Which was the best match of the Masters for you?

No brainer for me- that Fed-Saf semi was absolutely out of this world!!!

Federer-Safin.

Even if they played that tiebreak alone I would have voted for this match. The first set wasn't good, mainly because Safin blew the start, but the second set way very good. Basically that set alone is what get's my vote. I would have watched it rather any other match.

Yes Vass, Federer-Safin for sure!!!!

YES The semifinal Marat Safin-Roger Federer takes it all. :D :D

It is for me the BEST match I saw this year, although my favourite Marat Safin lost. ;) :)

Both players had great fighting spirit and they played on the highest level of tennis. In this match tennis was no longer a simply match, it was art. I'm bowing to those two great players.

Thank you Marat and thank you Roger for that great match. No one of you was a loser in this match but you were both winner, champions in fair play and friendship.

There were no adversors on the court, but there were two friends like these two pictures show :D :

Btw. the match in which moya took a set off Feder can also be included in the poll. Not that too many people will vote for it... I haven't seen it, but I'm somehow convinced that Safin gave a harder time to Fed. And fans were treated by better tennis.

Federer-Safin ........that tie break was unbelievable and will be repeated in rain delays for evermore!

I hope so! :D
This tiebreak was 26 minutes and 38 seconds long. This 20:18 had 38 games, 6 set points of Marat Safin and 7 match points of Roger Federer.

Since the tiebreak was intoduced there were only two other matches with 38 points: In Wimbledon 1973 the Indian Premjit Lall beat Björn Borg from Sweden with 6:3 6:4 9:8 (20:18) and in the US Open 1993 the Croatian Goran Ivanisevic won over the Canadian Daniel Nestor 6:4 7:6 (7:5) and 7:6 (20:18), both matches were in a first round!

roger vs marat....as many have stated that second-set alone was pure brilliance and then the tie-break.....wow! That was Rogers toughest match....in that he was playing well, very well....and still was in iminent danger of being pushed to three-sets.

Yeah, no fight... Federer vs Safin is way way sublime.
This semi-final was what everyone was expecting at the beginning of 2004 during the Australian Open final but the "real" Safin did not turn up then.
The whole world has to wait until year end for these 2 to match blow for blow.
But this titantic match did happened :hearts: and I really hope that we can get to see more of their match-ups next year!

Too bad that the great match consisted only of one set. First one could have been better. :) And Safin could have played a bit cleaner and could have taken the tiebreak to give us even a better match.

Fed vs Safin ~ The whole match was good. Safin didn't start off really well, but he got broken not because of his errors only, Federer truly deserved with those two beautiful winners. Then, they carried on in a better level. In the beginning of the second set, it was Federer's time to miss some really important shots, but he got himself together and broke Safin back and then we had that amazing tie-break! So, my vote goes to this match. But Hewitt vs Roddick was so fun to watch.

Well, JesusFed was just :worship: :worship: in the 1st set so I wouldn't say the match consisted of only 1 set. But I agree - the 3rd set and less oafish moments from Marat on TB would have made it a really awesome match.

I thought Roddick-Safin was slightly more exciting than Federer-Safin because, although the second set of Federer-Safin was sheer brilliance, I never felt there was any doubt that Federer would win.

OTOH, I felt much more doubt as to the outcome during the Roddick-Safin match -- especially during the latter stages of their second set.

aside from this is the only match i was able to watch live on tv, this is the best match by far that shows talent and sheer determination to win. The degree of sportsmanship shown by both players specially fed'd was very admirable!

I have never heard Roger Federer speak German before so here is a video clip from EuroSport of Fed showing us his room in Houston. Click on the one that says Federer's apartment.

Well I've only seen 3, the finals, and the 2 RR matches of roddick/safin and moya/hewitt. Out of these 3, the Roddick/Safin match was the best so I vote for that. If I had the chance to see the Federer/Safin match, I'm sure I would be voting differently.;)

3. Federer/Moya
4. Roddick/Safin

You are right to be surprised! I am guessing alot of people didn't get to see the Roddick v Henman match. The Federer v Safin match had one great set of tennis which was awesome, but the Roddick v Henman match was high quality for two sets with both guys playing amazing tennis.

I am still leaning towards the Federer v Safin match becuase of the TB and because it was a SF. But that other match should be at least in the top 3 of the tournament.

it's also written in a croatian sports magazine: too bad that only one of them could reach into final. even tennis can be not fair sometimes.
