on their second son filled newspaper front pages and editorials on Monday.

"Perhaps, like so many people, they see the name as a byword for sexual prowess, rather like Casanova," suggested the Daily Telegraph.

"Was he conceived on a balcony or in the back of an Alfa?" bellowed a Daily Mirror headline, in reference to the couple's decision to name their first son, three-year-old Brooklyn, after the New York borough where he was conceived.

The Manchester United and England star offered a simpler reason when reporters grilled him outside the hospital.

"It's just a name we love," Beckham said.

But the tabloids, many of which had speculated feverishly -- and embarrassingly incorrectly -- that the baby would be a girl named Paris, would not be put off.

The most popular suggestion being floated was the baby had been named for rapper MC Romeo of the band So Solid Crew since Beckham is reportedly a big fan of garage music.

Other top guesses were Dutch midfielder Romeo Zondervan, who played for Ipswich in the 1980s and Italian fashion designer Romeo Gigli.

Intriguing name or not, the youngest Beckham will have to get used to the media spotlight.

Newspapers reported that bookmakers William Hill were already offering odds of 250-1 that Romeo will one day play for England. LMAO! He's like 4 days old :o

Hello all
:wavey:

I had a terrible day! This morning I wake up and see that kim lost
Then I went to school and as I said before they give us already a lot of tasks! My teacher English, wich I had also for the first time this year, gave a test to see how good we are in English. It will be prob bad (but in tho whole class, so that's ok). I came home and my parents were mad at me coz I didn't say much and coz I wasn't friendly. And now I just see that Elke lost too!!!!

Julie *hugs* those crappy days just suck! My advice: Grab some ice cream/cookies/chocolate, put on an old favorite movie and pig out on the couch! And then go to bed early tonight and tomorrow you'll wake up in a much better mood, albeit a couple of pounds heavier :p

Patience is not a virtue that I have learned yet :p

And it wouldn't be WAY too soon :p Kim and Lley are in a serious relationship so it's not like she'd just end up being some single mum... and plus Els had Kim when she was 19 and look how great that turned out :D If Els had waited, Kim might be, erm, 15 right now and not dating Lleyton :p

I have Angele!

I just can't stand that guy!

Have seen him in action during the Davis cup Morocco vs Belgium last year.

His behaviour was scandalous, frankly. :fiery: :fiery: :fiery:

I'm still angry for the way he acted on court, I felt so sorry for the rochus bros and the rest of the Belgian team of course.

If someone needs an example of unsportsmanlike behaviour, don't look at Lleyton, look at this one and THEN you know what that is! Lleyton in his past worst fired up behaviour is still a school boy compared to this one.

Angele

What happened with El Annoying

Well Hannah, the thing in GM was a bit complicated! I don't even remember what it was about :o We were kind of fighting with Becca but that was because she and Scott got into a fight about something and she kinda followed him in here to follow that fight so that wasn't really appreciated by me, Marly or Scott! And then with tennischick if was something about Lleyton and the whole thing with James at the Open last year  I really don't remember very well!

Becca and tc when you read this: Sorry for talking about y'all again but Hannah ( Hermione) has been away for a while and missed the whole thing... I was just explaining :)

Angele, I think Julie and I have explained the thing with El Annoying think a week or two ago.

Basic stuff to know about the player, besides the bad experience the Belgians had when it came to manners, (or lack of), is that he is quite damn good.

If my memory serves me right, he has made life difficult for Lleyton during a match between them. Think they played each other on clay in Spain or Monaco.... this year.

Anyway, he is not easy to beat.

There is, but.... in Belgian media.

I have heard it on Flemish radio, she was on TV tonight too, and it will be in the papers tomorrow.

I have posted a bit on the website.

She basically said that this loss really hurts, she was that close to winning, but on the other hand the positive she sees is that her level is better, and she is motivated again, AND she hasn't had any pain!!!

Is there an address to contact the US Open webpeople at? If so, we should all email and complain about the lack of a Kim interview.

oh, ok. Why do no reporters want to ask her questions in English? Well, we should email reporters and tell them not to be stupid.

You might get the reply: who is Kim? Don't think we have a player by that name.

erm... the Belgian media DO ask Kim questions on a regular basis!

There would be more English interviews if the English or American sports writers would start to perform decent interviews with her, instead of ignoring her or asking silly questions, or making up stories, (hello Aussie press) for that matter.

Yes, I meant the American media. I expressed that rather badly, though.
My friend was telling me about how his cousin is a sports reporter for ESPN. I told him to tell her to write nice things about Kim. His reply? "Oh, she's working on a Kafelnikov story." Because, you know, he has a really happenin' career. (eyeroll)
