LMAO.. I only just worked out where the score came from... I was a bit mad after Kim's loss and just shut down and ignored the AO site.. I forgot AA's semi was today :o.... 6-2 6-2 6-3 :o :o well that's Wayne taken care off... and the other two left are Roddick and Schuettler... hrmm... things are really looking good for him..

What subjects are you doing in school?

Nymeria

I'm doing a medical study.
It's difficult to explain (Even in Dutch :D ).
I have to translate it with:
Medical imageforming technics. It's something with rontgen, etc.
I can't explain, because I don't know the English words :D

Ah! So things like X-Rays and Magnetic Resonance Imaging? (don't know what they'd be in Dutch :o )

At the moment, I'm qualified as a chemist (LOL) but I'm currently trying to be a mathematician (LOL) ... but my math boss is on leave and I need the money, so right now I'm doing a small project for a computer scientist (LMAO).

Nymeria
01-23-2003, 09:48 AM
Yeah, exactly, X-rays and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (In dutch we always say MRI, we use the English words, I only forgot we used it :D )

I started this study an half year ago, but before I did also want to be a mathematician. Because I love math :D (All my friends say I'm crazy because I like math)

Puss-in-Boots
01-23-2003, 09:51 AM
Ah, math is fantastic...:hearts:

It was my first love... but my parents wanted me to do something more "applied".. well actually, they were pushing hard for me to do medicine, but I'd be hopeless as a medical doctor... I ..err.. can be impatient and bad-tempered at times.. :o

So...I did a chem/math double major for my first degree... just finished a chemistry PhD (big, big mistake, didn't suit me and I was unhappy)... but I want to give up chemistry and so right now I'm working with one of my former math professors...

Where do you study this? Medical Imageforming is really interesting!! I'm making a thesis on detecting epilepsy with use of EEG scans.

For me it's easy, the threads I visit are in Dutch or in English, and I understand both. :D
I not often visit wtaworld, just since a few days (my nickname there is Fonky). At this site I visit the thread of Belgium boys, and that's in Dutch too, I'm the only one there who's not from Belgium!! :D

I signed up on WTAworld in July. I'm 'Dr.Peedy' (same here, but with no space lol) there.....I rarely post there though.... I only signed up here in September... but I hang out here much much more....

Oh... these days the only posts I make on WTAworld are in the FWTT game forum... so you prolly won't have heard of me there... besides that I think I've crossed swords with some 'pot is sinful' people in NT several months back... but arguing takes so much time, so I just chatter here.

I prefer atpworld, just because I like men's tennis more. At women tour I only support Kim.

Puss-in-Boots

That's pretty much the same with me.... also I think the atmosphere here is nicer... people on WTAworld seem to like to fight a lot....

Nymeria

Nymeria
01-23-2003, 10:16 AM
I also visit a Dutch board, where are very friendly people, but the problem is the people almost never chat at that board, I added the friendliest people of that board I added to my msn. That's why i usually come here. There are almost always people around here.

I guess this board is unusual in that they are very liberal with 'off-topic' posts, which I like....

I used to (rarely these days) visit a couple of other boards... to do with computer games I play... one of them is an online game whose playing population is mainly boys in the 10-14 year old age group, and OMG, those boards are bloody atrocious... I only go there if I need news on updates or quests...

The second game (DopeWars) is more for adult players but the boards are always so political all the time... constant fights between different cartels...

Hey guys :wavey: Lol I just got home from my english exam (on Captain Corelli's Mandolin), I should have worded it better :o It was an hour, it went ok but I feel that I left out some points

Now with an all Pred Final and DH in the final all it needs is for RodPrick to win & I think I'll throw myself off a bridge :o :o

Captain Corelli's Mandolin... I haven't read it... what's it about?

Nymeria

I almost never support the german's, but now I really hope Schuettler is going to win

Puss-in-Boots

this board is nicer because there aren't many people on it...WTAworld was absolutely great when it was smaller..but the more people the more annoying posters...

Hrmm... I wish I knew more languages.... English is the only language I use these days...

My parents are of Chinese ancestry, but I never learnt the language, and I spoke English at home. I spent the first 13 years of my life in Malaysia, where I had to learn Malay in primary school... but it is totally rusty now.

So, I kinda have like 1.5 languages... that's it :p

Captain Corelli's Mandolin... I haven't read it... what's it about?

