Well, according to today's news, the numbers supporting Bush's plan to invade Iraq have dropped. 60% of the people polled said they would like the weapons inspectors to go in first, 60% said not to attack without our allies, and 70% said not without congressional approval. What really shocking--about half of the people said to wait until we are attacked before we make a move!
These numbers make me pretty happy, but probably make Bush very cranky, hence the speech. He'll try to get them up. I hope he fails.

By the way, Kim and Chanda took the first set in a tiebreak and it looks like Momo/Justine will take the second.

The RG final was an excellent match. It really only came down to a few points here and there, and it's a shame Kim lost. Having said that, I don't think it's worth what you would probably have to pay to obtain a copy. You can check www.tennistapes.com to see if they have it.

My friend is having a party this weekend and I wanna go but I have to figure out a way to ask my parents if I can go... I think my parents trust me but:

1) My friend's father owns a couple of houses in town and one of them happens to be un-occupied at the moment so that's where the party is :o

2) A bunch of people are sleeping over and I'm one of those people who was invited to stay the night... I'm not sure my parents would be crazy about me going to party and only coming home the next morning :o

3) I'm going to sound like a total nerd but here goes :o Whenever I go out, it's never to parties and I've never had alcohol before :o And there's going to be alcohol at this party and I could try and lie about that but that wouldn't work because a) I hate lying to my parents and b) my dad is a teacher at school and he finds out everything!

So, how to I ask my parents if I can go? And for me, it's not as simple as just asking them because I've never asked to go to a party before. And if they ask me if there's gonna be alcohol, I have to say yes but if they ask if i'm going to drink, :confused: I haven't even decided myself if I wanna drink or not lol

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

Well, here's the advice I'll give you:
Give your parents reason to trust you. If they ask you if there'll be alcohol, tell the truth. And if you promise not to drink, don't. If you build a trusting relationship with your parents, life will be easier fo you in the future.
Don't risk getting caught in a lie, especially if your dad is likely to be the one to catch you!

And don't feel dorky...I'm older than you and I hardly EVER drink--I only have wine at weddings and such. No casual drinking at all.
So I'm the dorky one. :)

A bit of advice: If you say you're not going to drink, don't drink at all. Not even a glass. If you start drinking, it's much harder to stop than to not drink at all...and drunk people have this way of always thinking that they're sober

Np, Marly... I think I can receive emails.... it's just sending that is problematic... when I dial into the uni network from home it works... but when I plug my laptop into the network point in my office it doesn't, and gives me this strange error message about "relaying denied" pfff.

It's strange that you two are finding the board slow... I can't notice any discernible difference in performance here :confused:.... maybe it's always been uniformly slow for me! LMAO.

I drink with my sister and Neva every few months or so, but then I only have 1 bottle of Smirnoff Ice the whole evening. Actually, alcohol just makes me sleepy. It works like the depressant it is on me, but it seems to make everyone else act unbelievably idiotic.

Hrmm... if you have NEVER drunk alcohol before, I would kinda suggest you try it for the very first time either with family in your house, or in just with a few very close friends.... alcohol affects different people differently, and if you don't know how alcohol personally affects you, I'm not sure if you'd want to find out for the very first time in a very public setting.

LOL.... I can't get "happy drunk" I just immediately turn bright red and develop a splitting headache and become morose and cranky all night.

Well, like I said, I personally wouldn't classify drinking as fun. It just makes me sleepy. (I actually drank half a bottle of Mike's Hard Lemonade one night because I had insomnia, and whaddaya know? I was zonked 30 minutes later :p ) I just like the way Smirnoff Ice tastes.
