Great idea Mrs. B. :D

All quiet on the home front here- but I have to be wary of my stealthy cat who likes to make untimely jumps on the keyboard. That aside, all ho-hum today

My only consolation now is that I have enough tapes to last through the offseason.

hi, Blaze! :wavey: betcha you must have a stack of Roger's matches!

do you have it on video tape or dvd?

Blaze

Too bad I have it on Video tapes but I do have alot of them eventhough most of them are incomplete but I don't mind.
My one regret is that I don't have Wimbly 04 final except the closing ceremony :(

I have only been here since August, 2004~~but I have noticed that all of Roger's fans seem to be really nice people. I like that.

My full name is very long, so please call me Luna..(That's my real name anyway) :)

Especially since I am very hungry right now..

Just wanted to check in and say *Hi*.
Now I am on my way to scrounge up some food. Most likely, something sweet...those Christmas cookies sounded so good...but I don't have any yet.
So I think it's going to be Praline Pecan ice cream, Yumm~

BTW~~Please, someone tell me what *bump* means when it is in a post.

Hello Luna and Lina- have seen you guys on this board quite often but not had a chance to talk yet.

I am Ron for those who don't know me- I have been posting since the day of the Wimbledon final. Been a fan of Roger for a couple of years now and was totally ecstatic to finally see him make the breakthrough in 2003.

I am a student and was very busy up until this summer- now I am winding towards the end of my B.A and have a little bit more time so I can post here often :wavey:

Whoa looks like I have been missing a lot. We have a chat thread now, I have always wondered why there isn't one since all the other forums have one.

Hello guys :wavey: , hopefully some of you noticed I have been missing for couple weeks :p I just got back from two weeks vacation in China, so I have missed all TMC :bigcry: And some people *cough* Isy *cough* have the balls to keep rubbing it on me how much action I have missed.

Anyway my name is Lia :D Nice to meet all of you. Please pardon me for not joining the food talk, I just returned from dinner and completely pigged out :p
I have had to fight for food with other 11 people in my tour group during my whole trip afterall :o So now I am really making up for my enforced diet during the last two weeks.

Food not a bad subject and I posted this on the Potato thread and I will put all these pictures again.

Rösti is wonderful and easy to make, though with only one small stove hotplate working I have to be more diligent and served with other dishes, it's very filling and tasty.

hey Lina, this game also exists in Switzerland!!!! We often did it in school before christmas - the whole december!!! I like it very much!! here in Switzerland we call it "Wichteln" - that words come from the little "beings" which often do things when we are sleeping.... hope you understand what i wanna say...

Once a year we draw a name, that is around this time of the year. and we've to make a surprise (just a little joke, with a little poem and a little present) for that person. But that's just part of the Dutch saint nicholas tradition (yes the Saint Nicholas tradition is quite big in Holland)

Great to see so many new names here especially the L group (sorry when I'll mix u up once in a while there are just to many l's around ;) )
Thanks Mrs. B for starting this. It's really a great idea to get to know each other a bit better during the off season (which looks loong right now but is only a few weeks ;) - I'm sure we will surwife the off season somehow even though it's hard not to be able to see Roger play somewhere)

Looks like Roger will be busy appearing on TV - not only in Wetten Dass - but also the next day in the Sportpanorama (12.12.04 18.15 h) (for thouse lucky enough to get swiss TV SF DRS 1 (well guess I have to watch Wetten Dass on Sunday as I'm invited to a birthdayparty on sat night...

looking forward to talk to u all and get to know all of u better.

And last night, I did not have the dream...so I guess Roger and Mirka will have to do without my lovely cooking!

We're all a bunch of "Fed-sick" fans here! Even though Rogi played probably almost the most tennis of any player this year, we still miss him! Proves how much of an impact he makes on us -- on and off the court!

Just as long as Rogi's lying on a lovely sandy warm beach and relaxing, that's good enough for me!

... I have matches, mags, photos, you name it... videoclips, soundbites...

Hi, guys!

I hope you remember me. I've been around this forum for a while but, finally, I decided not to be shy to post at this thread because now I'm really suffering from SRWS*. I think I can feel comfort and comradeness here with you(wait a minute, it looks like "Federer Anomynous" or something:lol: )

(*Severe Roger-Withdrawal Syndrome, aka Soonha's disease ;)
-Warning! You may have it if you have 2 or more of following characteristic symptoms:
1) involuntary movements of fingers clicking on MTF
2) continuous movements of eyeball searching for Roger-related news in internet
3) insomnia if you don't watch one or more Roger's match DVD or tape per day
4) lethargy and/or loss of concentration at work
5) restlessness or lack of patience in waiting for AO next year
- The final diagnosis isn't confirmative until the disappearance of all symptoms in January 2005  )

Anyway, I'm a Korean(female) and now living in US. I'm really glad to have a chance to know many people here from different countries. Fortunate enough for me to have visited many countries, let's see, UK, France, Swiss, Canada, Italy, Norway,.... (I really like Europe. I think there is something connected between Asian and European culture). But unfortunately I haven't been in South America and Australia yet. Well, someday.

