I know that part... I mean where you say "far-dar" :p

Murkofan

Pff, whatever, Kim rules. We're enlightened enough to realize it, even if the bashers don't. Sour grapes. Ignore 'em.

Murkofan
07-28-2002, 04:20 AM
Oh, duh. :o :p

Of course I mean Fat-Dar! I'm on the look-out for people who have it....not that I'm entirely sure what Fat-Dar really is (Becca never totally explained, but then again, I don't think she totally remembered what it was :p) but I'm still on the look-out for it. I'm a very wary person. ;)

*smacks forehead* I just noticed what you're getting at Scott. Duh squared! Let me go change that. :o LMAO.

Nah. You may not remember it, but Angele told us Lleykis once about how old men will tell her crap at work, stupid stuff like "you'd make a good wife." Who says stuff like that?? So of course I have to give her a hard time. :p

Those men are seriously freaky... now they wink at me *shudders* ugh!

Scotso
07-28-2002, 04:24 AM
It came from where someone insulted Becca on the board by saying "I can tell you're fat" or something. They couldn't win a battle of wits so they took off with stupid meaningless insults. So Becca coined the term "Fat-Dar"... lol... for people who can tell others on the internet are fat?

I think that's the gist of it.

Scotso

You know you love it Angele :p

Murkofan
07-28-2002, 04:25 AM
Well, I never claimed to be terribly observant. :p

LOL, they wink at you! How freaky. I've never been able to wink at someone. My face just kind of twitches. :p What do you do when they wink, QG?

Murkofan

What do I do when they wink? Depends on my mood lol. Usually just look away, sometimes a nervous laugh lol

Omg and she's having an affair with Jack :o

she's a little more wrinkled than I pictured her...

Murkofan

I think you should try to wink back. Or maybe reach over and caress the guy's hand. They'd probably freak. :D

Angele

Ewww Marly, they're like really old

Scotso

I've mastered the wink. It's a must for gay males. :p

Murkofan
07-28-2002, 04:36 AM
Of course ewww, Angele, I don't mean for you to try and bang them or anything, just give them a taste of their own medicine!

How long did it take you to learn how to wink, Scott? I don't think I'll ever get the hang of it. I'm not very flirty. :o

I can raise one eyebrow at a time, though. :p

Angele
07-28-2002, 04:38 AM
Never in my right mind would I wink at a 60 year old man or caress his hand... gross!!

Murkofan
07-28-2002, 04:39 AM
Then get in your wrong mind! Show the bastards how it feels to be treated like a piece of meat!!
:p

Angele

LMAO :D Sorry Marly, I could never do it! Sure I could be all flirty with them but I would NEVER be able to keep a straight face :o

Scotso
07-28-2002, 04:41 AM
I can do the eyebrow thing too :D It's a natural expression I have when someone says something dumb.

Hense I do it a lot.

It took about 2 years to perfect the wink, lol...

Murkofan
07-28-2002, 04:44 AM
My friend Tami is the queen of flirting. But then again she's kind of a ho, so maybe that's why. :p

I do the eyebrow thing when someone says something too, Scott. Needless to say I do it a lot. :p

I'm glad to hear it took you 2 years to master the wink. Maybe there's hope for me after all. :o

Angele
07-28-2002, 04:46 AM
2 years?? Hope for me as well then :D I can kinda almost wink on one side ;)

Venus Williams and Kim Clijsters advance to final

By ANNE M. PETERSON
AP Sports Writer
July 28, 2002

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) -- Defending champion Kim Clijsters wore down Lindsay Davenport 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 Saturday to advance to the Bank of the West Classic final.

Fourth-seeded Clijsters will face top seed Venus Williams, who defeated Lisa Raymond earlier in the day, in the title match on Sunday.

Clijsters beat Williams in the final at Hamburg earlier this year to even their career series at 1-1. Williams won in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open last year.

``Those great players, you have to take advantage when they're not playing their best games -- and that's what I did today,'' Clijsters said.

Second-seeded Davenport, playing in her first tour event since November because of a serious knee injury, came out with confidence while Clijsters struggled to find her serve.

