I just hope it's a good quality entertaining match. a third set TB would be nice ;) Its kinda sucky that Roger had a whole day off and Marat had to play at night and they play tomorrow afternoon, but what can ya do.

Marats always tired when he plays Roger, what a coincidence.

I was hoping this could be the final instead because both of them have started this year at AO and fittingly should end it in the last final of this year.

But then, a semi-final is still good enough.. :)

Can't really go against a Federer win but I would love Marat to prove me wrong. ;)

RogiFan88
11-20-2004, 03:37 AM
well, Rogi had to play v. Hewitt and Moya in less than 24 hrs also, so they are even... it's all a ploy to favour Pandy anyway, so what's the diff?

I just want a good competitive match fr the 2 most talented guys on the tour now!

I want to ignore the result of this match, but not cos I want Andy to win, just cos only I need is a perfect match.
I still want it to be the final. that would be outstanding. now, nothing changes, just a final comes earlier than I imagine. ;)

Asked Marat in the press conference what he and coach Peter Lundgren were going to bring to the table to successfully take out Federer in the semis.
He said, "It's quite difficult to do something special against him because he is the one controlling the game and he is doing really well. He is very far from all of us the way he played this year, so it's tough to compete against him. It's going to be really tough. You have to wait for small chances and try to be confident. I have nothing to lose, i secured my no.4 in the world....so i don't really have much pressure, so also it's a good sign.I will try to go for it."
Q: But your coach who is Federer's ex-coach will give some special strategy to try and beat him?
"As i said it is very difficult to bring something to the table and like discuss it and make a special plan for it. I've played him many times, i know how to play against him, but the way he is playing right now and the confidence he has makes it very difficult to beat him this way or other way. It's going to be really tough. Just have to wait for mistakes and any opportunities that he will give you. The plan is always the same. It's not going to change. I played him 6 times. Whatever comes, comes. Just need to be a little bit more lucky. Yeah, a little bit of luck would be great for tomorrow."

Sounds like Marat really does need some speacial input from Lundgren, doesn't seem like he has a chance if he is simply going to wait for mistakes. Time to hold conference boys. :secret:

If Marat oafs the way he did against Andy Roger is going to lap him up.

If, however he shows the mental resolve and steadiness he has shown of late then it can be really close.

Also depends on how Roger is feeling- will he raise his game and come out focused, or will he have an off day like he did against Carlos.

I'm hoping at leeast for a 3 setter match. Hopefully Marat wins but the way he is talking in the press conference... Marat you can't wait for mistakes ! You should have a more clever tactic to play. !
Anyways, I wish both players play their best tennis and we'll see what happens ;)

Marat seems to be in a very low tune towards that match, which to me is a great tactic. I hope Roger won't let his words get into him too much to put himself really in that higher place.

And I don't think Peter will be that big a factor involving in Marat's play against Roger if Roger simply puts a normal performance. We all can tell what's the relative weak link in Roger's game, but it's always way tougher done than said.

Can't go against Federer, he'll probably beat the crap out of Marat. He just seems to raise his game for the really big matches, that's why he hasn't been beaten by a top player all year.

You ALWAYS have a chance in a match so there's nothing wrong with the fact that some people think Marat can win. Whether that chance is big or not is a whole different issue though.

 Of course he has a chance, anything can happen. He may not have much of a chance, but that is completely different to no chance. It would hardly be the biggest shock in sport if Marat was to win.

I just hope Marat can put up a good fight, it'll be tough but he's got a shot.
