He had better play MUCH, MUCH better than this in Paris if he wants to have a prayer of finishing at number 1. As in NOT losing first match he plays. And NOT losing for many matches after that.
Hopefully this will serve as a wake-up call to him.

Well, Cincinatti didn't do it because he made it to the final. The US Open was a semi and it was Agassi. In Tokyo he had a "virus." This ought to do it for him. No mysterious illnesses, no previous good matches, just him and a whole lot of badness.

Quite honestly, though, I think Lleyton's probably pretty tired.
It's been a long year, and he ATP season is QUITE long, and it's been a good year overall, but I think he's really ready for a rest. Even at the US Open he was playing better...he went home for the first time in a looong time and then he had to leave again and I think maybe it disheartened him a bit.
Or maybe he just needs Hayden back.

And the fact that the US Open semi was against DH makes it even worse. I mean, Lleyton totally has (or had) DH's number! He was able to FIGHT and win San Jose from a set down, and he did a fair job of wiping the court with DH in Cincinatti. For DH to win that semifinal is just ludicrous. Lleyton literally gave it away. DH didn't win that match, Lleyton lost it.

MOSCOW (AP) - Armed men entered a crowded Moscow theater Wednesday and took the audience captive, the Federal Security Service said. Gunshots rang out during the rare hostage-taking in the Russian capital, and police and security forces went on high alert.

ITAR-Tass reported the attackers inside the theater were laying mines. That report was based on a spectator who called police, but it could not be confirmed.

In an interview with The Echo of Moscow radio station, a boy who was freed said the armed men were from the Caucasus region, spoke in one of the languages of southern Russia and demanded an end to Russia's war against Chechnya (news - web sites). The boy did not give his name.

The theater, a former Soviet-era House of Culture that belonged to a ball-bearing plant, was staging a performance of the musical "Nord-Ost," one of Moscow's most popular productions.

The Interfax news agency said one of its reporters was inside the theater at the time of the raid. She told Interfax by telephone that the armed men fired into the air and would not let the audience leave.

Interfax said its reporter believed there were about 20 men in the group, and quoted unidentified law enforcement sources as saying the same. Interfax said some children had been allowed to leave the theater as well as Muslims. The reports could not be verified.

Russia media reported about 700 people were inside the theater. The report could not be immediately confirmed. An Associated Press reporter saw two ambulances, but it was unclear what connection they had with events in the theater.

Police units and an Alpha special forces unit went to the scene and sealed off the area in the freezing, wet weather. The Federal Security Service, the successor to the Soviet KGB, and the Interior Ministry put plan "Thunderstorm" into effect, which required all officers to report to their units.

Russian President Vladimir Putin (news - web sites) was immediately told of the hostage taking, Interfax reported. Mosow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov went to the theater.

Located in southeastern Moscow in a working class neighborhood, the musical is based on Veniamin Kaverin's novel "Two Captains." The romantic novel recounts the story of two students and their different destinies during the Soviet times. The theater's producer, Alexander Tsekalo, said on Russian television that the theater could hold 1,163 people.

According to the theater's Web site, more than 350,000 people have seen the production since it opened.

ok does anyone know the answer to this?
It is often recommended that we keep a box of baking soda on hand in the kitchen for extinguishing small grease fires. Relate this application to the properties of the products formed in the reaction you identified.

Static
10-23-2002, 09:13 PM
My reaction is:
2NaHCO3 -------> Na2CO3 + H2O + CO2

Static

Murkofan
10-23-2002, 09:16 PM

Murkofan
10-23-2002, 09:23 PM
What you just posted doesn't even make sense. :p

I'm trying to help you here. Now what is it exactly that you don't understand?

Murkofan
10-23-2002, 09:25 PM
Okay, when baking is soda is heated (i.e., thrown onto a fire) it gives off carbon dioxide, which is why it helps to smother the flames.

Does that help at all?

Static
10-23-2002, 09:26 PM
LoL It makes sense because I know everything about stalking info... and I don't know where Hayden went and yeah :o

Ok I don't understand what does it mean: Relate the application to the properties of the products formed in the reaction you identified? What do they want from me?

Murkofan
10-23-2002, 09:28 PM
FIRE EXTINGUISHING: Baking soda is effective as a fire extinguisher for grease and electrical fires. When baking soda is heated it releases carbon dioxide (just as when dough rises) and produces water. Since carbon dioxide is heavier than air and does not support combustion like oxygen does, it smothers the fire while the water that is formed cools the fire to below the ignition temperature. Unlike any other household chemical, baking soda both cools and smothers a fire.

Goonergal

Well, my guess is that they bascially want you to say that it's the CO2 that baking soda produces when heated that smothers the fire.

So basically, write what's in my previous post, but put write carbon dioxide as CO2, oxygen as O2, etc. Just put things into their chemical equations.

 @ Lleyton.

so both Carbong dioxides that are given off in both reactions would help the fire to die die?

I think it's more the fact that baking soda produced carbon dioxide, which in doesn't produce combustion like oxygen does. I don't think the fire produces carbon dioxide at all.

Oh, my bad.

Yes, the fact that this reaction (wtf is this, anyways? :p ) produces CO2 too would explain why it helps in smothering a fire. Also, oxygen is produced. That will form water and aid in putting out the fire.

