Hewitt's love match in jeopardy by STAFF REPORTERS Kim Clijsters' parents have banned Lleyton Hewitt from their Belgian residence after a recent brunch with the Aussie tennis ace turned into a "four hour nightmare." Mr. and Mrs. Clijsters were reported to have been very happy with their daughter Kim's relationship with the Hewitt, until the morning he offered to "whip up a late brekky for everyone." "He decided to start with some soft-boiled eggs," said Mr. Clijsters. "Which was fine by us. But two seconds after he'd dropped the eggs in the water, he put his face into the saucepan and started screaming, 'C'mon! C'mon!' I told him to ease up a bit, but he told me to get the hell out of the kitchen. It was an awful business. Every time one of the eggs bobbled to the surface of the boiling water, he'd give it an awful spray." Mrs. Clijsters found the ordeal one of her worst ever breakfast experiences. "He should have just let the eggs alone," she said. "It would only have taken three minutes." Hewitt lost patience and grabbed the eggs out of the water after only forty seconds. "Watching him hold onto those scalding hot eggs, running round and round the kitchen, shouting, pumping his fists, going red in the face - I couldn't help wondering if this was the right boy for my Kimmy," said Mrs. Clijsters. After berating the toaster for ineptness, Hewitt placed the eggs on the middle shelf of the Clijsters' oven. He set the temperature to the maximum of 400 C. "That really frightened me," said Mrs. Clijsters. "To watch him with his head in an overheating oven, screaming 'C'mon!' at half a dozen eggs - it was worse than the night the fox got into the hen-house. I thought it would ever end." Kim Clijsters defended her intense boyfriends antics, claiming her mum and dad just didn't understand him, and that Lleyton's behaviour was simply part of the way he cooked his eggs. However, even Kim's loyalty was tested after Lleyton raced off with the eggs and holed himself up in the sitting room with a hairdryer, a bic lighter, and Mr. Clijsters old soldering iron. "C'mon! C'mon!" was all the Clijsters family heard for the next two hours. The grueling egg ordeal was only ended when Kim's Swiss backpacker friend Martina dropped by to see how everyone was going. "Everything was mad," said Mr. Clijsters. "But then Martina arrived. She was like a baboon. Wearing this hilarious outfit and primping and preening. All of a sudden people were laughing like drains, falling this way and that; it was a miracle. Even Lleyton began to smile. I'd like to call Lleyton 'Martina', but I'm afraid of what his reaction might be." Australian cricketer Mark Waugh refused to comment on the issue, citing legal advice. Murkofan 09-01-2002, 02:30 PM I think I could handle your friend, Kets. Most of my friends are stupid, so I'm pretty sure I could deal with one of your stupid friends. :p Angele! *slap* Angele 09-01-2002, 02:31 PM We definetly have to go shopping Kets! Erm, Adolf Hitler was the dictator of Germany, which was still reeling from the effects of WW1. He was able to sort of brain wash a lot of the German people into thinking that Jews were the cause of all Germany's problems, which of course wasn't the case. Hitler decided he wanted to take over the world  and got Italy (who was under the Facist leadership of Mussolini) to go in cahoots with them. Japan too. Great Britain and quite a few other European countries, Belgium included, went to war with Germany, Italy, and Japan. America--which had been embroiled in the Great Depression for years--tried to stay out of it, as Europe is quite a ways away from us. BUT Japan decided they needed to take us out anyways. So they bombed Pearl Harbor, the US Naval base in Hawaii, and attempted to cripple our Naval fleet so they could take over all the islands and territories in the Pacific Ocean, Australia included. Sooooo, America joined the war on the side of the Allied Powers, i.e. Great Britain etc. And eventually, in 1945 if memory serves, we defeated Germany and its allies. Murkofan 09-01-2002, 02:53 PM Btw, America dropped two atomic bombs on Japan in Hiroshima and Nagasaki because they wouldn't surrender. Those are still the only two atom bombs to be detonated in war. fcap 09-01-2002, 02:55 PM  Marly i wanna be as smart as u !! :wavey: Im gonna go to bed now . Im teid form last night !! "It's a boy...Romeo," a beaming David Beckham told reporters outside the exclusive Portland Hospital in central London where Victoria gave birth to the celebrity couple's first child, Brooklyn, three years ago. "It's just a name we love," the Manchester United star and England captain said when asked why they chose the name of one of William Shakespeare's best-known lovers. Beckham, looking relaxed in white shirt and matching cap, said his new son weighed in at seven pounds and four ounces (3.36 kg) and mother and baby were doing well. "We're both delighted...(Victoria's) great. She's sitting up in bed." The soccer star said Brooklyn had been allowed into the operating theater just after the birth, believed to be a second Cesarean section. "Brooklyn came in when Romeo came out...he absolutely adores him," Beckham said. "(Romeo) look's like Brooklyn. He's gorgeous. He's got Brooklyn's nose and Victoria's chin." The fact the baby was a "Romeo" and not a "Juliet" confounded Britain's tabloids, which had confidently predicted the baby would be a girl called Paris, after the French capital where "Posh" is believed to love shopping. Brooklyn was famously named after the area of New York where he was conceived. Victoria shot to superstardom in the 1990s as part of the "Spice Girls ( news - web sites)" band which has sold about 40 million albums and 25 million singles worldwide and has had nine number one singles in Britain alone. This year, she has been seeking to salvage her flagging solo career with a new single, "A Mind of its Own." Meanwhile David, famed for his footballing skills at top English club Manchester United and as England captain, has said he is in talks with British high-street retailer Marks and Spencer to help design a range of boys' clothing. Both are seen as doting parents. David has a large guardian angel tattooed on his back over Brooklyn's