I thought it would be nice to create a new thread during the Off season, because it didnīt happen so much in this Pim Pim forum the last days.
It would be nice to get to know everyone here even better and to get to know your hometowns, favourite holiday places or other places you like ;)

I will start with some nice winter pics of my hometown Hamburg. Normally we donīt have much snow here, but the pics are from last year and there we had some great days with so much snow, it was unbelievable! The "sea" you see on the pics is called "Alster" and it is situated in the middle of the city. It is very lovely and especially now around christmas when there are lights everywhere...

And this is one of my favourite places in Stockholm,
the zoo "Skansen" and there especially these mooses :)

Sommarsverige, I visited your hometown this summer. Hamburg is such a beautiful city. Maybe I also went to the places where your photos are taken.

The first photo is the Temple of Heaven, one my fav places in my hometown,Beijing. The #2 is a bar by a lake in the downdown, also my fav place, I love to hang out with my friends there. the only problem is that they charge too much(e.g. 5 Euro for a can of Coke).
#3 is Roma, I love it. :worship:

Unfortunately I live in Hamburg, but I would love to live in Sweden :hearts:
This has been my dream for so many years and the same as you, I also think I am born in the wrong country ;)

Pina, yeah, Hamburg is a very beautiful city.
Have you been on a holiday trip to Europe, or? Which other countries have you been to?

By the way, I found a flag of the favourite country from all of us here;)

There are many ways to save money. In Europe, if you are under 25 years old and a student, you will get discount in almost everything---train tickets and museum tickets for instance. If you are an architecture student, you don't have to pay anything in any non-private museums and galaries in France.
There will be some promotion price, e.g. a train ticket from Paris to Berlin would be 25 euro if you book it two weeks earlier(sometimes). And don't forget some "cheap" airlines like Rayair. We flew from Roma to Paris for only about 30 euros. Anyway, you'd better plan your trip earlier and book all the tickets you need earlier online. You'll save a lot of money by doing so.;) oh, one more tip. Renting a car would be a good idea, and so you could live in motels. Motels are much cheaper than hotels in town and cozier than youth hostel.

I have to admit that a trip to Europe is expensive, but it worth the money.:worship:

@Toppu, I'm with you. I love Italy!

Jexy

If it helps, you can get train tickets for Europe in advance at this site:
www.raileurope.ca

it's in canadian dollars tho...

I absolutely agree with you, Pina! Those cheap airlines are really fantastic. In fact, I didnīt use them so often yet, but itīs great when you want to go to Stockholm (itīs pretty far away from Hamburg by train or car). Usually I had to pay 300-400 € and now with Ryan Air I only pay about 30€. Little difference, I think. The only negative thing with Ryan Air is that they donīt fly from the "big" airports, but from smaller ones which are situated outside the cities and sometimes the flights go at strange times, like very early or very late.
But I am very happy that Ryan Air exists ;)

I was only once in Asia so far, but I liked Bangkok a lot. Here is a pic from that trip.

Pina
12-20-2004, 01:08 AM
I guess Ryan Air can't afford major airports. If you take a plane to Paris with Ryan Air, you will find out that you land on someplace 3 hours ride from Paris.

Anyway, travel is a great thing.:bigclap:

These were both taken yesterday, at a place called "Dunn's Swamp" which is about a 4 hour drive west of sydney. It was gorgeous! Sure, I got sunburnt... but I enjoyed myself during the process. (The thing on the right of pic 2, is the boat motor, if you were wondering ;))

I didn't know you were living in Hamburg!!! I lived in Hamburg for about 18 months some years ago and my work address was An der Alster 3. :) I saw the Alster every day.. The S Bahn into Hauptbahnhof and walked from there down some dodgy narrow streets where I saw the shopkeepers washing the sidewalks down, and one day saw a young man whose face was drenched in blood pulling himself along on the ground..... I still feel bad I didn't stop, but I thought he had been in a bad fight. He wasn't asking for help.

My favorite thing about the Alster was when they put up the big Christmas tree in the middle of the Innen Alster. That is SO pretty. And I loved the trees tied onto the tops of buildings. Lots of nice memories of Hamburg. I'd love to go to the Masters Cup there. :)

And yes, the city is wonderful, I love to live here and the christmas season is always so special, unfortunately itīs over now :(
But the place you are living looks so beautiful!

yeah, i live about an hour from chicago in Illinois. but my school is even closer, about 30 minutes away. it's nice living so close to the city, cause whenever something's going on that i want to see (like the auto show, which is where i took those pics) i can take a day trip and be back home in the same day.

Why aren't there any tennis events in chicago?

Funny, Peggy ;) I got it for christmas in 2003.

No, I gave him the name Pim Pim. In fact, he was a quite long time nameless and in Madrid last year a friend bought a teddy and gave him the name "Willy" (after Willy Canas). And as I had the moose with me, and Pim Pim and Willy played against eachother, I thought his name just has to be Pim Pim ;)
And as we all know, this brought luck cos Pim Pim won the match. Last weekend it helped as well, but it seems that the moose is only bringing luck to Pim Pim and not to Toker :D

Does it count, if it's ME at my favourite places!?
Police - taken at the Aussie Open. My friend thought it would be funny to cover up the 'po' and scratch our heads like we have Lice :)
Portraying the tool - My friend (Arthur. Its always arthur!) made me do this. It was the last time Id be in the hostel, and he knew how Lleyton makes me feel.
In the Garden - Standing behind the tarp (against the fence), which was the court where Jürgen was practicing at the time. Lets face it. Banana's are extremely amusing, and I didn't want JM to see what I was doing :o
Der - Just being spastic during one of Jonas' matches at the Aus Open
K at DC - Self explanatory right? Just a photo of myself, taken after Austria had just lost 0-5. Check out the lost Swiss guy behind me!
