Chat with Matias Boeker

11-18-2004, 07:18 PM has a feature up about athletes on the fringe of their profession. Included in this is a feature on American player Matias Boeker. I found it to be pretty interesting. They are also doing a chat this afternoon at 430 EST.

He answered my question:

Martijn, The Netherlands: Do you think your best chance for a good future lies in singles only, in doubles only or in a combination?

Matias Boeker: (4:52 PM ET ) Combination. I want to try singles first because that is my main interest. But I would give doubles a shot.

Bah. I want him to be a doubles specialist so I can root for him :silly: ;)

He answered my question too. I asked him about marketing tennis in the United States - he had a well thought out answer. (I can't access it now, looks like the full transcript is locked, but I was T.F. from Washington)

I liked that chat, he answered a lot of questions. I also thought it was funny that some of his friends came on to make fun of him.

I also like how he went right out to the courts to practice after the chat. Now there is a dedicated player.
