Juanqui At the Australian Open

Ferrero Forever

Juanqui drew a qualifier first round, which is frightening me now. Then it's probably gonna be Zabaleta in the second round and Coria in the 3rd. I will definetly be going to the first round, and hopefully the 3rd round against Coria. I can't wait to see my two faves face off against eachother. I have a really good feeling about the qualifier and Zabaleta, but i'm still worried about the qualifier. Just so long as he does he best, which i'm sure he will.

I guess he can go through first and second round. With Coria it'll be pretty hard. Two years ago I would say that he would certainly win. But now I'm not sure. I mean we don't really know in what shape he is.

I hear JC needs to make it to the fourth round to stay in the top 50... that's not a good thing. But I think assuming he finds some half decent form, he should get there. I still believe Coria is a nothing player outside of clay, and really, he doesn't have the weapons to hurt good players.

shit noway....if he goes out of top 50 he be struggling for seedings and entry into a lot of tournaments. man if ever i/he wanted/needed to win 3 matches in a row, AO 2005 would be it.

Ok, I saw the match and it was fantastic. This guy was very very very good, he hit the ball so powerfully and the crowd was not behind Ferrero. Ferrero started off pretty poorly in the 1st set, but then he was so fantastic. I had fantastic seats thanks to Roger Federer (I thought Ferrero was practising on the court behind us, so i went and i knocked 3 people around, and i asked someone where is he, and it turned out they said Federer, not Ferrero. So we lost our seats but we found better ones. Right behind GGL, someone Ferrero knew and his coach. We got the chance to talk to GGL for a long time as well as everyone else, GGL and his coach signed my hat and were being really nice. There were about 100 people cheering for the other dude, and me, GGL, his coach and that other dude were almost the only people cheering for Ferrero. I went crazy cheering for him, i was yelling out at the top of my lungs every point, started spelling out his name, and the other people started booing ferrero, so i screamed out Shut Up. It was like me against 100 people, and I won. Ferrero kept looking in my direction, and saw that i waws supporting him. Then I got crushed trying to get an autograph, and he came to me almost first because he knew how much i supported him, but we got trampled. Some media person wanted ferrero to do an interview, and he didn't want to, but they ended up making him do it anyway. I felt sorry for him, but I had the best time. I got heaps of photos too, which i will post later.

Antonio Martinez Cascales, trainer of the Valencian, has indicated shortly after that although Juan Carlos has pain in the zone, "is not as serious as it seemed at first".
The Valencian player injured when trying a volea of right and with its companion they decided to leave the party against the Americans Rick Leach and Brian MacPhie with a marker of 4-6, 6-2 and 3-5.

That's what I found about his injury. Sweet Jesus, why him?

dammit it was such a long time I waited for this, thank god they showed a set and a half so that I could see how he's playing; I think he played with more confidence and with no sign that the ankle was bothering him, which is what I was most scared of. He was able to move well and looked calm. Oh god, thank you.

If he can play like this against Coria I think he can sweep him away

I'm happy with his performance, losing to Coria is not bad at all, I would rather he lose to Coria than to any other player. I'm very happy and i'm oh so proud of him too. I hope this is the start of a fabulous 2005. I wasn't expecting anything major from him at the Australian Open, but what he did was heaps better than I expected. Congrats Juanqui on a job well done, hope you can keep it up for the rest of the year as i know you can (and i hope he has not lost any fans because of his loss to Coria, as i know a lot of people were expecting him to do the job, but I think i know you guys well enough to know that JC has the best fans, who support him win or lose.) But I HATE YOU CHANNEL 7, I DON"T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT TIM HENMAN, IF JC IS ON ROD LAVER I EXPECT YOU TO SHOW HIM, the commentators actually said here we have a battle royale between JC and Guille, so i was thinking fabulous, get to see him play, then i hear We are crossing over to Vodafone Arena to see Henman VS Davydenko, and i threw my shoe at the tv and got in trouble from my mum. I HATE YOU CHANNEL 7, NOTHING YOU CAN SHOW ON TV WILL EVER BE ENOUGH PAYBACK FOR THE MATCH YOU DEPRIVED ME OF, I FRIGGIN HATE YOU SO MUCH.

Seriously does Australia have something against Spain, because the only times they've moved from Rod Laver Arena is when Nadal and Ferrero have been on there. I can't understand why they didn't show ferrero though, because i'm sure if non-tennis fans were flicking through the channels, they would have stopped to have a perv at ferrero. If they were tennis fans it would have been a great match. I just don't understand. Right now on tv i have, you guessed it, the one and only Lleyton Hewitt.

I'm a little disappointed that Juanqui lost of course but still proud of him. Things could have been worse if he crashed out in the 1st round. Losing to a top 10 player isn't that bad, but I thought he would put up a good fight after his win over Zabaleta ( in which he handed him a bagel ). But anyway, I just hope he'll do better in the upcoming tournaments.

So does that mean Juanqui's ranking will drop to around 50?? How is that so??

I totally agree with u guys about the whole Henman thing. I mean I thought they would air the Juanqui-Guille match as they were playing in the Rod Laver Arena .. But instead they showed Henman- Davydenko which was played on Vodafone... I was anticipating the match the night before and all I got was seeing Henman being whipped in straight sets.

I saw a few seconds of the highlights.. It seemed that Guille was moving around the court really good.. from side to side.. he was just too fast....

Lalitha, you can go to his fans site jc-ferrero.com fan forum under
Australian Open thread pg 24 to see his postmatch interview.
According to the fans who watched the match, he played pretty well
and he's quite positive. That's a good sign.

Milan I guess.
The last time he played in Milan was 2002 which was also his first match in that year because he didn't take part in Aus Open due to injury.
Currently I think he will be participating lots of tournaments in order to gets more points.

His serve retrograde so much. That's upset me.Hewitt's revive base on his power increased including serve, hitting balls ect. There is a power-leader tennis world.JC please do more exercise to make your musle stronger.

Thank-you Emilita. I feel so sad about missing his hit-up sessions now. We only saw his match.

Hey, was that on the day when he played against the Dutch guy? Cos we were told he wasn't practising!!! If he was I'm going to kill somebody!!!!

don't worry, i asked too and they told me he wasn't practising as well, and even though they told me he wasn't practising i still went around all the courts looking for him and he wasn't there. Mabye he was on the inside courts, but theres no public access so we wouldn't have got to see him. At least we got to see him in person, yet alone playing so well, not getting injured, and winning.

I had access to the indoor courts but I never saw him there...after a while watching practices can actually get a bit boring to tell u the truth so if u missed them, it's no big deal!

Especially when you're getting squashed by a bunch of people who hardly know the first thing about tennis. Grrr....yes, I've had some bad experiences. Especially since I'm 5 foot nothing and I can't see over people!!!

Aw, too bad he wasn't practising. I met some lady from the TV and she had a list of who was practising and where, and Ferrero wasn't on it on the second day. Weh!
