i know,i saw the match and Lindsay looked so bored and tired, she played without confidence,no eager to win...rumors say she wants to retire.i hope it's not true

no. that can't be true about lindsay. she just said in a press conference that she hoped her knee could hold up for a couple more years so she can continue to play.

but she did seem so uninterested yesterday in the match i saw against Amanda. she didn't look like she cared if she won or lost. :(

Why are some assuming that Schalken "gave up"?

Is it not possible he just got blown away?

Did anyone actually see the match?

Yes I saw the match and no, Sjeng certainly did not give up. He fought to the end. He didn't even play badly, not at all. But Paul-Henri was just unstoppable. Everything was on his side, even the net cord. The first break of Sjeng's serve was a very long game that Sjeng lost in the end. At 3-0 Mathieu had a break point to go 4-0 and the bounced of the net cord TWICE, until if finally wound up on Sjeng's part of the court. It was almost cruel and Sjeng could do nothing but smile.

The truth is Sjeng was good, but Paul-Henri was simply amazing. He blew everyone away, even the audience wase excited and you know how disappointed they were because the all-Russian final didn't happen. There's such urgeny, power and audecity in his play that I'm sure he will be a huge star in the not so distant future. In all probability, he would have blown anyone away today. All credit to him.

I'm very sad because Sjeng lost. But I can't help but hail the shining prospect that is Paul-Henri Mathieu.

Congrats on your first title, the first of many. ;)

I didn't think Sjeng gave up, but a bagel is really bizarre against him! I've seen reports that Paul-Henri was playing magnificently.