God where to start! Well basically it's a bout a little Greek Island called Cephellonia & it's set around the time of the 2nd world war. The plot centres around the community, but in paticular Dr. Iannis and his Daughter Pelagia. Pelagia is due to marry Mandras an attractive but Illiterate fisherman. It's obvious that they are not suited but it's a love story so  Mandras goes off to fight in the war to prove that he is worthy enough to marry Pelagia. Mandras gets brainwashed by the Communist leader Hector who is crazy on theory. Meanwhile Captain Corelli is introduced as the Italians invade Cepellonia he stays with Dr.Iannis and Pelagia and how predictably they fall in love  :p Mandras returns from the war disesed, sickly (really graphic war imagery *yuck* :p) and Pelagia realises she doesn't want Mandras @ all. Corelli is a musician who plays the mandolin  and he & Pelagia fall in love blah blah :p Then the Germans attack the Italian Army and the Carlo the gay, burly friendly army officer saves Corelli by sacrificing his life for him (he is in love with Corelli :p) They don't know he's gay though until they read these letters he wrote before he died. Corelli has to leave Greece and Pelagia (war business :p) He never returns and Pelagia waits for him. A baby appears on her doorstep so she (as babies do) she loks after it and names it Antonia (The name that Antonio Corelli calls his mandolin :o) There is an earthquake and Dr.Iannis dies but Antonia grows up and marries and has a son and what do they call it that's right Iannis  who just happens to grow up loving the Mandolin and knowing Corelli  (theres so many co-incedences in this novel it's untrue) Corelli comes back for Pelagia and he gives the lame ass excuse that he never came to see her coz he saw her with the baby and assumed she was married or ***** or something  Oh yeah I forgot Mandras was shot by Pelagia after he came back again from war and tried to **** her :o The he killed himself by throwing himself into the sea  So anyway Pelagia went off with Corelli on the back of his motorbike into the sunset (still a virgin at 80 years old :o :o ) The ending is shite :p So you can see I've spent wayyyy too long on this book :p

Nymeria
01-23-2003, 11:24 AM
It's a good idea to learn it first, if we have a thread here we can help each other with learning the language, it would make it much easier to learn it for me.
It also the way I learned English, posting a lot in English, my English already a lot better as a year ago.

Puss-in-Boots
01-23-2003, 11:28 AM

Oh, this elvish sentence you have to know, it's important in lotr:

I amar prestar aen, han mathon ne nen, han mathon ne chae a han noston ned 'wilith. [Translation: "The world is changed; I can feel it in the water, I can feel it in the earth, I can smell it in the air."]

Oh this cheers me up considerably...forget the AO! Elvish awaits! :D

Nymeria

When I saw the movie, I tried to remember the elvish words they used, but I only remembered Mellon, and after some time I remembered Havo dad too. LL is always like that when he watches Kim. He has always said he gets very nervous watching her play. In fact, you'll find many pics of him biting nails while watching her. After he won USO, he was asked if he was nervous playing in his 1st finals and LL said it was nothing compared to watching Kim play the finals of FO in 2001. He said he felt powerless, useless sitting in the stands coz he had no control over the match.

He's very mellow off court. He'll only yell come on Kim! if she's down. Otherwise he'll just nod when she looks up at him. You'll only notice the nod if you look closely.

For the match our commentators were Jonh Mcenroe and Liz Smilie and When they were talking about how kim gets soo much support in Aus and Mac said it was ebacsue she was soon to become an Aussie Citizen. for LLeyton, he was a great support. It's like someone said, he looks just like that, bec he's nervous, nut he's always very involved and gives her confidence. Kim's in his box just like that too, without a lot of emotions. Me guess it's just not to show you're nervous.

Kim's staying in Australia till Thursday, she still has a couple of things to do, her coach said. (maybe John was right;):p)

LOL! @ Johny Mac. He's such a hoot. LL would suck at commentating during Kim's match.
And I can't stand that Chris Fowler guy either. His whistling was getting on my nerves. And Antwerp tourney starts in the 2nd week of Feb right? I think Kim'll go to Adelaide with Lleyton and then next tuesday or thursaday LL has to go to Sydnet for DC practice. I think she'll take her flight to Belgium from Sydney.

What do you guys think?

I always wonder how he reacts to some of Kim's matches while watching them... after all, it's not as though there's a male equivalent of the Williams sisters that threaten to completely roll over him. Maybe Gonzalez at his absolute best, but that's about it.

No doubt about it though, those two doubles to start the 5-4 game were definitely signs of choking. For all that talk about how much Lleyton's never-die attitude has rubbed off on Kim, you'd never see that from him when trying to close out a match.

Considering the way he served in those TMS finals against Moya and Safin though, you never know...

Look at this article:

"Llodra and Santoro move closer
Thursday, 23 January, 2003
by Martin Cox

Reigning men's doubles champions Michael Llodra and Fabrice Santoro are just one win away from defending their title.

The French No.8 seeds needed three sets to overcome the South African pairing of Jeff Coetzee and Chris Haggard, winning 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.

A rematch of last year's final now looms, if No.1 seeds Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor can beat Gaston Etlis and Martin Rodiguez tonight."

They lost in the finals last year, lmao! I should be a tennis writer, I could do so much better.

I'm going to watch the women's doubles final tonight... I'm sure the Williams sisters will probably win but I need to support Vivi/Paola. I hope they can make a dent. They're a great little team... both small players that win with guile. It's why I like tennis.

