My Detailed Injury Report

Yesterday at the Australian Open, I was very excited to see my favourite player in action. Juanqui had teamed up with Santiago Ventura and after winning the first set 6-4, things looked bright for Ferrero. In fact, the opposing team had even made an attempt to prevent Juan from getting to any balls, and instead targetted Santiago. Ferrero's groundstrokes were powerful and very accurate.

With a bit of luck, the Americans somehow managed to win the next set 6-3. And they also somehow escaped a code violation after one of the Americans cursed at Ferrero and Ventura.

After a fantastic run in the last set, Ferrero and Santiago had one game point to lead 5-3. It was a long point, and sometime during the rally, Juan Carlos stumbled on his ankle after reaching a difficult ball. The rally continued and Ventura won the point single handedly.

Everyone went quiet and Juan just layed on the ground crying. Santiago quickly removed Juan's shoe. All the players sat down for the change ends break. Juanqui had ice on his foot, which had already been strapped twice before the match.

He decided not to continue playing. He seemed to walk fine when he left the courts, and possibly his retirement was only precautionary. I do predict that he will still play in his second round match.

I will post my 10 photos of the match when they are developed

He cried?
Can't stand the bad luck anymore then. God, this must be frustrating for him.

I hope he is really okay to play on. I actually am not thinking that he can win against Zabaleta even before the injury, now it is even more impossible. But with all the bad luck he's been having, he is due for a miracle.

oh thank god i didn't go to that match, if i saw him cry i'm sure i would have cried too. At his match against van gemerden, he fell over and i almost started crying, even though nothing was wrong. Has he withdrawn from the singles yet? because if he hasn't he must be alright to carry on.
