This is a harbinger of things to come. I believe a rivalry can be developed between the two - even though both did not play their best, they played at the same level consistently. However, Safin needs to play like this consistently, and I, as a Federer fan, wish him a good 2005. He did a very good job in this Masters Cup and this year, to come back from injury to #4.

However, I don't think we can decide anything yet; we need to see results next year...

The best tiebreaker I've seen in ages, great shots by both players, unforced errors in key moments, bad calls for both players. it had everything

Kudos Roger

well done Marat

Was it really?

I don't know, I didn't see it - just saw the live scores from the Masters Cup site. Well, 20-18, I mean, it definitely seemed like a great tiebreak!

:worship: to Rogi, but in no way invincible- Marat really had him under the cosh for large portions of that 2nd set. Not even Rogi's incredible defensive skills were always enough but he weathered the storm somehow- that is what makes him the great player that he is!

And total awe for Marat too- the way he really kept his head together. He was like a brick wall out there and then changed into bulldozer mode when he needed to.

they're showing it right now

the dquality of this match is what we want in our GS finals --this is nothing like the Ausopen. This is phenomenal tennis -- Marat is playing superbly, Rogi is playhing superbly, just fabulous.
It is not pure bashing/pure finesse -- there's the full repertoire on both sides, with Roger having a slightly bigger repertoire over all