It took me some time to fall asleep and then I woke up a couple of times... I think I need a good night's sleep tonight!

Did anyone else notice that Malivai kept talking about how hard it was going to be for Kim to keep up with Venus in the match? That was just pathetic. I kept yelling, "Serena! Serena! Moron!"
I sort of like Pam Shriver, though. Realistically, she thinks the Williams sisters are far ahead, but I really do think she likes Kim. In the US Open she was the one who kept eminding everyone that Capriati could play Momo OR Kim in the quarters. Plus, I liked her thing about "junior tennis hanky-panky." :D Did anyone else hear that one? It was a couple of matches back.

Yeah, it'll be hard. I cried when Davenport/Morariu lost the finals to them in 2001. It wasn't Corina's fault... she wasn't intimidated at all (even when they hit the ball right at her - well, Serena did, not so much Venus). But, Davenport choked. I hope Corina comes back healthy sometime :(

Individually, Vivi and Paola can't contend with the sisters, but together they're an amazing team. I hope they beat them. I know they can.

I couldn't sleep well either.

Ok, there was a really nice interview with Kims father in a Belgian magazine...

I only picked a couple of quotes on Lleyton, from his father in law.:p

*The Australians consider Kim andf Lleyton as Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, part two? Isn't their relationship under a lot of pressure?
- I think they handle it pretty well. As I hear from Kim, there are constantly cameras at their house. As for now, Kim thinks about it as a game.

*Lleyton's in not the mister popular in Australia. How difficult is it for him?
Lleyton doesn't need all people liking him. In that way, he's pretty much like me. And Kim, yeah Kim, it doesn't bother her so far.

*What do you think of his behaviour on court?
-I think it's wonderful, without him, male tennis would be pretty boring.

*You want your daughter to enjoy tennis, and then, on a certain day, she arrives at home with Lleyton. Did you fear for her carreer?
-(laughing) We never made a planning. And she's old enough and cerainly smart enough to chose her boyfriend. Relationship or no relationship, Kim still plays with the same attitude as when she was 12.

...
If Kim and Lleyton want to practice in Belgium, I always rent 3 courts at different clubs. When people see them too much, they can't train as they want, bec there are always 100, 200 people around the courts. If they want to spend a day in Antwerp, I make a hotelroom reservation using another name. And if they want to visit the zoo, I make an agreement with the direction, so they won't have to go through the normal entrance.

*About Kim's long term ambitions...
- Her long term goal is to raise her children without tennis. Maybe she thinks it's time in three years.
*When it's about tennis, she doesn't look any further ahead than 2005?
- I really think she'll have enough by then, yes. If she keeps playing at this level for another 3 years, she doesn't need to do anything else ever. And then, it's up to her whre she wants to live, Bree or Adelaide. I really think Lleyton has the same plans, yes.:eek::hearts::hearts:

*Do you have confidence in their relationship?
- Pfff, Can't say much about that. 3/4 of all the people I meet, are divorced. So, let them find out if they are made for each other.

Knockers LaBroad
01-23-2003, 09:47 PM

I'll revise later :p My exams only start on Tuesday so I still have a couple of days lol

I'm feeling better as well, I'm starting to see clearer lol... Actually, the first thing that made me feel better was, of all things, Serena's interview  :o lol... she said that right after the match she and Kim were joking around in the locker room so I figure if Kim can be happy a couple of minutes after a bad loss, I certainly don't need to cry about it for days lol

I'd love for them to play mixed doubles so we can read their joint interview :D

Glad you all like the interview, I think Lei is proud of Lleyton as he's proud of his own daughters.

Lleyton must have been pretty vocal, according to someone on WTA, who's been there, yelling, clapping, giving her advice,... It's a shame he always collapses when he sees a camera...

After the ironing board story, nothing is shocking :p

Deux coming near is enough to send anybody leaping out of their seats :o I wonder why Lleyton leaves so quickly  It's probably because he wants to avoid the media/fans but I'd like to think it's because he wants to be the first person to talk to Kimmie after her match :D

lol when he was yelling near the end and the camera went on him and he saw it and promptly shut up.

Yeah it was a Let's go Kim I think when it was 5 all. He'd better be louder when Kim wins a slam :p :p And I expect to see some Lleyki Fists too esp @ RG seeing as Kim probably has a better shot of winning that than Lleyton too :o

I'll be glad when the open is over as well. I love it and all but the time difference, geez, there's nothing worse. And if Lleyton and Kim would of won, of course the time difference thing would of been forgotten but Lley/Kim losing + being tired + ( for me) that time of the month  = Hell :o

Lleyton said that, without a doubt, Kim asked him if he would like to become Belgian... But he's a real Aussie.

BTW, there's also more information in that interview about Kim becoming an Aussie. Her dad said if it depended on him or his advisors, Kim was already Australian. But Kim herself puts it on a hold.

I'm off to bed! Good night/day!
