I have a question for anyone who read this :p.. did kims mother have cancer?
I was just talking with ùy mother about els because last year she was in the hospital and my mother isa nurse and had to take care of her.. and that was around the 11th september and kim called to her mother and was crying and screaming because she was sooo afraid to take a plane to or from tokyo.. but probably y'all already knew that..

btw I asked you taht because my mother won't tell me why els was there but probably someone of you know that?

Well, I know that Kim's mom had cancer, but I don't know when she was treated for that. For some reason, I thought it was longer than 1 year ago. Ingrid would know. Not sure if it matters; the family probably wants to keep that stuff private.

freakske

I'm posting from my new computer! :D

Yay! :D

What a good day. Eric's sweet package and my new computer. Too bad Eric isn't having a good day.

I'm so pissed at his doctor and father. I convinced him to go because he's been depressed and the doctor determined that YES, he IS depressed. A chemical imbalance. BUT HE DIDN'T GIVE ERIC ANY PRESCRIPTIONS. HELLO, MORON! If someone is depressed because of something chemical you give them medication! He told Eric that he should come back next semester if he's still depressed. I wonder how many people have killed themselves during his waiting period. Asshole. He should be banned from practicing medicine.

How did Paradorn suddenly get so good? Can you say "steroids"?

Els :( I hope everything is ok with her... and I assume it must be since we haven't heard anything and that hospital visit would of been over a year ago... probably just a routine check up like Jilli said :)

And I feel bad for Kim... I think I would of been too scared to fly right after September 11th :(

Angele
10-30-2002, 07:04 PM
I have no idea which hole Paradon crawled out of lately but he should crawl right back in

right now to try to cheer him up I'm rewritting the song "Complicated" to "Constipated"

Scotso
10-30-2002, 07:14 PM
this is what I have so far:

I'm so scared that the way that I feel is written all over my face
When I walk into the bathroom I just wanna quicken the pace
I used to poo, I used to crap, I used to leave some do do.
But now it seems nothing I do can make me come unglued.

It's such a complication
Do I sit or squat
It feels like a contraction
Oh, the way I need to shit

I'm so constipated
I'm so frustrated,
I wanna sit, I wanna shit,
I wanna make it go, I wanna make it flow.
Should I push it?
Should I squeeze me insides?
Oh, I want you to know, but then again I don't,
I'm so constipated

Just when I think it's under control, I think it's finally on it's way
My insides lock up and the poo ain't comin' out.
I say it's more than just some bowels, I say it must be hell.
Well, I admit that I've tried everything but I just can't cool it down.
Oh, it's so painful,
Yeah, I should just confess.

Kim's mom had liver cancer, which is a very nasty cancer. She had surgery in 99, when Kim played Wimbledon. (I think it was a transplant, but I might be wrong, don't quote me on the transplant)
I don't know how things developed afterwards. When I last saw her in February (I was sitting close to her) she looked really fine imo.

What did they say in Knack? worth buying?
Is it an article about Kim? Or just a tiny bit?

Scotso
10-30-2002, 09:43 PM
I plan on it, Ingrid ;)

KaseyL
10-30-2002, 09:44 PM
def. not saying that we should buy it, no

they didn't mention Kim in particular: said it was almost every famous Flemish person figuring naked in it.

a sec, I'll translate a summary it for everyone here

Angele
10-30-2002, 09:50 PM
:wavey:

I'm back :p

KaseyL
10-30-2002, 09:51 PM
they wrote that the author was on a vacation mentally speaking, when he worked on this album,

that they had delivered "stories" with as many as possible famous Flemish people in the nude, and with a level of humour that to the author's standards was especially "hot" re the sexual level,
they also said that the stuff would appear in series in Ché (for the non-Flemish, a male magazine).

Knockers LaBroad
10-30-2002, 09:56 PM
I was too curious and went to the bookshop to look...:o
(very low, I know) but Kims pic wasn't perv. everything was pretty much covered. But I read much better strips(KIEKEBOE!!)
But I hope Kim or Lei didn't hear about it.

Angele
10-30-2002, 09:58 PM
So are these pictures like actual Kim pictures or just cartoons?

KaseyL
10-30-2002, 09:58 PM
cont:

Knack writes that all famous Flemish are in it, no one seems to escape the 'treatment', prince Filip and all, and evryone is portrayed in embarassing to painful situations

wrapping it up, they say it's of the level of drunken bar humour
which you best read when you're rather drunk yourself.