name. The new arrival can expect plenty of treats from the mega-earning couple. They spent a reported 50,000 pounds ($77,710) on a child-size Ferrari for Brooklyn for his first Christmas. Oh well, hi and bye :p Murkofan 09-01-2002, 05:45 PM Pff Scott. :p Peridotpixie 09-01-2002, 05:59 PM Don't remember who asked for this, but here you go: On Top and In Love, Lleyton buries the Brat Behind the snarling, storming Lleyton Hewitt is a little-known softer side, as Neil Harman found The Australian, 10-11 Nov 2001 It is approaching 1:30am as Lleyton Hewitt emerges from the shower looking fresh and bright-eyed. His girlfriend Kim Clijsters is idling away time on a grand prix racing game machine. His coach Darren Cahill is making sure nothing has been left in the locker room. Hewitt stops in his tracks, "Hi mate, thanks for staying on, beauty." This is the prospective No. 1 player in the world who knows he has a duty to perform, to speak his mind, whatever the time of the day. He drops his bag and starts chatting. Hewitt has just beaten Guillermo Canas of Argentina in the third round of the Tennis Masters in Stuttgart, his 16th victory in a row from the US Open where he was the last sporting champion before New York City was reshaped by abominable terror. Only a handful of Germans were keen enough to stay on at this unearthly hour, many of whom (a little the worse for Lowenbrau) were shouting "time" at change-overs before 90 seconds had ticked by. If Hewitt heard them laughing, nothing registered. His focus was unbreakable. The only eyes he saw except Canas’s were those of Cahill and Clijsters, who kept yawning behind her hand, trying to disguise the fact she was doing this out of love. Hewitt had already qualified for the Masters Cup in Sydney which starts on Monday. He’d won his last two tournaments, he’d seen Australia home to the Davis Cup final, sho why was he flogging himself into a carpet court in faraway Germany? He is the very model of youthful insouciance. "Got to be done, mate. Yes, it’s hard at the moment, very hard, it’s been an extremely long year," he said. "But I’ve had an unbelievable few weeks, it’s hard to take it all in really. I have had to keep up an incredible level of focus all year, but I can switch off too. I have my quiet moments. I chill out. "I love being with Kim because she is a great girl. We measure up well. We understand each other and what we have to deal with to be in the top 10 in the world. A different girlfriend probably wouldn’t connect. "Her levels of commitment are as high as mine, that’s why we work so well together. "I do amaze myself sometimes. I don’t go into anything if I think I could fail at it. The levels of pressure and expectation on me, especially in Australia, are so high. Everyome wants a piece of you. I don’t know if I could be playing until I’m Pete Sampras or Andre Agassi’s age." They have both been to the tennis summit. Hewitt knows if he wins in Sydney next week he will complete an astonishing year as the world’s No 1. His mind goes back four years to when he stepped nervelessly onto the world stage. "Sometimes I look at the kids I used to hang around with in the juniors," he said. "I felt some of them would be great players, yet they are battling away in the satellites and I’m going for No 1. That hits me hard." His mind floats forward to sunnier climes and targets ahead, to the Masters Cup and, imperatively, the Davis Cup he wants so much to win because it’s the event that’s keeping Pat Rafter going. "It gives me goosebumps when I see the levels of love and appreciation for Pat, in Australia," he said. "I don’t know if I’ll ever have that kind of reaction to me, but we are different people. He is the icon we all look up to. This (the Davis Cup) is for him. We want it for ourselves,, but we really want it for someone we deeply respect. "The Davis Cup has always gone something for me ever since I came into the squad as the orange boy under John Newcombe. To win it in Australia, with Pat in the side, I can’t tell you how much that would mean. I want to be peaking in Sydney and peaking more in Melbourne. "I’m not afraid of playing anyone. I like to think I’ve got them running a little scared of me. They know what to expect, that I don’t give up. The US Open has turned me around as it did Pat. I shouldn’t have expected to win it, but I did. The way I played in the final against Pete was just about perferct. "No matter what the situation I’m in, I don’t press the panic button. "That comes in with experience, the self-belief, the inner belief. I believe I’m able to get out of any situation in any match. I would have been nice to take these weeks off, but I can’t do it. I need my game to be right for Australia." Angele 09-01-2002, 08:35 PM You become a senior member by having more than 100 posts :D Angele 09-01-2002, 08:37 PM From his interview yesterday: Q. You seemed very in control of your emotions all the way through, no shouts, screams. Did you feel that was an important element in the way you needed to play today? LLEYTON HEWITT: Yeah, I went out there with the same attitude that I've taken into Davis Cup matches. I really felt that in my head I just got it in that I was playing for Australia out there. That was my whole mindset, you know, as soon as I walked on the court. When I felt like getting fired up, looking over to my bench, I tried to use all my positive energy when I needed to in that way. Apart from that, I just tried blocking everything else out. I worked a lot on going into that SpanishDavis Cup final a couple of years ago with Newk and Rochey. Newk and I sat down and had gone through a lot of things back then. I sort of drew strength from that, I guess, especially probably the match I played against Costa, winning in five, and also how I handled the situation down in Brazil against Guga. Scotso 09-01-2002, 08:40 PM I wonder if Lleyton was too tired to get it on last night. Angele 09-01-2002, 08:40 PM Right after Lleyton said that a reporter should have stepped in "You talked about your bench! We saw your parents their, coach, and your girlfriend, Kim. Does it help to have her there cheering you on?" :D Mazza 09-01-2002, 08:41 PM Aww! He's really trying hard to get the hint across!
