Lukas starts his 2013 campaign in Doha. It is a good decision, he played there already in 2010 (famous Nadal bagel). In 2011 he lost there in qualification, but now he is around Top 50 and he can choose which tornaments he want to enter.
He hasn´t committed to Auckland or Sydney either so this is still a question where he wants to play a week before AO. It may depends on how well will he do in Doha, but for his own good I would advice him to play Sydney. Maybe there would be a tougher field than in Auckland, but it is not so far from Melbourne.
Last year, qualification tournament in Melbourne helped him find his game and this could help too. As he would be in MD for sure, he really should enter here. After that Australian Open, of course and then Davis Cup in Ukraine.
It is 99,9% certain that he would go to Zagreb after that, where he defends a final and he will probably stay in Europe for tournaments like Rotterdam or Marseille. But yes, there is an opportunity to go to San José and Memphis as well, he did good there too in last years. So as I said, advantage of his ranking now is that he can choose a tournaments where he want to play.
Of course, he is defending 115 points from AO, 150 from Zagreb and 65 from Dubai which is total 330 points to defend until March. It is a big amount of points so he has to pick tournaments very properly.
- Sydney (not sure yet, but he should go there imo)
- Australian Open
- Davis Cup at Ukraine
So here is how it may look so far.

Seems Lacko changed Sydney for Auckland, via Tennis Alternative.
So Auckland in 2nd week of season.

Here is what may look like his schedule after Australian Open.
- Davis Cup @ Ukraine
- Zagreb (defending a final)
- Indian Wells
- Dallas-2 CH (or any CH between IW & Miami)
My advice to him would be somewhat different. I think San Jose and Memphis are better choice for him after Zagreb tournament.
But he liked Dubai last year (who wouldn´t ?) and he will probably play there. With that - Marseille (IH) is better choice and maybe even Rotterdam (after Zagreb) but that would be probably too much tennis in a row.
If he wasn´t that succesfull, Le Gosier CH after Miami is still an option but it also depends whether Slovakia will play 2nd round of Davis Cup against Sweden (at home) - if they beat Ukraine.

Lacko made an early commitment to Heilbronn CH (second week of Australian Open).
It´s all about points right now, as he is defending 330 points till Dubai.

Lacko signed in Rotterdam, so now his schedule from now looks different :
- Australian Open
- Heilbronn CH (in case he loses early in Australia)
- Davis Cup in Ukraine
He might then take week off, but considering strong field in Rotterdam, maybe he should enter Marseille week after, but it may be wiser to take week off.
- Marseille (only if needed to)
- Indian Wells
- Dallas CH (if he loses early in IW)

So, to my suprise, Lacko signed in also in that "Marseille week".
Not in Marseille, but in Memphis, which is quite surprising. He has a good record in Memphis as far I remember, he reached QF in 2010 and in 2011 played great R2 match vs. Fish, lost in 3rd set tiebreak. Field isn´t that strong, so he has a shot there. Nice and surprising move to go to Memphis I guess :)

Lacko retired from Zagreb R1 match, then withdrew from Rotterdam, Memphis and Delray Beach. Due to his own words, his return is planned in Indian Wells.
So far his tournament plan looks like this : Indian Wells - Dallas2 CH - Miami - Le Gosier CH. He will lost 65 points next week and is defending 50 points from Dallas and Miami together. Not that much he should be worried about.
Clay season is the worst for Lacko, only good news is he isn't defending anything, he was 0-5 last year. Another good news is that except grass season (17 pts from Nottingam, 20 from Halle and 90 Wimbledon) he has 0 points to defend until October ! After Dubai he will fall to somewhere around 80th place but good news is he can only climb up after that though. Real goal should be place in top 50, maybe even higher till October.
His schedule during clay season should include hardcourt challengers imo, at least one or two from Guadalajara, Johannesburg, Kun-Ming or Busan really. We will see, because he should make most of the fact he isn't defending anything.

Didn't see that he withdrew all these tournaments. He is/was still injured ?
03-28-2013, 09:50 PM
Yes he had injured back, now he is trying to get some rhythm after month out.
He is signed in Saint Brieuc CH after Le Gosier. Indoor hard.
And no clay tournaments whatsoever so far in his schedule.
04-05-2013, 02:45 PM
Lukas said he started to feel back pain again so he signed out of Saint Brieuc just to be sure everything is ok. And his next tournament schedule is :
Johannesburg CH - Kun Ming CH - Busan CH - training on clay for a week - Roland Garros.
Also he said he will be playing in Halle after Roland Garros, don't now if he also want to appear in Nottingham CH yet.