KaseyL
10-30-2002, 10:00 PM
they are cartoons, Angele

I don't think Kim would ever allow any nude pics, not like some of the other people figuring in this "comic" btw

Knockers LaBroad
10-30-2002, 10:01 PM
thank God, they are only cartoons! Pics, don't even wanna think about the reactions...
Even when I'm drunk, my level won't fall that deep, at least I hope!

Angele
10-30-2002, 10:02 PM
I know Kim would never pose nude but i'm sure they'd have their way of making it appear that way... using somebody's elses body or coloring in or something :o

KaseyL
10-30-2002, 10:04 PM
I hope so too, Elke! Geee

All to make sure his crap sells!

I haven't checked out the thing yet, def. not going to buy it, they say in Knack it costs € 5.45, and the luxury version € 49.95 pffff can better throw my money in the gutter then!

I am glad Kim isn't portrayed too nude in this then, pfff

Can you agree with Knack, Elke? as you have seen it?

Angele
10-30-2002, 10:06 PM
Well i'm glad it's just cartoon and that everything is covered... could be a lot worse!

Knockers LaBroad
10-30-2002, 10:09 PM
I expected it much worse, to tell the truth. Nothing wrong, (in this situation) she didn't even belong in the story.
And with those 50 Euros, I would save it and go to Antwerp next year, much better spending!
Thanx for the idea!:)

KaseyL
10-30-2002, 10:12 PM

so Kim is still better off (if I can put it this way) than most of the other famous Flemish people, then?

I think she'd just like to have more time to spend with Lleyton but it's still a lame excuse because what's the difference between dating and not seeing much of each other or being married and not seeing much of each other  Granted I've never been married but it can't be too different lol... they spend every single minute of their free time together anyway and when they're together they live together and everything so basically i'm a bit

Not-So-Super Superstate
A bad thing gets bigger.

By Hugo Gurdon

"Yes" means yes and "no" means maybe — at least that's so among Europe's new masters. Which is ironic, because the continental bien pensants would shudder if they heard this excuse for harassment and manipulative control in another circumstance. But when it is only democracy that's getting screwed, they don't mind a bit.

Which brings us to why Americans should care about this month's Irish referendum ratifying the Treaty of Nice. Its supporters, including American newspapers that should have known better, appeared to believe that all the treaty did was admit ten former Communist countries to the European Union. This was seen as a triumph — recently freed nations joining what purported to be the democratic, free-market fold.

The truth, however, is very different. What really happened was that the European Union moved past the tipping point beyond which its development into an anti-democratic, anti-American, anti-free market superstate ceases to be an uphill struggle and becomes a downhill gallop.

The EU has admitted new member countries three times since the Irish joined in 1973, but this was the first time Ireland needed a referendum. That's because Irish law demands that voters give their permission before sovereignty is drained from their national parliament. And the Treaty of Nice — named after the French resort town where it was drafted — involves a massive transfer of power away from the people of Europe and their elected representatives to an unelected authority in Brussels.

You may object — how can a referendum be undemocratic? Here's how. The Irish already voted, 16 months ago, to reject Nice. But only "yes" votes are regarded as permanent in modern Europe; the people building a multilateral state on the other side of the Atlantic see "no" votes as temporary aberrations in which the plebs got the answer wrong and have to be asked the question again after a period of re-education.

So, when the Irish said in June 2000 that they would like to continue governing themselves, the tax-financed "yes" camp mounted a campaign to change their minds. The same thing happened ten years ago when the Danes rejected the Maastricht Treaty that actually created the EU. Their shocked masters simply scheduled a second vote and poured sufficient money into the propaganda campaign to secure the answer they wanted.

To make even surer this time round, Dublin actually rigged the vote. On the last day before parliament's Christmas break in 2001, when many legislators had gone home, it rushed through an amendment to the referendum law, ending its obligation to present voters with both sides of the argument. And the referendum question tied approval for Nice to a vote for non-participation in an EU army, thus herding people who wanted to keep Ireland's traditional neutrality into the "yes" or, "ok," corral.

This anti-democratic manipulation should come as no surprise, for the EU is an inherently undemocratic institution. The European Commission, a bureaucracy, is the only body allowed to propose legislation. Think of it for a moment — elected politicians may consider only those policies that bureaucrats put in front of them.

But again, why should the United States care about this? Because the EU is exporting its methods of governance and, with ruthless determination (and dishonesty), is attempting to demolish the concept of national sovereignty. It is already far along that road among the EU's 15 nations, but it wants similarly to cage American sovereignty within multilateral frameworks and legalisms.

