No, Alberto Tomba was an Alpine skiier, he skiied downhill and slalom events.

I'm Austrian, so I'm cheering for my countrymen (as always ... I'm patriotic *lol)!! :) My favourite ski jumper is Reinhard Schwarzenberger (since almost ten years), but I don't mind any Austrian winning ... *lol* *looks at her Austrian flag hanging on the wall*

But I like some finnish, norwegian and german jumpers as well (German: everyone except of Mechler, Hannawald and Schmitt). Also the Swiss guys are cool! They are so nice, esp. Simon Ammann! :D And I respect the Dutch guys for participating (I have a little faible for Dutch guys ... :aplot: )! :worship: ;)

Have been to four competitions in January last season, I LOVE going there and watching it live! It's just fantastic!

You really have to, Sandra! It's abolutely fantastic to watch! The atmosphere can't be gotten from TV!

It's really impressive how steep such a hill is! I was in the stadium at Liberec and tried to climb it up! Almost impossible! And me and my friend walked up onto the jump in Brotterode, we were right there where the jumpers put on their ski. That's a view from up there! A bit :scared: but :yeah: *sighs* Memories ... :rolleyes:

You're right about Liegl. If you ask him something at the wrong time he can be really angry. Yeah, he can be very unfriendly.

Always hope for Widhölzl, if he starts good there is much possible. Think Thomas or Hölli, but it will be hard this season. The new coach will be fast with putting jumpers into the Continental Cup, so we'll see.

I think taht Thomas has the best shot of the all!!I hope it won't happen the same thing wit him as wit Liegl!!!

I was a huge fan of this sport in the nineties because of the japanese jumpers but since they almost all collapsed because of the new ski length rule Im not into this sport anymore...

Yeah, the older generation was really great! The good old times ... *sigh* I watched a video of 1999 recently, and it was great to see all the guys who aren't active anymore. :)

Ahonen is really AOWOWSOME!!! :eek:

Yeah, like Schmitt or not, but you really have to give credit to him for his stamina and staying power that he stayed around the entire last season (where he totally sucked and was often 50 places away from where he has been) and the he didn't quit this season. He said he loves the sport just too much and that results aren't everything for him.
That's really an honourable thinking, it must be tough if you can't even qualify for main events so many times and formerly you have been dominating them all winning virtually everything that is possible.

wasn't qualified? yeah, it's Romøren and it's 2004/2005 season. He's only #18 now... but let's hope for the future. Do you also enjoy that NOR company? ;)

I like all the norvegians...but i like most romoeren...a few weeks ago he was 15th....and as soon he was 16th he wasn't qualified for the last 2 stations..
...now he is practicing at home...

Their overalls have a special cut and its legs has some kind of clip which drags overall from the body. And this makes a bigger carrying surface of the overall.

For example Morgi and Widhoelzl had it in quali for Sunday Willingen. It´s just a question if somebody else and when had it.....coz when they open the clip the overall cames to ruling format and nobody notices.... :mad:

Sandra I´m sorry to say that but FIS said that Morgi and Widhoelzl did it in quali and they were disqualified - no big deal for them as they are pre-qualified anyway. But I simply can´t understand why they did it in quali...it´s not too fair. :(

Ok...this is kinda off topic but I have changed my mind...I am noe happy that Thomas didnt win in Bad Mitendorf cause I will be happier when he will beat even Janne.
And now before the next copmetition I wanna tell everyone how I started wathching ski-jumping cause I happened in Bad Mitendorf 2003 when I first saw Liegl he jumped 208 m in the first leg and then 106 and he finnished first :woohoo:I want him back as he was!!!

And now before the next copmetition I wanna tell everyone how I started wathching ski-jumping cause I happened in Bad Mitendorf 2003 when I first saw Liegl he jumped 208 m in the first leg and then 106 and he finnished first :woohoo:I want him back as he was!!!

I saw the comp yesterday and I was so happy after the first leg,but when i saw Morgi jumping so badly in the second leg I bursted in tears!!!!!!!!I felt so sorry for him.I never cried aty a ski-jumping competition...but now I was devastaded!!!!:sad::bigcry:

Anyway about Morgi - seemed it also had to do with nerves. You know being first by only 0.1 point after first round and seeing Janne and Janda doing very good jumps - it can make EVERYBODY feeling nervous.

I must say that it´s been a while since I could be proud of a Czech ski jumper. I had to wait 11 years for a Czech victory so Sandra, don´t be too sad. It´s defo sure that Morgi will win sooner and you won´t have to wait that long!!!! :)

Yeah Sapporo is the host of 2007 World Championship so that means they´ll defo get a term next year...strange that Titisee-Neustadt won´t. :( At least, if Sapporo must be in, they should put it at the beginning or at the end of the tour, not two weeks before World Championship. Late last night we came back from Oberstdorf. It was such a crazy day. We arrived there at 9am, and, as we had plenty of time, we decided to go snowboarding first and afterwards get some tickets for the competition. We'd made up our mind about the prices. Snow was great btw. ... at least until I sprained my ankle... ouch... :sad: So up to the hospital, nothing's broken, how lucky. I could leave the hospital, thank God, but unfortunately couldn't stand on my foot, because it hurt so bad. Therefore, no chance of watching the competition live in the stadium, cause the prices for seats are really way to high. :bigcry:

Instead, we watched the whole thing in a bar, they had a video-wall, it was fun, we met some Norwegian cross-country skiing fans. Hell, those blockheads drank a lot... :lol:

The competition was more of a joke, I thought. The wind conditions were just too unpredictable, but I was happy 'cause Roar didn't gain a medal, and that was all I was asking for, you know the reasons. Oh, I am so mean, today. :devil: Anyway, I was glad for Rok, what a nice surprise for him and especially his coach Matjas Zupan. You probably know the background. And I'm happy for Janne to win a medal once again. :D

In the evening we met some cross-country skiers as well. I talked to Lars Berger, he's such a funny guy and his German is pretty well. His mom teaches German he told me, that might be one reason.

Well, in the end the day didn't take the planned course but nevertheless I had a lot of fun and if you get the chance to talk to Lars Berger, please do, I almost killed myself laughing. :haha:
