Federer named ITF world champion

Roger Federer and Anastasia Myskina have been named 2004 world champions by the International Tennis Federation.
Switzerland's Federer won 11 titles including Wimbledon and the Australian and US Opens and the Masters Cup.

In a year in which four different women won the Grand Slam events, French Open champion Myskina of Russia edged the award for her play in the Fed Cup.

Bob and Mike Bryan and Virginia Ruano Pascual and Paola Suarez were named doubles world champions.

"Roger Federer was the clear choice based on his extraordinary performance in 2004," said ITF President Francesco Ricci Bitti.

"The selection of Anastasia Myskina came down to her performance at the Olympic Games where she reached the semi-finals and her seven singles wins in Fed Cup in 2004.
"We are proud to have both players as our 2004 ITF World Champions."

France's Gael Monfils and Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands are the junior world champions.
