France v. US Altercation!!!!! Anybody hear about this one?

or did i miss the boat already. Not to start a swarm of gossip or rumours, but it was in a freaking french tennis magazine. It said that after Nicolas Mahut and Julien Benneteau beat the Bryan Bros at the US Open, that they met up at a restaurant or something, and that there was an altercation. But that now it was water under the bridge. Anybody know about this? who do you root for anyway?

You at it again Frog? I mean some of the American players must have a problem with Benneteau. I know there was definite heat between Fish and Julien. When Fish said to him " you are one of the worst players on tour, and I will never lose to you again" at the after match handshake.

As for the second part of the answer I wouldn't be going for the Bryan brothers.

At it again? anyway, i had no idea there was friction. Fish is probably my favourite male player so i suppose if Fish doesnt like Benneteau, i suppose i side with Fish.

does anyone know about the altercation though?

Yeah, Fish is one great guy saying something like that to someone at the after match handshake, especially after losing to them.

As for the altercation I can find out eventually.

Fish is funny. he seems cool, like a surfer dude with a tennis raquet. he makes hi tech sounds when he plays, so hes gotta be cool. Benneteau seems very nice though. he was hanging with the kids at RG last year with Julien, and he seemed very friendly

I hadn't heard about this, but if only because I like Mahut and the Bryan brothers chest bumping creeps me out, I hope the Frenchies kicked some ass ;)

btw, FB, I like Fish too, but that has to be one of the most shitheaded things that anybody has ever said after a match.

I dont even know fish, i dont have cable. ive seen him at RG and recently at Bercy, otherwise its his hair and his California style that i appreciate. i dont like rude comments like that. i read in french tennis magazine "court Central" that Mahut and Benneteau said there was an altercation. not trying to stir up trouble, but if its in a magazine than at least 10,000 or more or whoever reads it, knows about it. anyone know what happened?

I agree that what Mardy said that day was pretty classless, but a number of the guys have said stupid things to each other in the heat of the moment immediately after a match (see Gambill-MacPhie argument after a doubles match in 2003, but they are pretty good friends). Most of the guys find the time to work it out at some point.

Mardy is not from California and he does not possess 'California style' whatever that is. I live in the state and I don't even know what it is. Please don't believe everything you read in a magazine. They exist to make money, not out of some altruistic desire to tell people the absolute truth.

Mardy comments are from "l'equipe", a very respected sport newspaper. This newspaper doesn't use to write gossips etc...that's why I believed this anecdot.

Yes, players use to say stupid things during a match when they're losing, but they criticize theirself, or the empire, not their opponent. I don't think lots players humble another player on a court.

Remind me to run far, far away any time I'm near the Bryan brothers....

"Ok, first the reason Jan-Mike is in a box. We were talking on instant messenger one day and decided that a hot tennis player would make a great package (MAIL, people!). So, Xavier was getting sent to the US from Belgium and Jan-Mike was being sent to Belgium...part of the hot tennis player exchange program! Obviously, in order to ship a tennis player, you need a box. We assumed they wouldn't go willingly, but that was part of the fun...getting them in the box. Ha ha!

Anyway, so the box (to mail the hotties in) became a party box as we added more and more hot tennis players that needed to be sent somewhere. For some reason Jan-Mike was a staple in the box! LOL We think he liked the box. So that's why we have a Jan-Mike in a box emoticon.

Now, Ham-Mike...well, let's just say some of us can't type so good. Typos can really cause havok when you're on instant messenger. So yeah, Jan-Mike became Ham-Mike...which made us laugh hysterically when we realized that Ham might come in a box...so Ham-Mike in a box ALMOST made sense. Ham-Mike stuck and he will be known that way forever and we'll think of boxes whenever he's mentioned.

WOW, this is one crazy story. Now that everyone thinks we're insane...hope you enjoyed it."

He's pretty much east coast Floridian in his behaviour....not like I am biased, though, since we west-coast Floridians are a much kinder and gentler breed.

Mardy's just jealous that Julien is prettier than he. :p

Let me clarify. Yes, I believe that Mardy said what he said after that match. I've seen and been told players do things like that from time to time (and I have a vague memory from my youth of Connors letting loose on McEnroe one Super Saturday at the USO ages ago). It's other parts of the story that I doubt.

Swiss Mister - that story you have is not from the Bryans, its from the women who run their website. They seem to be pretty cool, from my experiences with them, and obviously, they have a sense of humor.

Following up on that, I think it means that he looks like he should be on the OC, the TV show. (which I love...sorry! Guilty pleasure!)

He's not from Florida. He's from Minnesota or Michigan or some cold place like that. He lives in Florida now, but he's not floridan.

I think Frogburger was simply saying that he looked like a california surfer dude and he kind of does look like that.

Thank YOU STAR, You understood what i meant. He definitely looks like a beach guy, and if he sucked at tennis, he's got a totally awesome look to be a beach bum or surfer dude. Thats what i meant, i have no idea where he comes from. Of course, looks can be deceiving.

FYI, the vast majority of people living in the state of Florida are not "originally" from Florida, but are still referred to as Floridians...Florida natives are actually referred to as "crackers," while those born and raised in the Florida Keys have the distinctive right to call themselves "conchs."

So nobody is in the wrong here. I was not raised here, but have domicile here and hence, I am a Floridian.