Let's look at the treaty. It abolishes national veto rights, so member nations can neither opt out of nor prevent continent-wide standardization in 39 key policy areas. It begins harmonizing criminal law, so offences in each nation will no longer be based on the mores or traditions — or the democratic judgment — of that country's citizens. Liberal pressure groups are already planning pan-continental challenges to domestic laws on abortion, divorce, and euthanasia.

Worst of all, perhaps, is the treaty's mechanism to strip member nations of their vote in EU affairs if they breach EU human rights standards, the nature of which may be judged by a decision in the late 1990s when Britain was ordered, on human-rights grounds, to scrap laws banning sadomasochistic torture. The centralizing EU elite can be expected to disenfranchise nation's that slow down the creation of the superstate.

The EU project, which began as an effort to enfold Germany in a constitutional embrace that would prevent it plunging Europe into war again, has turned into an overweening drive to subordinate all member states to a Franco-German command based in Brussels. The suppression of national sovereignty has become the cardinal aim, for that is what makes the EU a power to be reckoned with globally.

Now it is turning that effort on to the United States. It is the EU leaders, France and Germany, that most vociferously oppose America's right to decide that self-defense and enlightened self-interest make it wise to take military action against Iraq, unilaterally if necessary. It is the EU that is most determined to force the United States back into the economy-hobbling Kyoto climate change treaty. And Pascal Lamy, the EU trade commissioner, has made it clear he intends using the World Trade Organization, which originally buttressed national sovereignty, into a tool of European policy.

Two years ago next month, Jacques Chirac, the French president, speaking at the Hague about Kyoto, said: "I call upon the United States of America…to cast aside their doubts and hesitations…[and join in] building this unprecedented instrument, the first component of an authentic global governance…"

Just as the builders of the European Union are burying the nation state on their own continent, so they are working toward the imposition of global governance. EU power blooms amid multilateral structures that militate against American power. That is now the EU's raison d'etre.

Having twice in the past century sent its sons to fight in Europe, with great loss of life, America understandably wants to see the development of a united Europe as benign. But the lens of 20th-century war now prevents America from seeing the European Union properly, and it needs to be put aside. European leaders do not hide their ambition to make the EU a global counterweight and rival to America; we should take them at their word.

Canada issues U.S. travel warning
From Elise Labott

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Canada issued a travel advisory this week urging Canadian citizens born in Iran, Iraq, Libya, Sudan and Syria to consider avoiding travel to the United States.

The advisory, released by the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, was in response to U.S. legislation passed after the September 11 attacks authorizing the Immigration and Naturalization Service to monitor the entry and exit of citizens from those countries.

Such monitoring allows those individuals to be photographed and fingerprinted.

Canada considers the regulations "discriminatory" and "unfriendly," a Canadian official told CNN.

The government of Canada warned "Canadians who were born in the above countries or who may be citizens of these countries to consider carefully whether they should attempt to enter the United States for any reason, including transit to or from third countries," the advisory said.

It also warned Canadians that the increased activity may lead to delays at U.S. immigration checkpoints.

An amendment to the United States National Security Entry Exit Registration System, or NSEERS, adds Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Yemen as countries whose citizens could "attract special attention," the advisory warns.

A spokesman for the Canadian Foreign Ministry told CNN his government feels the law is "discriminatory"

"These people should not be singled out by their country of birth," said spokesman Reynald Foiron in a telephone interview Wednesday.

"If the United States doesn't have a reasonable doubt about someone's activities, country of birth should not be taken into account."

The measure is "contrary to American and Canadian principles" as well as against Canadian laws governing nondiscrimination," Foiron said. "It chastises the rights of freedom."

Foiron said Canada and the United States have enjoyed excellent security cooperation, which makes the regulations unnecessary.

"Why would having this help?" Foiron said. "If the United States has a specific case, they can bring it to our attention within the normal channels between our security agencies.

"We don't need this blanket measure. It's unfriendly."

The State Department said it was not surprised that Canada advised its citizens on how they could be affected

"We have plenty of warnings for American citizens around the world, and it's just advice to people to tell them what to expect," said State Department spokesman Richard Boucher. "And governments do that because they have an obligation to their own citizens."

Canadian Foreign Minister Bill Graham made a strong appeal to Secretary of State Colin Powell regarding the issue during a meeting last month in the margins of the U.N. General Assembly, Foiron said.

