And pf. Like just now, when he can sense that he's been ignoring me he says "I love you." Ugh.

Scotso
10-24-2002, 01:56 AM
I know he does, but I care about him. I don't know. I'm not really upset. Sometimes I think I ask for too much from everyone. No one really pays any attention to me anyway

Angele

No, you don't ask for too much... I think what it is, I know this because I'm the same way lol, is that you expect from him what you give him... you give him you're undivided attention and make sure to be online to talk to him, so you expect the same from him which is totally fair! Maybe he really does care, which I think he does, but that you guys just aren't meant for each other :(

Scotso
10-24-2002, 02:03 AM
I take a lot of things as signs. All the signs tell me that we aren't meant to be  But I don't want to accept that.

Sorry. I bitch about my problems far too much  But you guys are the only ones that will listen to me

LUXEMBOURG (Sportsticker) -- Kim Clijsters and Magdalena Maleeva, the top two seeds of the $225,000 Seat Open, cruised to the quarterfinals with straight-sets triumphs on Wednesday.

Clijsters, the top seed from Belgium and two-team defending Seat Open champion, easily defeated Italian qualifier Magui Serna, 6-3, 6-1. Maleeva, the second seed from Bulgaria, beat crowd favorite Claudine Schaul of Luxembourg, a wild card, 6-3, 7-5.

Not as fortunate was fifth seed Lisa Raymond of the United States, who was upset by Tina Pisnik of Slovenia, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2, in their second-round encounter.

The four remaining first-round matches were completed Wednesday, with one seeded player failing to reach to second round. Nathalie Dechy of France, the No. 4 seed, suffered a left thigh strain and retired from her match with Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia after splitting the first two sets.

Seventh-seeded Elena Bovina of Russia posted a 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 win over Emmanuelle Gagliardi of Switzerland, No. 8 seed Janette Husarova of Slovakia handily defeated French qualifier Emilia Loit, 6-3, 6-1 and Vera Zvonareva of Russia beat Italy's Rita Grande, 6-2, 6-3.

First prize is $35,000.

My comments on the Scott/Eric thing:

No offense Scotty, but he probably is cheating on you. I mean, come on. You are just an Internet person after all, you're not "real." He might be the most important thing in the world to you, but if he doesn't reciprocate that, well, what're you gonna do? There's nothing TO do. You can't change a person or make them feel or act a certain way. As much as I love all of y'all, the people that I actually see face to face every day come first. Maybe Eric thinks the same way.

Angele, why should Eric be expected to give Scott his undivided attention? Unless Scott has a specifically stated, "Eric, when we're talking, I want your undivided attention," (which I wouldn't be surprised if he has) there's really no room to gripe. People aren't mindreaders.

Scott, you're being clingy and dependent. Angele, you're being an enabler. Both of you, stop it. :p

I'm sort of speculating here so stop me if you think this is rubbish
http://www.gamers-forums.com/smilies/contrib/edoom/sad2.gif

remember when he said that he didn't care if he never won a tournament after wimbledon and everyone thought it was just rhetoric?
and he said he didn't care about being number one (Sampras was pretty surprised at said , said it was all he thought about when he was number one) and everyone thought it was part of the spat with the ATP
and he said he was cutting his tournaments next year and said he would like to play like Rafter did about 13/14 and everyone thought that maybe it was a get at the ATP again.

But maybe it is all true. That he doesn't get as pumped up for small tournaments and doesn't train as hard or practice enough and is tired of touring/leaving home etc.

I agree with everyone who said that a) his serve is bad
b) what the hell is Jason doing aka bring back Darren/lose parents
c) he lost the US open semi, tanked it in fact and I wonder how much that psychologically speaking, bothers him because the Slam was there for the taking.
d) he had better not go to Lux

Also think he was in Stockholm , not for the Champions Race (I have decided to take him at his word on that) but because it is on carpet as is Paris and he is really bad on carpet and absolutely not match fit and so needed the practice. Which makes this loss worse.

I think (and please disagree because I don't want to believe it) that Paris will be another disaster.
He may do better at Shanghai because it's big and he's defending.

