Yeah Scott she's fine now, but guess who had to clean up the mess  :o :p

Coz she's handicapped she can't do simple thing like coughing up phlegm *ming* like we can so all the fluid just stays on her lungs so when she starts coughing coz she can't bring it out it's almost like she's choking so her throwing up is a good thing.

Angele
10-21-2002, 08:44 PM
I totally agree  He always plays with these nobodies :o At least before they used to be Australian nobodies so I have guess he was just trying to help them out... But Joachim  :o

Peridotpixie
10-21-2002, 08:45 PM
He can't be THAT unpopular on the tour, right? Sigh.
At least Kim picks good people. I do hope she sticks with Meghann or Dani, though Dani is probably less likely.

Angele
10-21-2002, 08:48 PM
Well I don't think Lleyton is very popular :o But I'm sure he could find somebody better than the guys he's been playing with lol

Well I think Kim and RT were a good pairing and it's too bad they didn't stay together :( I like Dani but not sure if they'd make a good team... and Meghann, I dunno... I don't really like her lol... If Kim wants to play doubles regularly next year she should hook up with Ai again :D

Peridotpixie
10-21-2002, 08:58 PM
I think there was a lot of trouble with Ai, because Kim takes singles more seriously and Ai doesn't, necessarily, so...

duck
10-21-2002, 08:59 PM
Well, the optimist's view is that as a wildcard entry himself he didn't have much time to sort out a good doubles partner. If he had he might have played with Woodbridge or Arthurs to practice for DC practice. I reckon anyway he was only doing it for match practice.
And if he isn't popular I guess it's because he whups their asses (usually).
Serena isn't exactly loved up on the WTA Tour either.

Don't compare Lleyton to Serena ;) :p

You're right about the last minute thing though... and if you're into conspiracy theories, maybe the organizers only agreed to give him a wildcard on the condition that he partner Joachim, or another young swedish player, in doubles :o Cuz remember, last year they said they would never let him play again lol

Ah. Well that explains a lot. Doing someone a favour in order to get that conveniently available wildcard.

Seriously though at the begining of 2002 he could barely qualify for a future, now he is getting to the semis of challengers... that's a big step up :D
Besides his doubles ranking might be a lot higher than his singles (even though I have yet to find it), and I'm assuming by his height (which is pretty tall ) he has a massive serve so maybe lleyton needed a serving partner :o

Angele
10-21-2002, 09:24 PM

Philosophy, is the talk on a cereal box
Religion, is a smile on a dog
I'm not aware of too many things
i know what I know if you know what I mean

Choke me in the shallow water
Before I get too deep

What I am is what I am are you what you are or what

Religion, is a light in the fog
I'm not aware of too many things
I know what I know if you know what I mean

Choke me in the shallow water

Betting on baby
By Elizabeth Hudson
BBC Sport Online

She might only be a couple of days old, and more interested in causing a racket rather than picking one up, but Rose Elizabeth Henman is being tipped as the future of British tennis.

The new-born daughter of British number one Tim Henman and his wife Lucy is already a 250-1 chance to win a Wimbledon singles title.

Once the news came out of Lucy Henman's pregnancy, odds were immediately offered on the new arrival's ability to lift a Grand Slam title in SW19. The odds are certainly in Rose's favour as her great grandfather Henry Billington also appeared at Wimbledon in the past, as well as her father.

A number of years ago, there was a flurry of bets when a teenage Tim Henman first came to prominance and shrewd punters could have got 500-1 on Henman winning Wimbledon.

But if the new arrival decides instead to put on a pair of football boots, you can get odds of 500-1 on her playing for England.

In 20 or so years time, young Miss Henman could be joined at the winners' ball by Jaden Gil Agassi, the offspring of multiple Grand Slam winners Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi. Having started at 500-1, the odds have tumbled on the youngster to 50-1 - and he is still to celebrate his first birthday.

But the trend of parents betting on their children's success is growing in popularity.

"We've had literally hundreds of bets from proud parents who are keen to bet on their new-born offspring's possible sporting achievement," said Graham Sharpe of bookmaker William Hill. "That can be anything from winning Wimbledon, playing football for club or country, winning the Open or even scoring the winning goal in a World Cup final.

"It is something that has grown in popularity over the past decade, particularly for a Christening or Christmas present and sooner or later, we will have a big winner."

Brooklyn Beckham, son of David and Victoria was originally 1000-1 to play for England but he is now 66-1 - despite only being three-years-old.

His younger brother Romeo is already rated at a 500-1 chance even though he is currently an expert at another type of dribbling.

However, if the brothers decide that football is not the career for them, they could always follow in the footsteps of mum Posh Spice. The odds on either boy having a number one single are 250-1.

It's okay. It is. I finally convinced myself that this isn't a bad bad thing. I mean, I can start over. Starting fresh is frustrating but it's a learning experience, I suppose. I did lose my stuff but most of it is either replacable or not important. I'm still alive. So, that's what's important. It's just an annoyance, but I'll get over it.

Besides, the expectations will be bigger--two tennis player parents, and Lleyton's achieved much more than Timmy boy.