Speaking of foods, anybody has have Korean foods? I like Japanese and Chinese but I do think that the best food in the world is Korean(no bias!!! really objective observation). Seriously, i don't know why but Korean foods are addictive. I hope you'll try Korean food sometime. But it's so bad there are no many good Korean restaurants in foreign countries.

Japanese food  I LOVE THEM! I eat them regularly here, just ate one last night actually :D I love almost all of Japanese food with the exception of sashimi. I have never tried it actually, I just can't persuade myself to eat raw food.

Soonha :wavey: Korean BBQ is just  , but not the Kimchi though :p Actually from the time I used to live in US, I found quite a lot of good Korean restaurants in San Francisco. There are quite a bit of good ones too here in Jakarta.

My other two faves are Vietnamese and Italian food. These two used to be my main staple diets while I was in US. Too bad there are not that many good restaurants of them here in Jakarta, especially Vietnamese ones.

Chinese and Indonesian food goes without saying since I grew up on them. I guess most of you have tried Chinese food but maybe not Indonesian food. Indonesian food is very similar to Malaysian food. So the dishes Isy mentioned, we also have it here. My fave Indonesian dish is definetely the chicken satay. i eat sashimi when i'm in the Philippines, then it's guaranteed 100% fresh. best Japanese restaurant i know is there run by this guy from Tokyo who has his place close to the beach and the fishermen bring him their catch direct from the ocean. and he's a real Zen master on the culinary side. :worship:

My other two faves are Vietnamese and Italian food. These two used to be my main staple diets while I was in US. Too bad there are not that many good restaurants of them here in Jakarta, especially Vietnamese ones.

Mrs.B, I'm glad to hear you enjoying Korean foods. And yes, they are very difficult and complicated to cook, even for Koreans. Kimchi is probably the most difficult one(you really tried to make it? Even I don't dare to try it yet! ;)). Kimbap and bulgogi are pretty easy to make, though. Generally Korean foods take a lot of labor and time because there are so many spices and sources in it and so complicated recipes....

I like Pondu! There was a really good Swiss restaurant in Seoul. They played Yodle song and Alpen horn...

Mrs. B
12-01-2004, 11:11 AM
yes, kimchi takes time to prepare, from soaking the cabbage with salt overnight, to chopping the radish and garlic and onions to preparing the mix for the sauce, etc...a bit messy too, till you put them all in a container to let sit for a few days. but it's worth it, cuz it goes so well with anything like bbq or fried fish, and plain rice. yum! i haven't made kimbap in a long time but now that we mentioned it, i'll go to the Asian shop and get some nori.... oh, i also like the big Korean glass noodles! :)

Apprently you guys can´t be left alone over a longer period of time - what´s all the talk about thoses fatty foods? By reading alone you gain one or two kilos.
Lukely I´ve allready brushed my teeth, ready to go to bed,if not i would be off now serching for something sweet and fatty to eat.
Before I come here again I will make sure, that I´ve got a pice of cake and a hot chocolate next to me - I´ve got no will power :(

But why did I have to be ill on 5 december :( Saint Nicholas day is not great when you're ill and you can't even eat the candies which belong to Saint Nicholas day... i'm glad it's weekend! i have tennis practice tomorrow, and i'm looking forward to watching Roger on tv. :)

i also met RonE here in Bern yesterday. unfortunately it was too short, but i showed him the Old Town of Bern, we had a quick bite of sushi, then back to the train station to meet his parents, who were invited to a party here in Bern, then we walked a bit more in the old town, had coffee, then i drove him to the party to join his parents, which was not too far from my place. we kept talking about Roger and tennis!

Great that you met RonE :)

I think I only once met a Roger fan in person (or at least one of this board). Well she doesn't even post here anymore, she used to have a few posts on the old atpworld. Her nick is Meluriel, we met during the DC first round in 2003 (Holland vs Switserland).