Davenport took advantage -- breaking the young Belgian in the first set after two double faults.

Up 4-2 in the second set, Davenport suddenly lost her edge. Clijsters held serve to go up 5-4, then broke Davenport to win the set.

Clijsters, ranked No. 5, won seven straight games during the match as Davenport's frustration grew and she was unable to regain her early poise. Davenport won just six points during the stretch.

``I didn't feel like I was controlling the points anymore,'' Davenport said.

Davenport injured her right knee last in the semifinals of the Sanex Championships against Clijsters. She had surgery in January.

``I made great strides this week,'' said Davenport, who was in good spirits after the match. ``These are just the situations I'm going to have to deal with.''

To which he replied, "he's out with his boyfriend." Well, needless to say I found this interesting and continued to chat with him. It turns out the guy is a big slut and really uses people.

It's funny how I get so down, and then something comes along that totally makes me soooo happy... and as soon as I begin to get comfortable, it's snatched away

Jackson scoops second gymnastics gold

28 July 2002

Kanukai Jackson has claimed gold in the men’s individual all-around event to add to the one he scooped in the men’s team event earlier in the competition.

Kanukai Jackson on the way to his second gold medal of the Games

Jackson, from Harrow in England was delighted with his second gold: “I am over the moon. We’re on a bit of a roll at the moment after winning gold in the team event.

“I got off to a shaky start on the floor but managed to pull it together after that,” he continued.

Jackson was not the first athlete to praise the spectators at a Manchester 2002 event.

“It was really hard to concentrate with all the noise, but the crowd was brilliant. I just tried to keep myself focused.”

Team-mate Craig Heap was full of praise for Jackon’s performance: “I knew Kanukai would do it. I’ve put up with his snoring all week so I’m glad he did!"

Australia’s Phillipe Ruzzo took the silver medal with a series of important performances, none more so than on the horizontal bars.

“I thought I was going to finish third but managed to get silver and I was very happy with my last round performance,” he said

“I’m happy with silver but I wanted to win gold. Nothing really went wrong but what I did in training didn’t come out today. It’s very hard to beat the English in England but full credit to Kanukai Jackson for winning.”

Result:

Kanukai Jackson (ENG) – 55.025
Phillipe Ruzzo (AUS) – 53.850
Alexander Jeltkov (CAN) – 53.650

Okay, another installment of the saga that is my life.

Well, today I was being consoled by one of the roommates of the slut that I went out with Friday. He was being really nice and I was bored so I went over to their place to watch movies with a group of them. Well, another of the roommates, this REALLY EXTREMELY HOT GUY was there. So naturally, I was flirting. What surprised me was that he flirted back. So I would play with his hair, and he would rub my leg, etc. etc. etc. Well they went to sleep, but I left (even thought they wanted me to stay and the REALLY EXTREMELY HOT GUY wanted me to sleep in his bed with him) because I'm an imsomniac and would have kept him up with my tossing and turning, and he has to work in the morning. (See how sweet and considerate I am? :D) Well, when I left he kissed me.

THE REALLY EXTREMELY HOT GUY kissed me. *faint* I got his phone number too. I'm not getting my hopes up because of past experiences... but this guy is so cool and SO HOT! Anyway. Just thought I would share. Hopefully I'll get to see some more of him.

Quote from Lleyton re Kim, I know, it's shocking

On whether it's hard to keep his relationship going with women's tennis star Kim Clijsters because they both travel so much, he responded: "Yeah, it's tough. But we try to play as many tournaments as we can together. And then we have weeks off. In one way it's easy because we both know the pressure of being in the top five in the world at such a young age."

I thought I'd post this here too

Q. Last time I saw you you had the hat backwards as a superstition. You've taken it off. Can you tell me the reason why? Will we continue to see you have this at the tournaments?

LLEYTON HEWITT: Have to wait and see how hot it is. I might have to wear it forwards. I've never really been superstitious. I just preferred to wear it backwards at the time. I took it off, I was getting a bit sick of wearing a hat. I don't know even why I did it. I cut my hair a bit shorter as well, which helped. (LMAO! :P)

Yeah, where's our Queen?