But er, how many do I think they'll seriously have? :p

Probably 3 or 4. My sister and her fiance both come from 2 sibling families, and they want 3 or 4, as do I. That seems to be the consenus when it comes to kids from single or two child families. Personally, I've always wished I had more sisters. One older than my sister to beat up on her, and one younger than me that I could spoil terribly. :D

And both Kim and Lleyton strike me as kid lovers, and they obviously love each other and can certainly afford children so...yeah, 3 or 4. :p

In Holland, prostitution is completely legal. They have benefits and unions, just like any other job. Not quite the same thing in Belgium. It's tolerated in Belgium though. No prostitute is going to get arrested for being a working girl. In both countries, we have red light districts with streetwalkers and window girls. The latter are women who rent a room in a house and they sit, underwear and all, in the window, so that the men can do some window shopping before buying (so to speak). Better to legelize that stuff in my opinion. Prostitutes are going to be around anyway and that way you take them away from pimps and the criminal environment.

Achoo! Sigh. Silly Lleyki virus.
I think I'll get the Buffy musical episode soundtrack. It'll be fun.
Oh, Kim's first round opponent is Magui Serna, who is happily higher ranked than Pelletier, so Kim can get a couple more bonus points from beating her.
We'd better pray Henin loses in her first match, because there's going to be trouble if she doesn't. A win against Silvia in the quarters will put her ahead of Kim. A win against anyone else in the quarters would probably leave her short by a couple of points, but any win in the semis will put her ahead.
Sigh.

Also, apparently Nicole Pratt is fighting Hopman's decision to have Alicia play at Lleyton's request.

I like Pratty better, but whatever Lleyt wants

I don't think the Williams will play... esp. not Serena since she's already assured of #1

Australia would probably have a better chance of winning with Pratt over Molik, but since Deux is playing for America, there's a good shot she'll go undefeated and the USA will win.

I do think both the Preds will play in LA. Maybe not if the Championships were still in Munich, but since it's in the US, there's not really a reason for them not to.

I think Serena will play for pride. Also because she just seems to enjoy playing once in a while.
I'm less sure about Venus. No one has any chance of overtaking her, and she can't overtake Serena. So no matter what she does, she's stuck at number 2. Her one indoor match this year was a disaster, and if she does make it to the finals, she risks her fourth straight loss to Serena in a year. Is she willing to go for it? I think it's unlikely. When she takes Serena on again, she'll want to be in her best form, not what is arguably her worst. I think there's a very big chance she will skip LA.
And if she does, Kim has a good chance of defending her points, especially since her withdrawal would give Lindsay the last seed.

Marly's Soapbox Diatribes for this week's Maroon Messenger. :p

Being sick is not a pleasant experience, as I was reminded this past week. After a week and a half of tiredness accompanied by aches and pains, I was stricken with not only the flu, but also a 24-hour stomach virus.
I have always been prone to illness. If we were living in the frontier days, I would be the sickly child who wouldn’t live to see her 5th birthday. Fortunately for the rest of the world, that isn’t the case, and I generally pull through my various diseases none the worse for the wear.
I suppose I should have become suspicious my when sister, who is the healthy workhorse of the family, came home one day with the flu. If anyone in my family gets ill, I invariably follow suit.
Sure enough, a few days after my sister was well on the road to recovery, I began to show signs of the flu. I was absolutely determined not to get sick. I told myself that I had too much to do at school, and that illness was not an option. I popped Advil several times a day, and put on a jacket when I got chills because of having a fever. I was beginning to think I was actually going to win the battle, when the flu called in reinforcements.
The stomach virus swept up and outflanked me from behind, and turned out to be the straw that broke the camel’s back. Vomiting robbed me of the strength I had left, and the flu came crashing down on me like the Sooner defense on Chris Simms. It wasn’t fun.
One amusing side effect of throwing up was my face. The capillaries in my cheeks burst, bruising my face and giving me a bizarre magenta rash around the eyes, which contrasted oddly with the dark circles under my eyes and the unusually pale shade of my skin. Personally, I think managing to have a face that was both gaunt and swollen at the same time should earn me a place in the next edition of the Guinness Book of World Records. Unfortunately, I wasn’t coherent enough to be able to operate a camera, so I don’t have any record of this phenomenon.
In the end, it took 5 days of bed rest to finally conquer my illness. My white blood cells finally kicked in—with no help from a doctor, thank you very much—and turned back the offensive charge of the stomach virus before completely annihilating the flu. It wasn’t the most enjoyable 5 days of my life, but it did teach me to be grateful for what I have—parents who care about me, generally good health, and an extremely sturdy trash can.

And Venus didn't play in Munich last year, right? So she won't be losing any points if she doesn't play. It's always a possibility. I'm not so sure where she is mentally at the moment.

No, Venus skipped last year, so she won't lose points, and Serena won, so she can't really gain points. So if Venus doesn't play, the gap between them remains the same. She might decide to just call this year a bust, relax, and go after the number 1 ranking next season. In my opinion it's probably the smartest thing she can do right now--getting beaten by Serena AGAIN (or someone else!) will not do anything for her confidence.