Goonergal
10-24-2002, 01:12 PM
I think your post is very valid Duck. After he came out with the "I don't care if I don't win another Slam/tournie" I think that wasn't the best thing to say, maybe he was caught up in the moment, but I think from there he's kinda lost his way/motivation/focus. Like y'all say it seems like he struggles to get himself up for matches these days (besides Davis Cup that is) I think even @ this year's USO he was pretty subdeued and not his agressive self. Vs Blake it took an 1hr and 30 mins for the 1st audible C'mon  I think the season as Jilli said yesterday takes it's toll and he seems kinda drained and I think really that he's probably fed up of travelling around that happens sometimes. After the USO he went home to Adelaide for the 1st time since Februaury. I think he really needs to look at where he's at mentally. As for the TMS Paris. I don't know. Who knows which Lleyton is going to turn up. He says that the fact that DH is catching up doesn't bother him in his interview. Well that can't be true as he wouldn't have rushed to take a WC In Stockholm, but I do agree with you duck that he needed the practise on carpet. Well lets hope he realises he has nothing to lose in Paris as he crashed out early to Lapennti last year, so who knows what to expect. Who'd have thought we'd be saying that.

Jackie
10-24-2002, 01:17 PM
Maybe Lleyton doesn't care that Agassi is catching up. Maybe he wanted to play Stockholm because the organisers got so pissed off with him when he pulled out last year

A few variations of his interview yesterday

Thursday October 24, 03:16 PM

Hewitt concedes ground to Agassi
Illness and indifferent form threaten to derail Lleyton Hewitt's battle with Andre Agassi for the ATP Champions Race title.

Hewitt crashed out of the Stockholm Open in a shock second round loss after seeking a wildcard entry to the event to boost his late season campaign.

Beaten 6-3 6-3 by 102-ranked Dutchman Raemon Sluiter, Hewitt admitted he was still getting over the viral illness which forced his withdrawal from the Madrid Masters last week.

"I didn't feel 100 percent, but I've been getting better gradually," said Hewitt, who'd gained a walkover passage through the first round.

"I felt right to play though."

Hewitt recently nominated retaining the year-end No.1 spot as a priority but the 21-year-old needs to find form and fitness fast with Agassi closing rapidly.

Agassi continued his good form with a comfortable 6-3 6-4 win over Czech Radek Stepanek in the first round of the St Petersburg Open.

The 32-year-old American will close to within eight points of Hewitt if he wins in Russia.

Their penultimate showdown will come next week at the concluding regular season event, the Paris Masters, but it's in Shanghai next month, where Hewitt defends the Masters Cup title, where the season crown will also be decided.

Since his US Open semi-final loss to Agassi in early September, Hewitt has played only one other tournament, losing in the quarter-finals at the Tokyo Open to Paradorn Srichapan.

Hewitt made light of the tussle with Agassi who has made no secret of his desire desire to end the year as No.1.

"It doesn't worry me," said Hewitt, though his late wildcard entry in Sweden suggests otherwise.

Hewitt was unable to control Sluiter's hammering serve and double-fisted forehands which did their damage on the indoor surface.

The Wimbledon champion had a rocky run from the start against Sluiter, who raced to 4-1 in the first set and won it with an ace.

The Dutchman began the second with a break, then stayed calm as Hewitt broke back for 2-all.

Sluiter profited from a Hewitt double-fault to take a 4-3 margin and broke once again on another serving miscue before eventually wrapping up the match.

"He came at me from the start. He was aggressive. He's had some of his best results indoors, this is his best surface," Hewitt said of the Dutchman.

Hewitt knocked out in second round in Stockholm
By Oliver Grassman

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - World number one Lleyton Hewitt suffered a shock 6-3 6-3 defeat by little-known Dutchman Raemon Sluiter in the second round of the Stockholm Open.

Sluiter, a powerful server who plays double-handed on both sides, dominated almost every rally and forced Hewitt to play defensively behind the baseline throughout the match.

"I didn't serve well, and he returned so well, obviously I was on the backfoot from the start," Hewitt told reporters.

"He was aggressive and you've got to take your hat off."

Sluiter broke Hewitt's first service game to take a 3-0 lead and then held on to serve to take the set 6-3.

He broke the Australian immediately in the second set to take a 2-0 lead but Hewitt broke back straight away and pumped himself up with a roar to take a 3-2 lead.

Sluiter kept his cool and held serve to 3-3, broke Hewitt to 4-3 then served home a 5-3 lead. In the final game Hewitt came from 40-0 down in his serve to deuce but made a double-fault on Sluiter's fourth match point to lose the second set 6-3.

"I didn't feel one hundred percent out there tonight, I got better gradually, but he just played too well on the night," Hewitt said.

Hewitt added that he did not feel threatened by world number two Andre Agassi, playing this week in St Petersburg, who is closing in on him at the Champions Race.

"I came from behind last year and won (the Champions Race)," Hewitt said.