Sodium hydrogen carbonate is a weak base that reacts with acids to produce carbon dioxide gas, water , and a salt. It is used in cooking recipes where and acidic ingredient is present, and in common household products such as toothpaste, antacid tablets, and cleaners. Evaluate the importance of accuarte chemical quantities and calculations in each of these applications.

Ok here I'm not sure... would you wirte that it's important that the quantities and chemicals have to be in proper ratios because a large amount of an acid would have a bad effect on humans because they can BURN YOU! ...and stuff like dat?

Well, no, you wouldn't write that, because Sodium hydrogen carbonate is a base, not an acid. :p

But in theory, yes, that's what you'd write. A high quantity of the chemical in a product that will be consumed by and/or come in contact with humans would be extremely harmful to the health.

And then there would be lotsa multi-million dollar lawsuits being filed. But that's not relevant to Chemistry, so don't put it. :p

Well, in your post you called sodium hydrogen carbonate a weak base, which is what I was basing my smartass remark on. :p

The concentration of hydrogen ions is what determines whether or not a substance is an acid or a base. A high amount of hydrogen ions is an acid, while a low amount of hydrogen ions is a base.

Prosecutors seek 3 1/2 years in jail for Becker in tax evasion case

By ROLAND LOSCH
Associated Press Writer
October 23, 2002

MUNICH, Germany (AP) -- Prosecutors in Boris Becker's tax evasion trial Wednesday sought a 3 1/2 -year jail sentence for the retired tennis star, while lawyers for the three-time Wimbledon champion sought probation.

Becker is accused of evading more than $1.7 million in taxes from 1991-93, when he listed his residency as Monte Carlo, but stayed at his sister's Munich loft.

Becker's lawyer, Joerg Weigell, asked for probation for the 34-year-old star, which would be a maximum of two years, though Becker could also face a maximum of five years in prison.

Becker admitted he kept an apartment in Germany 10 years ago while claiming to reside in the tax haven of Monte Carlo.

The star also said the investigation into his finances speeded the end of his tennis career.

``I couldn't live like that anymore, much less play tennis,'' Becker said.

Weigell said Becker has paid $3 million in back taxes for 1991 through 1995 -- which he noted was double the amount sought by investigators.

Prosecutor Matthias Musiol insisted the tennis star waited until the last minute to pay and didn't admit his guilt until taken to court.

Becker said he was aware of German laws that anyone who lives more than half the year in Germany has to pay taxes in the country, but insisted he only stayed in his sister's loft occasionally.

``I knew the rules and I took them into account,'' Becker said. ``I accept that I am responsible for a mistake that I made 10 years ago and I know that I have to pay for that,''

The court estimates his combined income for 1991 and 1992 at $19 million.

Since Becker retired from tennis in 1999, he has gotten divorced, fathered a child with a Russian model, and had a string of businesses fail.

lmao! Even the German public want him to go down. They did a vote and the majority want to see him in jail :p

Pfff my long program sucks :fiery: :fiery: Can you offer any advice Scott?

Angele
10-24-2002, 01:17 AM
I'm very weird :p I just randomly like teams for no reason and once i like them, i'm hooked! Most of the time it's cuz there's a hot guy on the team even though ALL the other teams have hot guys too :p I do like Barry Bonds though :D Not love him but I think he's cool :D

Scotso
10-24-2002, 01:18 AM
Well, just make sure you don't repeat elements a lot, they take off for that. I dunno other than that.

I had pictures of my cats on my other computer

Angele
10-24-2002, 01:21 AM
well scan the pictures on this computer :p

I'm very careful not to repeat elements too much... of course I have to repeat some since I don't have that many elements yet *cough* but my long program still sucks

Scotso
10-24-2002, 01:23 AM
You have no compassion :p

Angele
10-24-2002, 01:32 AM
Ok I'm giving up on my long program... I'm hopeless me thinks  Maybe once I add more elements I'll be better  :D

Scotso
10-24-2002, 01:34 AM

Angele
10-24-2002, 01:35 AM

Scotso
10-24-2002, 01:49 AM
I dunno, I'll tell you later :p

Scotso
10-24-2002, 01:51 AM
*sigh*

Eric is always out with friends or away for the weekend, on a minitrip or something. I feel like he always has something more important to do. Even if he is online, like right now, I know that his attention is on something else. For the last hour I was trying to get him to talk but I gave up now, and as soon as I stop asking questions and trying to pull things out of him, he doesn't say anything to me at all. We were supposed to talk tonight, but whatever. Pf.

Angele
10-24-2002, 01:52 AM
Pffff  I found a way to check out all the groups and I wanna see where you're at... what's your name anyway lol

And for Cilla and Marly, which group are y'all in?

Scotso
10-24-2002, 01:53 AM
But actually no, I don't care. Sometimes I'm almost certain he's cheating on me, or would if the opportunity presented itself. I feel like a convenience rather than a care.

I wonder what I should do. Maybe I should sell everything and move, start a new life :D

Angele
10-24-2002, 01:54 AM
Scott, I promise I'm not trying to be a bitch but I really think you deserve a lot better than Eric! He's upsetting you way too often