Graham voiced concern that some Canadian citizens would be affected by the legislation. He has argued that Canadian citizens be exempted.

Last month a man with joint Canadian-Syrian citizenship was detained by U.S. authorities in New York while changing planes at John F. Kennedy Airport and was deported to Syria. Canada protested on the grounds the man should have been sent back to Canada.

Foiron said Powell indicated there could be "some flexibility" relating to the citizens from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Yemen, because those countries were added in an executive order.

But regulations on citizens from countries covered by NSEERS would have to be changed by Congress.

Boucher agreed the United States and Canada had good cooperation and were looking at "different kinds of new agreements that can be done."

"It's a big border and bad guys try to come across," Boucher said. "The question is what we, in cooperation with the Canadian government, can do to make both our countries safer."

Israeli governing coalition collapses
Wednesday, October 30, 2002 Posted: 3:53 PM EST (2053 GMT)

JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's national unity coalition collapsed Wednesday when the opposition Labor Party bolted and voted against a new Israeli budget.

Israeli Defense Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer, leader of the Labor Party, said his faction had no choice after Sharon refused to compromise over Labor's demand that money earmarked for Jewish settlements be diverted to social programs.

Sharon of the Likud party condemned Labor's arguments and defections as "nonsense" based on politics.

"On this you are breaking up the unity government?" he asked in a speech in the Knesset, the Israeli parliament.

Sharon said he had agreed to form a committee that would report back by November 10 on Labor's concerns.

"We did everything we could. We will continue to lead the country with responsibility and judiciousness" without Labor, Sharon said.

Ben-Eliezer turned in his resignation when talks collapsed, and was followed by the remainder of Labor's ministers. The resignations will take effect within 48 hours.

Labor had proposed that about $147 million earmarked for the Jewish settlements be diverted to fund social services benefiting pensioners, one-parent families, students and low-income locales.

Even without Labor, Sharon's austerity budget passed on its first reading 65 to 45 with two abstentions.

Ben-Eliezer said he thought Sharon would have agreed to Labor's demands. "But that is not what happened," he said.

"I wanted the public to know we were making an effort," Ben-Eliezer said. "We came out after an entire day with promises, but nothing in our hands. Nothing. And, therefore, I was forced to recommend my faction vote against the budget."

Sharon said he refused to divert funds from the settlements "that would harm an entire sector of the population."

With Labor's 24 members out of his government, Sharon now lacks a majority of votes in the 120- member Knesset. He faces a no-confidence vote in the Knesset on Monday.

To stay in power without Labor, Sharon has two choices -- form a new coalition with right-wing, religious parties or call for new elections.

Sharon could still try to negotiate a new deal with Labor before the resignations take effect, but that possibility was considered extremely unlikely by political observers.

Before the vote, Sharon said legislators must vote for the budget to show Israel's allies -- including the United States -- that it is serious about putting its economy back on track.

"I will not tolerate games or political party tricks," Sharon said, according to the Cabinet secretariat. "Whoever does not vote in favor of the budget cannot be part of the government," he vowed.

Silvan Shalom, the Israeli finance minister and a member of Likud, blamed Ben-Eliezer for the crisis, saying the Labor Party leader was playing "local politics" in the face of party primary elections in two weeks.

Labor ministers blamed Sharon, who refused a compromise deal before the collapse. The proposed deal was believed to contain language promising that social programs would have parity with funding given to Jewish settlements.

Saeb Erakat, a member of the Palestinian Authority Cabinet, said the Palestinian Authority considers the split in the government an internal matter. But he added, "It's ironic that if the Likud-Labor coalition would have continued, it would have been at the expense of the peace process and the Palestinian people through settlement activity and confiscation of land.

"And on the other hand, if there will be a Likud-right-wing coalition it would also be at the expense of the peace process and the Palestinian people through settlement activity and confiscation of land. It's unfortunate that the Israeli political arena is moving further and further away from the peace process."

Sharon has been an ardent supporter of settlements.

Israel's settler community, which numbers some 200,000 in the West Bank, is seen by many Israelis as essential for Israel's security -- as a first line of defense from the east. Jewish settlements in Gaza are less populated but still flashpoints in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The settlements have become -- over the years -- a main issue in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

Palestinians see the settlements as an instrument of Israeli occupation aimed at dividing any future Palestinian state into noncontiguous portions.

At the Jewish settlement of Hermesh on the West Bank, a Palestinian man shot and killed three Israelis and wounded three others Tuesday before Israeli forces shot him dead, the Israel Defense Forces said.