Watching Lleyton :p Why I wasn't online updating y'all : :fiery: :fiery: :fiery: I am going to f*cking kill my father!! He got home all happy and shit so I figured he'd let me have the tv in the living room which is also where they computer is. And I never usually watch tv when he's home BUT since he always lets my bro and sis watch whatever they want I figured there would no problem. But surprise suprise, he wouldn't let me have the tv :fiery: :fiery: And the thing that really really pisses me off is that he wasn't even watching anything, just flicking channels  So I ended up watching Lleyton's match in a total bad mood which totally ruined it. And now I'm too pissy to watch Battle at Bighorn ( made for tv golf thing with Tiger) so I'm here... not that you guys deserve my rage but somebody's gotta take it and my dad scares me :o Ugh I feel like bursting into tears   Perhaps I'll analyse the match for y'all tomorrow when I'm feeling better....

Angele

I also forgot to mention that another reason I got so pissed off is because I wanted to watch the Commonwealth games but the other tv in the house sucks so it doesn't get all the channels that the tv in the living room does ( ) so I couldn't watch that at all

You're BEAUTIFUL, Marly! :D

You know I'm gonna love you forever now, right? :p You're SO HANDSOME, Scotty! :D

I know what you mean about being bored. Like y'all know, all of my friends, female and male, are basically drunken sluts, so I don't hang out with them on the weekends. I'm lucky because I've always been able to mess around with my big sister and her friends, who are like 25 and up. Even when I was little, they always let me do stuff with them. They're fun. But as for people my own age that I talk to outside of school...well, y'all are basically it!

Keta, I hope your mom feels better soon! :bounce:

Thanks for the pics, Cilla. Lleyton was looking mighty fine last night, I must say. :lick: I happen to like the backwards baseball cap. :p That shirt is such a pretty color. I hope he wears that and black during the US Open.  Did any of y'all notice it's kinda meshy around his upper arms and shoulders? :wavey: Hi all I just watched the match & I have a lot to say so brace yourselves :p There were some really interesting comments from The commentators on LL's match Mark Petchey and Leif Shiras. I will deal with one involving Kim before I forget. Ok LL was starting to get a little down against Mantilla and Shiras had already mentioned previously that LL had spent the week he was ill with Kim in Palo Alto, Stanford. So anyway Petchey suggested that maybe the fact that he spent the week with Kim in Stan and the travel and the time difference had taken his toll. Then a few points elapsed and Petchey brought up the split with Darren Cahill he suggested that one of the reasons that trouble (or cracks began as Petch put it) Started to appear between Cahill and Lley was that he spent too much of his free time last year with Kim e.g spending a few extra days at one opf her tournies rather than coming to his own tournie and prepare apparantely Cahill didn't really like this. Opinions??

So anyway to the match LL was playing really great tennis in the 1st set and deserved to win it as he was totally in command. After he went up a break to go 4-3 up in the 2nd I and everyone else thought it was over bvut the momentum swiched when Mantilla forced a miracle backhand pass. LL applauded it but from there the momentum shifted, after LL threw in a df and was clearly rattled and Mantilla was in inspiration mode. So the rain came and LL lost his serve straight after to lose the set. He came out a bit slowly and you could sense the frustartion building. Anyway in the 3rd set LL had a few issues witn the lineswoman it was quite funny on one point she called a good serve a fault and he got right in her face and said "What are you doing??!" It sounded like an american accent lol!:p The unforced errors crept in and it was kinda like the Schalken match at Wimby he had so many BP opps but wasn't taking them. He had a chance to get back on serve whwn Mantilla served 4 the match and missed a piss easy put away. He was tight at that point. Anyway LL wasn't himself at the crucial points that he would usually put away but credit to Mantilla his backhand down the line worked like a charm. Anyway this loss will be no skin off LL's nose. Oh another point that Petch and Shiras made which I kinda agree is that LL often makes matches harder than he should e.g he should've won this match and the 2 Schalken matches at Wimby and Roland Garros and even Youzhny in Rossie-Opinions on this??