Mrs. B
12-10-2004, 11:31 AM
i remember her, yes, and she hasn't been posting since atpworld days. even made nice photos of Roger.

yvonne, do you still hear from Avena?

as tschaeggy said, you should come to Basel, then you'd meet the other fans. ;)

Nymeria
12-10-2004, 11:41 AM
Yeah she made really nice photos of Roger and she was really friendly. Sad that I was hardly able to talk to her (language problem). We only talked for 10 minutes or something (between the two matches on the Sunday of DC). She promissed me to send an autograph of Roger, I still didn't get it

No I don't talk to Avena, I don't like her too much. I blocked her on msn and deleted her from my list

I would love to come to Basel, don't know if I have time for it though. But I really wanna go there one of the next years. But I need some more money for it (I can stay at my uncles place I think so that's not a problem, but I need money to get there and of course for the tickets.)

Good Morning Roger Fanatics. I am one, too :) I have been to IW the last two years, only for a couple of days, but spent much of my time standing at the edge of his practice court. We all know what a differnce a year made for Roger, how he grew into and filled out his expectations for himself, but the experience of seeing him before it happened and then, after, was something I will never forget. In March 2003 the man we adore walked to the practice courts with a heavy bag and brow, still he sweetly stopped, when I asked, to let me take a photograph. Last year the weight of the world was gone, and he was full of lightness, and the desert literally rose up, colors
and space and spirit and he became one with the place. Mrs B, do you play tennis? You mentioned a practice today. I'm playing today, too, if the sun comes out and dries the courts, I hope.

Nymeria

thanks legoles :) and sometimes there are those great practice sets, also to watch close up. It is a treat of treats. A month or so ago, we went to Philadelphia to visit family, and caught a day of the Advanta. Had great seats for the matches but missed the surround, no practice courts and just one match at a time. 2005 sould be a vvery good year for Roger and his fans :) sometimes I feel guilty for liking him so much, instead of someone who is less appealing, lol, but then, I say, "Why not. When I read poetry, I read the best, why not with tennis, too."

So far I've only spoken to a Rogi fan on the phone [altho I've met other tennis fans who share my interests in players]. I guess I just have to fly straight to Zurich [I think that's the only city I can get a direct flight] and have a Rogi reunion [or union]!!

I know it's not so different from Dutch, but I'm terrible with languages ;) Even with German (and I hate the language)

Thanks! Yeah, some posts already, mostly I'm in the Spanish Armada section! But I just LOOOOOVE Roger!

I agree with you...... no offence to the German speaking people here.... but I'm not to fond of that language too! (Im sure lots of people say that about Dutch too! :haha: )

I see :) even while Rogi is my fav player, most of my posts are in other forums ;) so I understand what you mean

Well actually I used to like the German lanuage, but my teacher made me hating the language (she was really unfair to me) I lost fun in the language.

Yeah you're right, German teachers in Holland... people are always complaining about the. But I've to say I had one friendly German teacher :p

I don't know about ever, coz you know I haven't seen all tennisplayers of the history.

Roger, ever the nice & modest guy! :worship:

Robbie Williams is a clown and when he asked Roger why he's not swarmed with women, he said he's not Hollywood. Nice of him to talk about Mirka openly.

LOL at Kylie Minogue, trying to be the diva, and she tripped & fell on her way out of the stage! :haha: :haha:

Have you seen how Robbie sat on Reto Staubli???? Mirka really found it funny.... :)

Roger is a wonderful guy - I'd love to see how he would have "fighted" against those "snowball-men" ;)

You guys are driving me mad :mad:I want to see Roger too :( :bigcry:

:wavey: all my friends here :) Haven't been around for quite some days. I have enjoyed my vacation already, being on a beach, warm and quiet, but had to catch cold when I got back :( and had been on work for some days with a bad cough :( poor me...

It seems like much has happened lately. Woooow, Ron and Mrs. B, you met with each other, how sweet of you!(I'm soooooo late, forgive me :p) Must be great experience talking about Roger and his tennis all your way long, Mrs.B

Today, I met some local Roger fans too, sitting in a fruit bar and kept talking and talking and talking, scaring other customers away from us :bolt::lol: Always great experience to meet with other Roger fans. Hope to meet some of you guys here in the next TMC :D

To whoever is going on a vacation or having a break, lsy and LCeh and Daniel and else, enjoy your holidays and break :D Me, have to fully go back to my work :fiery:

Sorry to hear that Ste

But I actually did go up the mountains today- I went to Schilthorn which is just south of Interlaken. It was really foggy all the way while driving from Zurich, and then just a few minutes before I arrived suddenly it cleared up. Visibility was excellent.

I went all the way up to the revolving restaurant at the top and the view was just spectacular!

Did you know they shot an old James Bond movie at this location while Sean Connery was still doing them?

NEway, it was a great expereince- I ate at the restaurant while it was revolving and got a peripheral view with a lovely meal- veal geschintzels Zurich style with noodles :lick:

P.S. Hello to u too Daniel :wavey:

Hello also to Mrs. B- how are you :wavey:
