There's no Advil in my house, and I just took the last two Tylenols. I got home, and both air conditioners were off, meaning my house is about 95 degrees at the moment. And I just started my period, ugh.

I'm doing so badly in chem

We played tennis today... and we got our arses kicked... the sad thing is... erm... my partner doesn't really play tennis all that much... so she's not that good :o And I don't want to sack her... so what should I do? Quit the whole thing?

LOL, make a skater if you want... the nasty comments they make when you stuff up an element are so amusing! I'm in group 281, try joining it if you want, but unfortunately I suspect it's full :(. Cilla's is in group 286. It may be better to try a random group, cos you may luck out and end up with a relatively empty one... I'm stuggling to break top 15 in mine

About your doubles partner? Hrmm.. it is a tough one....maybe tell her she's brilliant and ought to concentrate on singles? (ok, that was a bit naughty of me :o )

ROFL, Allan, that's a good one!

KaseyL
10-10-2002, 09:25 PM
btw Allan, you are from Geelong, right?

Static
10-10-2002, 09:26 PM
The tricky part is that we don't have singles at our school :( So it's doubles only, and besides her I really don't have anyone to play with... so it's basically either die of embarrassment (also due to my part ...because I'm not all that great myself) or quit :o

Static
10-10-2002, 09:28 PM

Do you think it's long enough? :p

Murkofan

LOL... I'm kinda kidding about Annamaria-theresa.... I'd want my FWTT player to be a Vandecaetsbeek, but I'd pick a shorter first name, maybe Elke.

LOL, you two are in the same group... she's Hewtina, I think.... is this the beginning of a great rivalry? :o

Watch out sister, watch out brother,
Watch our children while they kill each other
With a gun they bought at Walmart discount stores.
Welcome to the hallway, metal-detector just been installed...
hey, Isn't cops and robbers gettin' to be a big bore.

Mary, Mary quite contrary, close the door now, it's much too scary,
And you might see something you wish you hadn't seen.
Out of sight, out of time, out of patience, and I'm out of my mind.
Governor, tell me what does it mean.

Dance children, dance to the beat,
Wanna be a hippy cause life was so sweet,
Well Good-morning hate.
Dance children, dance to the beat,
Wanna rock and roll up and down the street,
I've got a message, Oh Yeah.

"Love is a good thing
Love is a good, Love is a good, Love is a good thing.
Love is a good thing,
Love is a good, Love is a good, Love is a...
Good thing." Yeah.

Politicians on a mission, build them up, bring them down,
For the good of the 'system',
Well we don't like the way you live your life.
I got one thing I must express, we try our criminals in the press,
Justice is a fading light.

Mary, Mary quite contrary, close the door now, it's much too scary,

LOL, there are two types of reactions to getting a 97 on a test.

A. Oh cool! I got a 97! :D
B. OMG! WTF did I lose 3 f**king marks for?! :fiery:

I grew up as a type B. When I was in the fourth grade, I cried when I found out I missed out on a perfect grade in English by one mark (I still think the teacher was wrong, btw).

The Owl and the Pussy-Cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat:
They took some honey, and plenty of money
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
"O lovely Pussy, O Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
You are,
You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!"

Pussy said to the Owl, "You elegant fowl,
How charmingly sweet you sing!
Oh! let us be married; too long we have tarried:
But what shall we do for a ring?"
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the bong-tree grows;
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood,
With a ring at the end of his nose,
His nose,
His nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose.

"Dear Pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your ring?" Said the Piggy, "I will."
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand on the edge of the sand
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.

I have two midterms next week. One of them is in Civil War, which shouldn't be too hard, I'm not going to read the chapters of the book because, frankly, I've had this teacher before and he doesn't seem to use them. I'll just study my notes.

The other is in Modern Ideologies. I read the Federalist Papers, but I need to read the 60-page introduction. I also need to read Mill's "On Liberty" which is about 120 pages, but I found a 10-page summary of it, which, of course, I will read instead. I also need to read the introduction to Mill, and the responces to him, which are about 20 pages each.

I have a test in Old Testament, so I have to read another chapter of the book, about 50 pages, for one of his super-hard tests. He asks very obscure questions, so I have to go over the chapter again and again.

I have a test on some readings for English. We're supposed to read Ben Franklin's entire 150-page biography by Tuesday, which I obviously have neither the time nor the will to do. Luckily I found a summary on that at SparkNotes. I also have to read about 50 pages of other material for that quiz, and do some other stuff.

I need to start researching Ba'alism for a research paper I have to write.

I need to start reading and taking notes on the Communist Manifesto so I can write a paper on it.

Lastly, I need to study Rousseau's background and philosophy, because he's the character that I'm playing. Luckily, I need to study him for my Modern Ideologies class anyway.