Well that's the low down on the match and other things. Phew!!!Anyway I'll end this post and continue in another-lol!! :D

Goonergal
07-30-2002, 03:32 PM
Marly-Of course LL was looking as fit as usual he was wearing his "That Bastard Alex Corretja hit me on the head with the ball and I've still got the clay stain to prove it" Hat :p But I didn't like the shirt color that greeney blue. Though I agree bring on the black at the open  and the red I miss that shirt! :p Yes I saw the patches too and they kinda did emphasise LL's Skinniness :o

Scott-2 beds in your room-Execllent! :p Don't start me on my Father  :fiery: I'll be here all night-lol!:p

Hewitt said ater defeat to Mantilla: "He played extremely well, and the [humid] conditions really helped him. I actually felt that I hit the ball pretty clean from the baseline. I had chances to break back but I wasn't able to do it. Come US Open time I have to play better on those important points."

I'm back... and in a better mood :D

Well I'm not going to analyse Lley's match for y'all cuz Cilla already did an awesome job of that but I will say that he made way too many errors and also playing... different! I've never seen him come to net so many time and as much as I hate to admit it his volleys simply aren't good enough for him to be at net so much :o

Seems Lley is becoming more friendly too lol... he did a pre tournament interview with one of the TSN guys ( ) which they just showed. No good questions though, the same old things he gets asked all the time  Like if his Wimby victory has set in yet and how he can always be so concentrated and intense... Lley is so cute though, so shy.... he was always looking at the floor during the interview lol

Goonergal
07-30-2002, 05:16 PM
Thanx Angele  Glad you are in a better mood. I have to say I do agree about LL's volleys but he can be really great at the net e.g In the Final of the USO 2001 One stat that sticks out in my mind is 8 times ventured to the net 100% Record. So he has got the ability but as a baseliner it is not natural in his game to be venturing into the net so much. He will never be a Rafter or a Cash when it comes to net play. see when we are discussing tennis Spritfullfrog is never around!:p

You're right Cilla, he does have the ability to be good at net but he just came in way too much last night! I'm trying to find the exact number but I can't. I do know that they showed stats last night during the match and at one point he had come to net 20 times  And this was before the rain break

Cilla, Angele.... of course I'll pick you up at the airport! You guys can take my room, there are two beds.

Ooh, can I come too? Cilla and Angele can take one bed, and I'll share with Scott. :o :o ;)

I have more girl friends than guy friends, but my guy friends are so much more relaxing to be around. They're a lot more, well, simple. And plus I can talk sports with them, whereas with the girls I can just feel my eyes glazing over when they start up with the makeup and hair crap.

I like my dad pretty well. He was a travelling salesman up until the time I was 6, which meant he wasn't home much, so we never really got that whole father-daughter bond thing down good. We get along okay most of the time. The big problem is that while I have more of my mom's personality (I'm just like a younger, taller version of her :o ) I have my dad's temperment, so we get pissed off at each other a lot. Patience is NOT a virtue either one of us posesses. We yell at each other a lot, particularly when we're working.

By the way, Marly, I finally sent your postcard yesterday!

Ah, I take it you don't need my address again then? I'm such a slack-ass when it comes to replying to PMs. :o

The commentators on LL's match Mark Petchey and Leif Shiras. Opinions??

Well, I don't think that staying with Kim in Stanford had much, if anything, to do with Lleyton's loss. I just think he hasn't completely adjusted to the hard courts yet, and he's still feeling the effects of his illness. However, saying that, it might've been a better idea for Lleyton to leave a little earlier than he did, instead of staying for Kim's semi-final.

Now the rest of this is very, very interesting. Actually, Ingrid and I have discussed this several times before.

If my memory serves, Lleyton was with Kim in Stanford last year before flying to Toronto (or Montreal or whatever it was last year) and losing. After playing in Stanford, she lost in the 2nd round at the eStyle.com classic, whatever name that goes by now. I don't know what they did the rest of that week. Then Kim played the big women's tournament in Canada, and Lleyton played in Cincy. I don't remember if he played in Indianapolis last year, but if he did, we can safely assume he flew to Kim's tournament when he lost. She also played in a tournament the week before the Open; that's where she injured her hamstring and had to pull out in the SFs.

Anyways. My point is that whenever one of them lost early or had a week off, they were together.

I don't know if y'all ever heard this or not, but there was an incident during a practice session at one of these tournaments (maybe Ingrid remembers) between Lleyton and Cahill. Apparently, Cahill said something to him, and they got in an argument which ended when Lleyton fired a tennis ball at him and walked off.

This is where Ingrid and I came in. We figure, as this Petchey dude apparently does, that Cahill didn't like the fact that Lleyton was spending his free time with Kim. I guess he thought it was affecting Lleyton's tennis, and keeping him from focusing like Cahill thought he should. Our hypothesis is that Cahill brought it up and told Lleyton he needed to cut down on his Kim-time, or said something disparaging about her, etc. And of course, that pissed Lleyton off, and who can blame him? And it also pissed off Glynn and Cherilyn as it's obvious that they both adore Kim. I doubt it sat well with Kim herself, not that she would make an issue of it.

So, yeah. I think Petchey is right on the money with what he said. I don't think being with Kim affects Lleyton's tennis negatively (the opposite, in fact) but I think that their relationship grated on Cahill's nerves for some reason, be it in a personal or professional aspect, and was probably the main reason why he was replaced.

I think it's fairly safe to assume that both Marly and Ingrid are far too intelligent for me :o

I never even heard about the arguement (note: this is where you guys fill me in :o ) and I never even thought about what you just wrote about Marly :o Having said that, I totally agree except I don't think Darren would say something bad about Kim (at least I hope not  ) however I agree, he probably did have a problem with Lley spending so much of his free time with her. I also think that it probably helps Lleyton to be with her as much as possible. Keeps him relaxed and down to earth, at least I think. And it's not as if Lleyton's career has gone downhill since he started dating Kim  :p

I don't think he came out and said, you know, "Stop hanging around your bitchy girlfriend and acting like a nympho," or anything, but you never know. Some of the rudest, most immature and ill-behaved people I've come across in my life have been adults. Anything's possible, if not terribly likely.

Yeah you're right... and I guess also in the heat of the moment Darren could of said something bad about Kim without meaning it (at least I hope not) cuz I don't think Darren hates Kim or anything lol

I don't think he hates her, either. She'd been with Lleyton for about a year and a half at this point; if he really disliked her personally, it would've been hard to hold in that long. Besides, how can you not like Kimmy?

You're right, he has to like Kimmie... well not has to but I can't see he wouldn't like her. Although the more I think of it the more I can see that from a coach's point of view their relationship could sometimes be, not a bother but... just when they spend time with each other instead of being out practicing or whatever. Not that's it's a bad thing by any means that they spend tons of time together but if Darren was uptight at all, which he kinda seemed to be, I can see that a problem would arise... don't think anything was due to not liking Kim personally though!

KaseyL

Marly, as to that stuff about Darren, yep, we have had some chats about that, didn't we LOL.

Right now I can't remember when that incident between Lleyton and Darren happened, I think Indianapolis but I am not sure about it, am way too tired right now to be able of remembering much :o ...

Anyway, not long after that, Lleyton's parents stopped talking to Darren, that I know for sure.

As far as I recall now, Darren didn't like Lleyton and Kim being together when they had an early loss in a tournament, or at least that was said. He'd rather had Lleyton focusing on the next tourney instead of going to Kim's tourney or Kim coming to his tournament, it all had to do with something like that, as far as I can remember right now.

And Angele, I don't think for a second that Darren didn't like Kim. I suppose it must have been a purely professional opinion, maybe fearing that Lleyton would loose focus at a certain point if Kim would be too much 'in the picture', something like that.

Although I am convinced that being together does help them, instead of being a cause for an early loss. Their ranking is proof enough.

