O.K. it's taken me this long to work out that Adelaide is GMT+10.5hrs
That means it's Tuesday at like 7am, so still a while to go, but hopefully when I get to school tomorrow, the OOP will be out for Wednesday, and Jim's name will be on it.
Thank you Sun, for creating a time difference.

  They can't give us any because as far as I was told, they don't know the scores themselves because it's not televised on TV (only beginning semis or final I think)

Without anywhere a scoreboard and without TV coverage, the only realistic chance would be if you knew a person that it watching the matches courtside at the tournament and if you got infos by SMS or phone on this way.

I wish they would show it as well, but unfortunatley outside of this month tennis is not that big in Australia.

It should get better from next week on though. One of the TV channels starts showing alot of tennis so we wont be waiting hours and hours for results!!

Neely

wow, not bad that donation from Bullock! :worship:

Not sure how much she is earing, but I think 1 million is much more for her than 10 millions are for Schumacher who is the best earning sports athlete together with Tiger Woods in the world...

basically everything helps, if many people give at least something it also accumulates, but even better if the ones who can afford it easily give more

I heard Bill Gates was giving $1 Billion. Sandra Bullock (a great person) $1 Million.

So far tennis is leading from all sports. They are doing a lot to donate money. I'm proud of it. Tennisplayers have heart. You can't say the same from soccer player. I hate 'em all. Fuck this boring sport and these miserly millionairs.

Right now there is a cricket match in Sydney and the fans have donated over $150,000 with the aim being to get to around $200,00 by the end of the match.

There is also a match scheduled for the 10th of january between Asia and the rest of the world, with all of the profits going to the relief effort. That should make a fair nit of money which is a good thing.

Neely, what does "billion" mean in German??
Bilbo said English "billion" means "Milliarde" in German: 1.000.000.000

That confused me, I already heard that billion has two meaning in USA and Britain. What English people sometimes call "billion" I believe is trillion in American.

I was really confused by that and didn't know for sure, that's why I asked Bilbo for the translation what he meant.

Hmm, I'm not sure that this entry makes it very clear which is traditionally used in which country (12 zeros: UK, 9 zeros: US).

Anyway, nowadays people in the UK use the term "billion" to refer to one thousand million (i.e. the same meaning as in the US). The meaning of billion as one million million has largely disappeared, although it might be used in some circumstances. I think it's normally avoided due to the possible confusion that could arise.

So, how many Aus residents have been reading these scoring threads? Can you call the media room at the tournament and get the scores every once in a while? I know that Socket, Deb and I (and others) have done this during US tournaments that had no coverage. Because I'm back in Sydney again Peggy ;)
I got home around 45 minutes ago. I had tennis withdrawals the moment I left the tennis centre!
I never assumed my guys would get so far in the tournament (and the tournament is kinda slow. Some first round doubles matches were on today!!), not including pimpim. Jurgen's second round match is on a Thursday :-/

I guessed Jim and Jordan hadn't played, because it was the only result not up, and I had already guessed at like 8.30pm local time... but I think they're on now, except the live score doesn't cover doubles  Anyone able to update scores??

Quarter to twelve in Adelaide... where is the result?

Kristen

I wonder if anyone actually went. There was only one Aussie playing tonight... a local South Australian. But still, even during the days there's only been a couple of hundred spectators, their asses glued to their centre court seats.