Hewitt had gone into the second round on a walkover after his first round opponent Thomas Enqvist pulled out before the game with a shoulder injury.

SEED UPSETS

It was a day of seed upsets as Dutch second-seed Sjeng Schalken bowed out against American Taylor Dent 7-6 6-4 while Frenchman Fabrice Santoro slammed Argentine fifth-seed Juan Ignacio Chela 6-1 6-3.

Swedish homecrowd hopes were shattered as fourth-seeded Australian Open champion Thomas Johansson and wildcards Magnus Norman and Robin Soderling all lost.

Johansson lost 3-6 6-3 6-2 to Spanish claycourt specialist Tommy Robredo after a promising first set.

"Robredo played surprisingly well," Johansson said. "My first set was good, the second was his. In the third I had some good chances but I got tired, I'm not fully trained for tough three-setters yet," he added.

Johansson has been out of action recently recovering from a knee injury.

Norman was outclassed by an inspired Hicham Arazi of Morocco 6-2 6-2 and Thailand's seventh-seed Paradorn Srichaphan easily disposed of Soderling 6-2 6-1.

Sluiter stuns Hewitt

Hewitt had a walkover in the first round

Wednesday's results from Stockholm
World number one Lleyton Hewitt slipped to a surprise straight sets defeat in the second round of the Stockholm Open.

The Wimbledon champion and top seed was beaten 6-3 6-3 by Dutchman Raemon Sluiter to join several other departed seeds.

Earlier in the day, number two seed Sjeng Schalken, Thomas Johansson, seeded four, and fifth seed Juan Ignacio Chela all crashed out.

He's one of the best indoor players

Hewitt on Sluiter
Hewitt seldom looked comfortable on the relatively slow hard-court surface, double faulting twice at crucial moments in the second set to lose his serve.

"I didn't serve well," Hewitt admitted. "The conditions were difficult and the balls were heavy.

"But he just played too well. He came right at me from the start. He was aggressive.

"You have to give him credit. He's one of the best indoor players."

The loss could jeopardize Hewitt's chances of finishing the year as the world's top-ranked player.

He led second-placed Andre Agassi by just 43 points before the Stockholm tournament, with the American competing in St Petersburg.

Agassi safely through
Both men are entered for next week's final tournament, the Paris Masters.

Earlier on Wednesday the defending champion Sjeng Schalken crashed out in the first round.

The Dutch world number 18 was comfortably defeated 7-6 6-4 by 21-year-old American Taylor Dent in a round of surprises.

Schalken, the number two seed, was joined on the sidelines by fifth seed Juan Ignacio Chela, who was defeated 6-1 6-3 by France's Fabrice Santoro.

Santoro, in form after reaching the semi-finals of the Madrid Masters last week, was rarely troubled throughout the contest.

Paradorn Srichapan stopped the rot, the seventh seed defeating Swiss teenager Robin Soderling for the loss of just three games.

Well, first of all, I just want to point out that Lleyton got a little misquoted on the Grand Slam thing.
He didn't quite say that he doesn't care if he never wins anothr slam. The question he was asked was VERY leading, it was something like, "Now that you've won Wimbledon, would you be satisfied to never win another slam?"
And Lleyton said something about how while he'd love to win more, winning Wimbledon was enough to make him content with his career.
So it was sort of putting words in his mouth, and I have no doubt that he would LOVE to win Oz and RG and defend Wimby and win another USO. I think when those tournies roll around, we'll see a huge amount of effort on his part.
I also stick by my statement that he is tired and just mentally in need of a break. I think he'll be ready to come back full force next season, but this season he's sort of just auto-piloting.

It was a bit :p The Quality writer *snigger* is a trashy belgian writer called Brusselmans that Ingrid has told a few of us about, he usually writes in his columns sexual stuff of what he wants to do with Kim :o :o according to Ingrid The newspaper was put on the Clijsters "Black List" But he actually wrote something good and the quote in mine and BBB's sigs is from him insulting Ezel in her crappy pudding commercial! :p
I should add a few things, I think:

first of all, that *** isn't a tennis writer, he is basically a writer who happens to have a sports column in the biggest selling Flemish newspaper since some time...

Furthermore, he has quite a number of bestsellers in Dutch. He is really notorious/famous (select your own preference, depending on the fact you like trash or not) for upsetting people, and his trade mark is sort of writing books full of sex, or/and sexual insinuations. He got already several complaints and even law suits due to that (esp. famous people "figuring" in his books who couldn't really appreciate the "honour").

