On Federer: "The toughest guy at the moment is Federer, there's no doubt about that. Rivalry-wise is not just the two of us so is not really a rivalry obviosuly. We've had good matches in the past and he has had the better of me in the last few times, but we are trying to change that. There's no doubt he is the better player at the moment on all surfaces. He is the toughest guy to play and he deserves to be No. 1, but on any given day there are tough players."

On the top four seeds: "In the last two big events, Tennis Masters Cup in Houston, and the Australian Open, the semifinals were the top four players in the world. Is good for tennis I think, but there is still a lot of good players out there that can close up on any given day. We all know that."

On rivalries: "Agassi - Sampras is one of the greatest rivalries but that was sill going when I went on the tour. That went on for a long time. There are a lot of top players, You had Lend -Edberg, Becker. Chang - Sampras had great rivalries as well. There were a lot of even before that I didn't see a lot of, Connors - McEnroe was one of the greatest, Borg with them as well. There's not only those two players out there, at diffrent times is always dropping and changing, but at the moment i s good for tennis that Marat is playing well again. He is not only a hell of a player, but he is good for the game. He is a different character out there and I think we need that for the sport."

I like the black/white shoes better than the blue/white ones he was wearing at the AO. The blue color didn't always go with the color of his shirt.

But I just check this year's calendar.It seems the tournament will change from Toronto to Montreal this year :cuckoo:

Lleyton Hewitt, the world’s No. 1 tennis player, is Adelaide Football Club’s new No. 1 ticket-holder.

Trigg said Hewitt had been one of the Crows’ official ambassadors since 1999.

“He has also provided us with great promotion in press conferences in New York to training sessions in Spain, and, more than that, Lleyton is what you would describe as, I think it’s fair to say, a fanatical Crows supporter,” Trigg said.

“He can often be seen around the club, having a kick on (Max) Basheer Reserve and, more than on a couple of occasions, rubbing shoulders with the players, most recently giving an address to our group on the topic of concentration, which I know was a very important session.”

Trigg presented Hewitt with the No. 1 gold membership ticket and explained that he was the No. 1 ticket-holder. The club also had entertainer Greg Champion as the No. 1 ticket-holder in Melbourne and SANFL legend Peter Carey (448 senior games with Glenelg and 19 for SA from 1971-88) as the No. 1 ticket-holder in Tasmania.

“I’ve come down here since 1991 and watched the boys play every week – week in, week out – and it was always my dream just to meet the guys,” he said.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to meet them on a lot of occasions so far and for me to come in here and have a chat with them all during the finals campaign this year was pretty special for me.

“So this tops it off once again. To be really a part of the Adelaide Football Club is fantastic.”

“I look up to so many of these guys. Nigel Smart was there for the first game (in 1991) … I used to walk over here (from his parents’ West Lakes home) with my dad and watch the guys train and play when I was only nine or 10 years old, so for me to be talking to those guys and answering questions is a bit weird – surreal in a lot of ways.

“The most nervous thing I think I’ve done all year was put on the Crows’ guernsey before the ‘Slowdown’ match (mainly for past players). A Wimbledon final’s nothing compared with that (!)”

Exactly. My brother had the same kind of thing done a few years ago although he didn't even get surgery, just got the foot frozen and warts + split toenail were taken off. Wasn't really that serious at all.

I've never worked out exactly what the point of them is either, but all the AFL clubs seem to have one, usually a celebrity of some kind (I think someone has the Treasurer, and someone else has Molly Meldrum who is a TV rock commentator). I think it's a sort of profile/publicity thing. Occasionally it's a very rich person who hauled them put of trouble ;) I doubt there's many perks except invitations to club events (award nights, pre-season lunches, etc) and probably great seats whenever they want them.

And in Lleyton's case, he gets one of the Crows as his roomie. Do you think the Treasurer and Ms. Meldrum have AFL players living in their houses, too? ;) ;)

He's extra special then :) (btw, Molly is a guy - don't ask cos I have no idea :p )

:lol: sorry but I have to ask: exactly how often do the Crows play in Tasmania? That poor guy wouldn't exactly get a lot of mileage out of his "ticket" ;) At least the Melbourne guy would get more than half the away games.

Meldrum is famous for several things: knowing every rock star ever (half his totally unselfconscious anecdotes start: "I was in a bar with Elton and Madonna ..."), being probably the most open and highest profile gay "mainstream" celebrity, winning $500,000 for charity on who wants to be a millionaire (he was GOOD), getting stuck in LAX with the wrong visa and being deported when he was supposed to interviewing some superstar or other, and taking in quite a few street kids over the years into his own home and giving them a life. So to be honest, it wouldn't particularly surprise me if he did house one or two footy players :lol: But actually I think Lleyton is just special.

Lleyton doesn't look like he's missing playing in hot, humid Miami, does he? ;) In fact, he looks down right happy. ;)

Is it just me, or does anyone else think one of those pics from the game shows Bec not looking very happy and Lleyton seems to be looking at her like, "what's wrong now, honey?" It was probably nothing, they probably didn't publish the ones with her smiling. You know how they seem to do with celebs sometimes, just to create a stir.

There might be types of files it won't upload, in which case all you need to do is go into the Paint program and Save As and change the type from bmp to jpg or whatever.

Another thing, I don't think you can do it on quick reply, but only on regular reply.

Lleyton is their job:devil: No, but seriously, I think it's not very good, to be soo dependent on your parents. I mean, you have to take distance sometimes. But they really are at every match he plays (unless I have missed one where they weren't there, but I'm sure that's very rare). If that's his way of living, so be it, but I think, and I'm sure more people think that, it's very unhealthy.

I know. Of course it is none of our business whether he travels alone or with the entire Hewitt clan, but it just seems odd that the parents would follow around their 24-year-old son to almost every single tournament and be seen at every single match. I understand GSs and some other big tournaments, but even then it gets me to wonder why since they do not ever seem to miss out on even a single tiny point Lleyton plays. I hope he gains some independence when he's married.

they don't attend every single match he plays, but they defenitely travel with him a lot. but ... the tour can be really lonely so it's good to have some support from your family. and if he plays better when he has a bunch of family and friends with him, then I guess it can't hurt. :)

My thoughts exactly. I just never understand why people seem to be so concerned about whether Lleyton's parents go to his matches or not. And I'm sure they will continue to travel with him, and combine baby-sitting with their match-watching duties, next year. It's worked for Lleyton so far, so why change it?

No they don't seem to have their own jobs. Their lives revolve around Lleyton and his tennis. Well whatever works for them. Lots of female players have their parents along, but usually only 1 parent. It just seems odd to the rest of the world because Lleyton is a 24 year old male and he often has both parents plus his sister and even some travelling companions with him as opposed to other players with a smaller entourage.

Jaslyn is normally only at those tournaments that Joachim is playing in.

If it were me I would probably have my family and friends with me all the time too, because we are so close and I'm only a year younger than Lleyton. I think it really helps to have people you can really trust around you.

Goran should have followed this advice. He let me himself get talked into some risky business investments, and now he's close to bankruptcy. He's playing on the seniors tour for the cash. He must have blown through several million dollars, the stupid bastard.