Oh, I also need to start working on my Civil War project about the camp followers.

Just thinking about all of this makes my head swell near to the point of exploding.

Well, some bitches at this party were talking smack about my friends. We were leaving, and one of the other girls grabbed one of my friends and punched her.

It didn't involve me at all, but of course I had to jump in. :p I gave a lot better than I got, too. ;) I caught a boot to ribs, which didn't feel too good, but other than that, my only injury was to my fists. I busted all my knuckles open on some girl's face. :D

Braves prepare for changes after another disappointing finish

By PAUL NEWBERRY
AP Sports Writer
October 10, 2002

ATLANTA (AP) -- The Atlanta Braves haven't given up on the idea of re-signing both Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux, and they aren't planning a major cut in payroll to deal with huge financial losses.

Still, Braves president Stan Kasten conceded Thursday that player salaries must be reduced after the team lost more than $20 million for the second year in a row.

``Our revenues have been out of balance with our expenses,'' Kasten said during a news conference at Turner Field. ``It's important that we get that more in balance.''

The payroll reduction won't happen all at once, but it may be difficult to afford two pitchers with six Cy Young awards between them -- especially when there's a scarcity of starters on the free agent market.

``Yes, we can re-sign both of them,'' general manager John Schuerholz said. ``But Tommy and Greg are very accomplished pitchers. That's going to be a very complex issue.''

The Braves won their 11th straight division title, but followed with their usual disappointment in the postseason. The San Francisco Giants defeated Atlanta in a five-game division series.

Manager Bobby Cox made some questionable decisions: going with ancient Julio Franco and light-hitting Keith Lockhart instead of Matt Franco and Mark DeRosa; leaving Glavine in long enough to give up seven runs in Game 4.

Overall, though, Kasten and Schuerholz are happy with Cox's performance and plan for him to return in 2003.

``When you look at his record, he's the best man for the job,'' said Schuerholz, who also retained the entire coaching staff.

The roster is much more uncertain. Even if, as expected, catcher Javy Lopez exercises an option to return next season, the Braves still have 10 potential free agents among the 25-man roster they used in the playoffs.

Glavine (18-11, 2.96) and Maddux (16-6, 2.62) are at the head of the list, having anchored the Braves' rotation for the past decade. The bullpen could also be hard hit, with All-Star Mike Remlinger (7-3, 1.99), Chris Hammond (7-2, 0.95), Darren Holmes (2-2, 1.81, one save) and Kerry Ligtenberg (3-4, 2.97) at the end of their contracts.

The Braves began the 2002 season with more than $93 million in player salaries -- seventh-highest in the league -- despite reporting $23.9 million in total losses for the previous year. According to Kasten, the team lost a similar amount this year.

``We've got to get back to the business model that makes sense,'' he said. ``But we're not going to be slashing and burning.''

Kasten said the payroll cuts will be phased in over several seasons and he will have the final say on how much the Braves spent in 2003.

He insisted there have been no orders from corporate owner AOL Time Warner to drastically reduce costs, even though the company has taken a financial beating and recently acknowledged that it might be willing to sell the team.

``I would like to assure everyone that we're going to be spending a lot of money again next year,'' Kasten said. ``When we open the gates for the first game of the season, we're going to have a team that has a chance to contend again.''

Kasten pointed out several times that low-budget teams had done well this season, indicating he believes the Braves could keep winning with a lower payroll,

Oakland and Minnesota both won their divisions despite ranking near the bottom of the payroll list. The three highest-salaried teams in the playoffs -- New York Yankees, Arizona and Atlanta -- all were eliminated in the first round.

``We could spent $97 million or we could spend $171 million and it's not going to guarantee us a World Series championship or even a first-round victory in the playoffs,'' Kasten said.

The Braves' attendance has dropped five consecutive years after getting a big spike in 1997 from the move to Turner Field. Kasten said the threat of a strike and Atlanta's runaway win in the NL East may have contributed to this year's 7.8 percent decrease.

Also, Atlanta has won with such regularity since 1991 that merely making the playoffs isn't enough.

``It's like a sitcom that's been on the air for nine or 10 years,'' Kasten said. ``It's hard to keep it fresh, and we can't send our entire cast on trip to London.''

While acknowledging the team's accomplishments, Kasten and Schuerholz admitted the season feels like a disappointment.

``I certainly don't feel successful today,'' Kasten said. ``This is not where any of us wanted to be. We wanted to be preparing for Game 2 of the NLCS.''

Lindsay's serve is cracking up a bit. And Kimmy's returns are really on today. Still she manages to hold.

5-3 Now take the set Kimmy! I'm so nervous.