His sports columns are a bit similar; you'll find sexual insinuations or explicite sexual stuff in it on quite a regular basis (that's what I hear). He really likes Kim, but it's NOT like he writes about her in each and every column. (sigh of relief) Just to point this out, for good understandings!
But if he does, he doesn't mind to add some sexual stuff re Kim too... (and even dared to write re him with Kim, at least once, the loser  as if he ever could get her in his bed, pfff) It never takes more than a few lines, though (think we have to be happy for that, geee). He can really cross the line of decency, imo. And for the record ;), I am no puritan, super catholic, or whatever.

Let me tell it like this; If I'd be Lleyton, I'd drag him with his long hair all over the place, for starters!
It's sometimes def. NO stuff for a sports column, unless you like to classify that topic under sports, too (he might be right here, somehow :D).

I hardly buy the newspaper, but the few times I read it, I stumbled on stuff that would upset me if I was Kim, or Lleyton. Maybe coincidence, dunno, but I assume re Kim it must have happened more than the few times I read the paper.

His columns have never been the cause for the Clijsters' ban against the newspaper, though. I think he even didn't write the column back then, dunno. That was of a totally different nature.

I am now really wondering why they haven't got a new ban... maybe Clijsters family haven't read his trash yet, no clue, or don't prefer to react, as it would only draw more attention to the guy, and that's what he is after, after all; attention, shocking people,...

So far my rant! I soooo love him (where is that throwing up smilie when I need it?)

Before I forget it again, I think it was Angele who needed to know where a certain pic was taken, it's about the one with Jaslyn, Carl, Lleyton and the rest of the support team in the players box.

I think it was posted here a few days ago and nobody replied with the right answer.

It's a pic that was taken at the knokke tournament, Belgium, in 2001. The tournament has been cancelled as of this year, btw.

I don't think his hunger is over, though.

and he said he didn't care about being number one (Sampras was pretty surprised at said , said it was all he thought about when he was number one) and everyone thought it was part of the spat with the ATP
I think he might be not so hungry for this, but I don't believe he doesn't care at all.
and he said he was cutting his tournaments next year and said he would like to play like Rafter did about 13/14 and everyone thought that maybe it was a get at the ATP again.
Think there are two reasons for that: the atp issue but def. his own life as well.
But maybe it is all true. That he doesn't get as pumped up for small tournaments and doesn't train as hard or practice enough and is tired of touring/leaving home etc.
don't know if he doesn't practice hard enough, but it looks at least like he is a bit tired.

I agree with everyone who said that a) his serve is bad
b) what the hell is Jason doing aka bring back Darren/lose parents
c) he lost the US open semi, tanked it in fact and I wonder how much that psychologically speaking, bothers him because the Slam was there for the taking.
d) he had better not go to Lux

agree with A and C, but I won't go as far as questioning Jason, and he seems to really need support from his parents.
don't agree with D at all. Kim relaxes him, he tries to be with her as much as he can combine it with his tennis. If he goes straight to Paris, fine too.

I also stick by my statement that he is tired and just mentally in need of a break. I think he'll be ready to come back full force next season, but this season he's sort of just auto-piloting.

Do agree on the GS. it's the smaller tournaments that are the problem for him and he did say as much around US Open time and that he was having a few motivational problems in regard to tournaments like that. as reagards the tiredness, he has had a lot of time off adn has played fewer tournaments this year than last or the ear before. If you're right he willl have a very short schedule next year. The Slams/DC/TMS/Queens/Italian OPen? 16 tournaments?
I do attribute the loss largely to lack of match practice and the surface. The Champions Race is being hyped by the media but I don't think it bothers him. I do expect a good performance in Shanghai though. I think he will rise to the challenge.
I'm just hoping for Paris. If he gets a good draw and gets some matchplay under his belt I would be really happy.

I agree that Lleyton's serve mings, and that he needs to revert to his "C'MONNNN!"s more, but I don't think he's lacking in desire. #1 isn't a priority to him after this year, which sucks, but is understandable. And really, it wouldn't bug me if he goes to Luxembourg. Like Ingrid said, I think Kim is good for him, and vice-versa. Agassi lost? Really?
Unfortunately, Granville is beating Kremer, which means Kim won't get as many bonus points for winning her next match (which she will, of course).
But Kim/Hussy had another easy win today, 6-3 6-3 over Maleeva/ Grande.
Ezel's on now. Come on, guys, show some spirit.

