1)Does he still lives with his parents or with Mirka?
2)anyone has a pic of his house? I think he said he has grey and white walls with pictures on them
3)anyone has seen pics of his cat? He said he do not have pets cos he cannot take care of them, but on this forum someone name a cat!

more questions welcome ! and also with answers

-he recently bought a new house in Oberwil, Basel, and lives there with Mirka. before that he bought a new home for him & his family in Bottmingen.
-his house is located in a quiet area, close to nature, but new houses are being built around it.
he doesn't have a cat as he travels a lot, but his parents have one. his dad didn't come to Wimbledon last year as he had to look after it. his dad rarely comes to his matches, unless they are close to Switzerland.

here's a map with all the "places" he once lived or is still living... :)

Münchenstein: Is that his birthplace???
Bottmingen: there are his parents living
Oberwil: is his new residence...

Yes, Rogi was born in Munchenstein.

I saw a pic of "Ginger" once on BBC fr last yr but not sure if it's really the Federer's cat... it was orange anyway, which is why it's called Ginger!

Rogi loves cats, lions, tigers... he's a Leo!

He was also at Wimbledon; I took a pic of the scoreboard during Roger's second round match, and later noticed both of his parents were in the players' box (which is directly above the sb).

Actually this photo was taken 2 years ago, and believe me he has gained some weight since then! I have more recent pics but unfortunately they are digital in jpg format and so are too big to post on this site :(

And yes, all those files were my courses in computers and management. A LOT of hard work!

this should answer your 1st & 2nd question...

Gal pal: Former WTA player Miroslava Vavrinec, who retired from the game in 2002 after a foot injury. The two met at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
"It's important in a girlfriend to understand what I'm doing, that she likes me. I don't ask for too much, I want to get along well. I don't like to fight."

His sister's a nursing student.

Roger likes Japanese food, among others. He also likes gnoggi gorgonzola. :)

Ah, good taste in food our Rogi has :yeah:

What was Mirka's highest ranking on the WTA tour? Did she play any grand slam competition?

Mrs. B
12-02-2004, 01:54 PM
Mirka was ranked something like No. 76 at some point. somebody correct me but i think she made it to the 4th round of the USO in 2001. she also played Fed Cup for Switzerland, likes hardcourt, and likes going to the net. :)

so many cute cats :)

No cat here :( well many of them in our garden. Some of them like to visit us in home as well, but my mum hates cats (really scared of them) so she starts screaming when they enter the house. I love them though, often go outside to the cats :p When I'm older I would love to have a cat. But probably that won't go good, got allergy for animals :(

This are two pics of me in Australia last summer (Australian winter). These two cats are of a family I was visiting for a few days. In the pic with the young cat it wanted to jump out of my arms, she was really scared for the older cat (something had happened and were fighting all the time. I had to hold the young cat a lot when the older cat was walking around in the house as well. I hope they're friends again now)

I have questions:
1. There are several rumors between Rogi and Martina Hingis b4, I TOTALLY DON'T believe them, but are they true??Well, i know they are close friend.
2.Hey, when do u guys think that Rogi will getting married?
3.Why Roger Federer never sign autograph to the spectators?I mean during the match.
4.Why i can't see Rogi above teeth??(he..he...)
5.What is the reason for Rogi to fire his coach-Peter Lundgren??(maybe fire...)

he does sign autographs once in a while, or at least he did before :p (he did when I did visit the Rotterdam tournament in 2002. But I didn't have paper with me, and I had a camera in my hand. So I had the choice. taking pics or running to my place get a paper and run back with the possibility that he was gone and I had no pics and no autograph. So I did choose the first option)

At Houston, before the game with Marat, The latin ESPN, said the Marat had some practise with Guillermo Cañas. Also before the finasl with Lleyton, they said Roger only did some moves, warms up with his trainer, a couple of minutes before the game, and they were wondering if that was all his practise for the last game-
My questions is....Any idea who practise roger in huston? Does he likes to practise with fellow top ten player?, And in general, do you have a list of playesr he had practises on each tournament? THANKS

Good question Silvy-

I am not sure, but I know that Coria was eager to practice with as many players as possible to get the feel for tennis again so I am pretty sure that Roger was one of them. Other than that I heard they also practice together occassionally.

Apart from Coria I think he gets along very well and hits with Henman but I am really not 100% sure

*M*

I read somewhere that Roger and Tim were the first to arrive in Houston, so they practiced together. I thought he hit with Canas, too. At Wimbledon he practiced with Goran at one point, because his first opponent was going to be a lefty. At the US Open I met a woman who said that Roger had a great practice with Tommy Haas. Apparently their practice set was so competitive, it was almost like a real match! I wish I could have seen that. At the Australian Open they said he was hitting with some of the junior players. I don't know about any of his other practices. He has a buddy that's been at some of the tournaments. I think he hits with him too? (correct me if I'm wrong)

I wonder how players "hook up" with each other for practices. Does anybody know? I imagine Roger can get anyone he wants to to practice with him. At the US Open I saw the following combinations practicing together: Hrbaty/Grosjean, Chela/Massu, Nalbandian/Kuerten, JC Ferrero/A Costa.