I totally agree! Their careers have only gotten better since they've started dating so Darren didn't have a valid arguement if that indeed was what was bugging him. Anyways I hope Jason isn't as uptight as Darren was re Kim :)

Being together for them should help them having a normal balance (or rather "as normal" as "normal" can be on tour anyway) between work (read tennis) and a happy private life.

Anyways I hope Jason isn't as uptight as Darren was re Kim :)

If I were guessing, I'd say that Jason's acceptance of Lleyton's relationship with Kim was something that came up early in their discussions. I imagine Lleyton basically said, if you can't handle the fact that Kim's my girlfriend, you're not gonna be my coach. It doesn't seem to me that Jason minds a bit; in fact, I'd say he enjoys having Kim and Hayden to sit with in the player's box.

Besides, he was still playing when Lleyton and Kim first got together, so he's seen the development of their relationship from another point of view besides that of just a coach. He's gotten to know them both first as fellow players, and he's seen the way their relationship has developed and deepened and strengthened, and how they've grown and matured together, on the court and off. I seriously doubt that he disapproves of Lleyton spending time with Kim at all.

Don't think that Jason would have a similar reaction. As Marly says, first of all, he has been an outsider and when he signed on for the job, he knew about Kim and Lleyton. And I am quite sure that Lleyton or his parents would have brought up that subject too, imo.

btw I never believed that Darren split up with Lleyton because of not being allowed to travel with his family. That was just a lame excuse not to touch the real story imo.

I know how you feel Marly, once in school I was painting then suddenly I threw up (this was primary school) and the whole class was like "eeeew" I was SO embarassed!
Anyway I have to leave you and go to bed! Adios! :wavey:

When I was in first grade I threw up patatoes behind the door of the classroom :o :o

Bye Scotty

They'll probably tap the phones too

lol... I also think the real reason they pay Hayden to travel with Lleyton is so he can give them detailed updates of what the love birds have been up to :o

I have to agree with you guys about the parents. I always feel slightly annoyed if players whose parents aren't the coach, are always hanging around. To my mind, it's not like anything is going to happen their children, they are on the tour where security is always around. It especially galls me, when they have other children. It's like what about them. I find it interesting while Lleyton's parents are always around, Kim's parents(or her mother at least , is usually with Elke). That makes more sense to me, she's younger, just like Jaslyn is. I could forgive the grandslams, but do they have to be at every tournament? I mean can't one parent be with one child and vice versa? I just hope this doesn't cause resentment between Jaslyn and Lleyton. By the way some articles suggest that Kim's coach left for the same reason(spending too much time with Lleyton). Also her recent losses have convinced people, you should read some of the things posted at WTA World. Finally I know this is superficial, but seeing that Lleyton lost so early, and therefore I didn't get to see him play, can anyone tell me what he was wearing(I mean colour,etc.).

Ugh, that's so ridiculous. The reason she hasn't played as well this year is because of her injury, not Lleyton.

He had on white shorts, a lovely teal shirt, and a white baseball cap worn backwards. :lick:

Hi Virgil! As Angele says!

But re that nonsense on wta sometimes, don't get me started there...

And these articles aren't really right in that area. Kim and Carl do have a good understanding. His resignation had nothing to do with that, at least not directly at all.

:wavey: Virgil! Glad to see you posting :D

You threw up potatoes Angele? Sorry, but LMAO.

If only TBE was around to hear this lol... I had never though of it that way although I must agree, it's pretty funny :o :p :D

About Carl though, I wonder what was the main reason for him leaving?? I was never really too convinced with what I read about the split

I don't really think we will know the real truth about either of their coaching splits :( Both excuses seem pretty lame-not to diss either of them but I think I have an article about LL n Darren and it said LL tried to beg Darren to saty, personally I can't see LL begging to anyone he is way to stubborn :o

BTW I meant not to diss Carl and Darren ;)

I found it:

Stoltenberg "Surprised" To Replace Cahill As Hewitt's Coach

The Daily Telegraph, an Australian newspaper, reports that Cahill informed Hewitt of his decision to step down as coach during an emotional dinner meeting last week and that Hewitt reportedly begged Cahill to remain as his coach. But Cahill put his family ahead of his position.
