Surely it's the job of the rain gods to make it rain - so they must be happy there's no American - like the rest of the world ;)

 at the idea of the final maybe not being able to be played for a few DAYS. :( But at least this is the last tournament of the year, and neither of them are involved in the Davis Cup final, so even if it does run on, it's not a problem for either player's schedule. But still, I hope the weather clears up sooner rather than later.

Will the players actually have to hang around until Wednesday?
Some tournaments just don't play the final & declare both players
as co-champions.
Of course, then there will be issues of how to divide the prize money &
the ranking points.

There doesn't look to be any give in that radar pattern.

Heavy thunderstorms are forcast right throught the night. The way it rains in Houston, I don't have many hopes for having tennis played today.

I remember a Hingis-Davenport final in 2000 at Scottsdale, i think
They both received runner-up prize and points. But this time i think JesusFed and Potato will have to wait. There's nothing waiting for them

This is looking bad... Here is the update from Eurosport:

There are a few options open to the tournament directors - reduce the final to a best-of-three sets encounter; return at 11am (local time) on Monday; or thirdly, an option which doesn't bare thinking with two of the world's top players competing, split the title, ranking points and prize money!

Shouldn't they have picked a venue with a roof or indoor?

Yes, they should have. In fact, last year I Emailed Westside Tennis Club,
asking them if they had considered constructing a retractable roof over
the center court stadium. The tournament director said it was too
expensive.

Probably alot of out-of-state & even out-of-country fans have airline
reservations for Monday & tournament organizers want fans to get their
money's worth.
If the match gets under way at 10:00 P.M. or so local time, has anyone
heard if ESPN will telecast it live?

In the (unlikely) event that they decide to split the ranking points, who will end up year-end No. 2, Roddick or Hewitt?

pffft! In England they just have little weak rain. In Houston the rain is more determined. :p

Like I've said before, rain in Houston reaches biblical proportions. It can rain for weeks at a time, not just days at a time. It's like the tropics.

I don't remember an April where it ever rained all month long. I think fans in Houston are pretty aware that it rains a lot. That's why they built the dome for baseball. It's simply a fact of life for Houston. I was worried the first year they held this event for fear it might rain like crazy, but it worked out pretty well. They pretty much escaped disaster this year too.

Now people are beginning to see why the builders wanted a 7 inch slope to the court.

The final gives 50 points I believe, so it would be 25 to each, which means Lleyton would take over the no. 2 spot.

That might be ok with Lleyton. I don't know how satisfactory that is to the ATP though.

Shared custody, like kids. Lleyton gets it on weekends, two weeks during the summer, and Christmas, and Roger gets it during the weeks. They jointly pay for polishing.

I don't know if that would be satisfactory to Roger, since if he got to play
the final & won, he ends up as undefeated for the entire tournament.
Then the rules say he gets double the ranking points & a huge money bonus.
Ranking points he could pick up in Houston will affect his seeding at tournaments for a very long time.