I believe that Rogi did practise w Guille in Houston. I saw him practise w Marco Chiudinelli in TO [another Swiss player]. Too bad Mirka wasn't there. He has practised w Cdn players in Montreal, as well as w his good buddy Max Mirnyi! Rogi's pretty friendly w just about everyone on the tour. I w love to see him practise w Marat or Juanqui!! or Carlos! or even Rafa!

When I saw him practise this year at Wimbledon it was with Yves Allegro; Reto and Pavel were also there but mainly just picking up balls. Another common pairing (I assume because I've seen them at Wimbledon and Madrid) is Moya and Ferrero. During the first half of the year especially, Roger made a point of asking juniors to play with him, and that's one of the reasons he was able to handle Andreev in the final of Gstaad; maybe he should find some time to hit with Nadal and Berdych ;)

I've also read about Roger practising with Tim (these two often both play with Lleyton Hewitt as well), and Henners does say he gets on very well with Roger. The only time it may have been detrimental was at Wimbledon 2002 - Tim's journal noted they warmed-up together before their first round match; elsewhere I read that Tim gave him quite a thrashing in a practice set, and possibly dented his confidence for the match against Mario Ancic.

well, considering his parents live just in the next town where he and Mirka have their place, i'm sure it's being arranged.

before this new place of their own, Roger & his parents bought a house in Bottmingen, that time Roger said he still preferred to stay with his family every time he came home after all that travelling. I believe the sister lives with the parents.

Mirka's parents are in Schaffhausen. They run a jewelry shop.

Robert Federer used to work in a pharmaceutical company. I am not sure if he still there, then again that's why he is based in Basel as that's where they all are. His mother also worked there as well, but I think she looks after a lot of the fan mail stuff.

Too long- I remember the flights between Australia and Europe they were a pain in the a**

My guess is he would have to stop over in South East Asia to transit- I guess about 7-8 hours from Doha to say, Singapore or Bangkok, a stoppover anywhere between 2-5 hours, then 7-8 more hours to Melbourne on the connecting flight. You are looking at roughly 20 hours from take-off from Doha to landing in Melbourne.

Which is a lot better than what I did once: Sydney-Bangkok-London-TelAviv, it took sth like +30 hours altogether

RonE, you are right. There is no direct flight from Doha to Melbourne. Most likely he will have to go via Kula lumper. From Doha -> KL is 10 hours flight leaving at midnight, and KL -> Mel is about 9 hours. The transit time in KL is about 9 to 10 hours if he arrives KL at noon and catches the direct flight to Mel at night. So pretty much will take 1.5 day on the road. :)

I was looking at the ATP site and Roger is N°1 with 50 points
why they give him more points than Johansson and Moya? I do not like the players loose all the points at the start of the new season.

Kooyong do not gives points.

RogiFan88

Silvy, each tournament is worth so many pts -- check out the ATP site and select tournaments to find out how much each is worth. Some tourneys, like Doha, Dubai, Barcelona, Rotterdam, etc. [I believe] are worth more -- the winner gets 50 pts, whereas others are worth less -- I think Chennai and Adelaide's winners get 35 pts. You can see the breakdown of pts for each tourney.

So my question for the day is :

WHICH DAY AND WHEN WILL HE BE IN KUALA LUMPUR???  I will drive to the airport to welcome him :p

Seriously, do you guys think his schedule had been rather hectic lately? First he flew to Sydney for the private session, then back home for Xmas, and Doha after that (and won the whole thing), now to Melbourne for Kooyong...it sounds tiring to me already and AO hasn't even started yet :o

Federer jets in
World number one and defending champion Roger Federer has arrived in Melbourne ahead of next week's Australian Open.

The Swiss ace jetted in from Qatar, where he won his 21st consecutive match with victory in the Qatar Open at the weekend.

He will prepare to defend his Open title by competing at this week's Kooyong Classic.

Currently in superb form, Federer says he is looking forward to getting another successful season underway at the first grand slam of the year.

"I have to get used to different courts and this is why I arrive early and play Kooyong and [I am] really looking forward to it," he said.

Mr. Q - Juliette, the cow, and her calf, Edelweiss, are kept in a barn up a hill in the town next to Gstaad in the wintertime. In the summer they graze up in the Eggli mountains just above Gstaad.
