Will Lleyton finally play good enough to make a run at the Aussie Open?

I think this year could be Lleyton's year to win his country's grand slam. I think he has a great chance against all the players except Roger. If someone just took out Roger, it would clear the field for Lleyton. Lleyton will get far. Go Lleyton!

I think that the favourite for any slam other than RG at the moment is Federer, but even Federer isn't going to win every match he plays. I don't want to jinx him, but on the form of the last 6 months, I really think Lleyton is the second best player in the world at the moment and when you combine that with rebound ace and an Aussie crowd, who know what could happen? :) He has had some bad luck in the last few years but he's certainly in a better position ranked #3 than he was last year ;)

Lleyton has to not get overwhelmed by the pressure for an Aussie to win. It would probably be good if Alicia Molik could have a really great run to take some of the focus off "can Hewitt do it"! I do think that if Lleyton could make a semi in Melbourne he'd be hard to beat.

If Roger wasnt around, it would be as good as his

Even though its pretty hard to do anything when Rogers at his best, in many of their matches this year, stats well within Lleytons control always seemed to fall when he came up against Roger (compared with what they may have been in matches leading up to it)....ie his 1st serve % would drop, he'd hit double faults on break points

At the moment he just doesnt seem to be as mentally strong a player against Roger than he is against anyone else

I agree Auscon. In my opinion, Lleyton is the most mentally strong player in the circuit, but once he plays against Roger it justs goes away. I think he's getting a little tired of roger, i mean every single time they played in 2004 roger just totally dominated him.

Tennis Magazine favors Hewitt to win the Open simply because he has the "HomeField" Advantage so to speak!