Murkofan

Torrential downpours are definitely NOT the norm in Texas, particularly not where I live. It's fun, though, in a "I-hope-nothing-really-floods-and-gets-ruined" kind of way. Everyone at school is completely soaked, so we're having fun dashing around campus to classes and making fun of each other. And talk about bad hair days! Casey's and Bryce's spikes fell down, and Megan and I look like drowned rats. We had to pull our hair back, and mine has gone all huge and curly. It's a mess, but it's fun. :p

And I like Laura Granville, so I don't mind so much that Kim won't get as many bonus points by beating her. :p

I would just like to point out, for the record, that Lleyton isn't the only one having a letdown after a tough season.
Haas has been a mess, Roddick and Blake have been losing all over the place, Sampras isn't even bothering to play, Henman has looked pathetic, Rusedski needs surgery or something, Safin has been himself, JCF had a couple of baaad losses, Moya can't win a match...
I suppose you could make an argument that all these players have individual problems, but overall, I think the ATP really needs to start examining the level of play they get when the season is this long.

Uh-oh. Coetzer just got knocked out. This could be very bad for Kim in terms of bonus points...no Coetzer, no Kremer...
If Kim wins, beating Husarova in the semis and Maggie in the finals, she'll get just under 200 points, which means she'll lose around 35. And that's if Maggie and Hussy can make it to those rounds, which, at this point, is starting to look doubtful.

No one should ever argue with me again about what whether American football or English football is more dangerous. :p

I dunno, my family is really big into sports. I guess I'm just used to injuries and stuff. I've seen my sister get taken down on a basketball court and crack her head on the hardwood floor, getting a concussion. She tore the ACL in one of her knees a couple of times, and I personally fucked up the ligaments in my left ankle during track. (It hurts during cold, rainy weather. Makes me feel like an OAP. :p ) And then of course people are always getting hurt in professional sports too.

Stuff like that is definitely more the norm in America, though, I guess.

Johansson loses epic three set battle

Joachim "Pim-Pim" Johansson was one point away from defeating Fabrice Santoro. However, the "magician of tennis" never gave up and won 6-7(6), 6-4, 7-6(5). It was a very entertaining match between two contradicting styles of play. In the first set, both players held serve easily. "Pim-Pim" rose to the occasion and used his great serve and booming forehand to win the first set tiebreak by 8-6.

My new teacher that I get in place of the one that's sick is so first grade. He wants us to do some artsy poster (by hand) that counts HALF of our grade. That's so fucking insane! I can't even draw stick figures. EEERRRRGGGGGHHHH! :fiery:

Kimmy quotes from CCL . Thanks to Tinne!

[about her life after tennis] Maybe I should open a ‘frietkot’ (Frech fries shop) in Australia. Whenever Lleyton arrives in Belgium, he can’t wait to get to Bree to go to the ‘frietkot.’ It will be the next big thing!”
She's always thinking of Lley
:hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:

I will keep playing for at least five or six years…. I never travel by myself. When Lleyton or a family member come to visit, I always go pick them up at the airport. Same thing when they leave: I always want to go to the airport.

[about the wedding plans] Only when our careers are over. I wouldn’t like to be married and then have to leave each other to go play tournaments. Does it really matter if you get married in one or five years? As long as you have found the right person. I prefer things like they are now, the boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. After that, there’s the engagement phase, then married life, then grandparents. I believe you have to enjoy every phase in life. :hearts: :hearts:

Just like other top players, Lleyton checks in a hotel under a fake name. After a while, everybody knew that Pat Rafter went by Mister Bennie. Lleyton often uses the name of one of his Australian rules football idols; and he changes names regularly. That doesn’t make things easy for me. I have called his hotel only to hear no Hewitt was staying there. I just had to guess a couple of times until I got the “right” fake name.

More than once people [fans] have called him in the middle of the night. That has not happened to me yet. I have not had to deal with stalkers. Sometimes I get pushy fans who write a letter every week to ask for free tickets to the grand slams, but luckily, that’s about it.

Lleyton and I have discussed marriage. I would like to get married and have children. But I want to make time for that too. All in time. The location will be a problem. I would like to get married in Australia, on the beach. The Belgian shore in November or December… I don’t see that happening. On the other hand, I have grandparents who don’t travel well…

[about when she will get married] Definitely before I am 30. I don’t see myself playing tennis professionally for more than 5 years. The tennis is ok, but the traveling I get tired of. I have had a terrible fear of flying ever since a very turbulent flight out of Las vergas. Fear of flying and fear of heights.

The whole thing just makes me :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
