The "Hair, Abs, Modelling and NO MORE 1st round losses " Chat thread

As the professional season is over, we will probably get bored as there is no more cheering to do. So, we should chat a bit to get to know each other better. :)
So let's continue the subject from the Paris-Bercy thread. It is outrageous: the players get completely exhausted physically and mentally at the end of the season and they don't even have 1 full month for relaxing. :(

(Winter thread for you but Summer thread for us in the Southern Hemisphere!!! http://www.mainzelahr.de/smile/party/dance01.gif )

oh...if I had known I'd have posted my last message in the Paris thread here instead. Anyway yeah...it's really gay I think...doesn't do anything to decrease injuries etc. The players will be tired before they even start the new season! I'm soooo excited about the Aussie tennis season though...cannot wait...will definitely take some pics for you guys! http://www.mainzelahr.de/smile/party/foto.gif

Oh well...but for most of them the tour season ends with Paris, no?...it's like only exhibits now and maybe some other (spanish masters?),and they can always skip those, isnt it?.....its not like there are tourneys anymore....so I guess till end of december is holidays....Im sure they would love it be loooonger tho;).....but yeah, the long season must be so amusing only for us the spectators.....
Hey Emilita pix are always so appreciated;)

well it looks like Feli is definitely going to play the Spanish team championship in Chamartín (Madrid) starting today. He'll play for the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona...I think they get a bye so they only have to play tomorrow and Saturday. Rafa is also in the team.

Here's an article about the tournament...I've translated it below. It's from a few days ago and since then I've found out that Tommy Robredo is not going. I also don't think Ferrero will be there...

The majorcan Rafael Nadal, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Tommy Robredo or Feliciano López are some of the early commitments of the 35th Spanish Tennis Team Championship which will be held from the 11th to the 13th of November in the Chamartín Tennis Club in Madrid. The main raquets (meaning stars) of Spanish tennis have their names down for their respective teams on the initial player list although the organisers anticipate the absence of one of them due to professional commitments. It's the case of Carlos Moyà, included in the connection with the Royal Tennis Club of Barcelona, who will already have started his preparation for the Masters Cup in Houston. Apart from Moyà, Robredo, López, Nadal, Albert Costa, Albert Montañés, Galo Blanco or Felix Mantilla are some of the players who will comprise the group of 12 players called on by Albert Molina López, the most honoured team captain in the history of the tournament - winner on 25 occasions - and real champion.

Oscar Hernández and Albert Portas of the Barcino club, Ferrero, David Sánchez and David Ferrer of the Valencia club, Alberto Martín and Alex Corretja of the La Salut club or Fernando Verdasco of the Chamartín club are some of those already down to play for their respective clubs, great initial drawcards for the tournament. The 8 best teams in Spain are seeking one of the most prestigious titles in Spanish tennis. The knockout round, which commences with the quarter finals are going to be played as a best of 9 encounters, 6 singles and 3 doubles on clay. "For sure it's certain that not everyone who's down to play will be at the tournament, but there will still be a significant number. I don't know what percentage, but definitely one sufficient enough to have a great competition which will have good quality matches with top class players" explained the technical director of the tournament, Jorge Amilibia.

11-13-2004, 04:36 AM
well turns out Feli actually did play...the oop I gave you was actually for Thursday (sorry!). Yesterday he played against Verdasco and lost (I think...the scores are a bit weird to read) 3-6 4-6

he also played doubles with Marc Lopez against Verdasco/Rascon but there's no score for the match. There's also no oop for today :(

here are 2 photos from his match against Nando:

User id 7816
11-13-2004, 10:16 AM
aww he lost to Nando haha, oh well but they still made it to the final I see, maybe they didn't play the doubles bcoz they had qualified for the final, and they play with C.T.Barcino...which is also the final from last year, haha maybe these 2 have subscribed for it;).....so I guess Feli will play today and win! :bounce:

~EMiLiTA~
11-13-2004, 11:12 AM
ah yeah I think you're right...that's probably the reason why they didn't play the doubles. Must've been funny for Feli and Nando to play against each other both in the singles and doubles!

User id 7816
11-13-2004, 11:55 PM
So they won!:bounce:....Feli beat O.Hernandez 76 63 and Nadal and Costa won too. Their club won 5-2 in the matches, so I guess that's why Feli didn't need to play the doubles again today...ah!!...looking forward to some pix from today...well doone guys :yeah:

Some excerpts from a Spanish article...basically saying that tomorrow, Feli's going to be getting an award in Barcelona for being part of the winning Davis Cup team for 2004 (cos he was part of the team in Brno) and same for Beto Martín (even though he did jackshit lol)

Hmmm.... doesn't really say. It's a big article honoring those who achieved big things in 2004, from firemen to tennisplayers  Lots of different people in different occupations. It looks like the put them all in a big museum or something and took pix in different rooms.

Carlita

Yep, makes a change from the other guys! ;) I would honour them all! hahaha! For Davis Cup, going up on the rankings, for winning their titles this year, for just being a strong bunch! :worship:

What made them choose Feli I wonder?!

I also wonder...cos Carlos and Tommy did better than him...and Nando improved heaps too...but I guess Feli also had a great year...just seems like a random choice!

hey guys...remember the mysterious Torrejón exhibition match between Feli and Fer that was played on Dec 19 and that we didn't hear anything about? Well, mystery solved: it was just like a fun "match"...first to 9 games and Feli won in the tie-break...so yay for Feli!

I saw it. Amazing movie.Natalie Portman played really good. I saw it in original (in english), I would say it is the best, because in this film through the translation some things might be going lost :)

they probably dont realise they'll get much more people watching if they show tennis instead of curling or womens handball :o i know they need to have different sports but there's too little mens tennis compared to the sports u mentioned, talk about blindness

They just buy the things that are cheap. No one watch curling or snooker, but it don't cost much money to buy a tournament. Tennis is expensive, and if the sport is not so polular in the country(like in Germany), they think it's not worth to buy the translation rights

Oh, Iza, he's sweet...he'll do better. I'm watching the replay right now, and he looks good (not the tennis, the looks). Too bad they made him change his shirt cuz he really looked good in the first Nike shirt he wore out.

And I posted this on Fer's board also so sorry if its a repeat if you read it there - but like the hair cut now. I loved his hair long, but he looks cool with the headband and his hair done. He just can't cut it shorter, don't want it any shorter than he has it now.

they made him change his shirt?

they made him change his shirt?

He warmed up in a black Nike sleeveless shirt with a big check in the front and with NIKE (I think it said NIKE - they didn't show it well but I would assume...) in BIG white letters in the back.

He said that he had it pre-approved to wear, but the tournament guy came and said he couldn't wear it.

So he changed into the Nike orange sleeveless like Rafa always wears.

Too bad...he looks quite sexy in black... ;) And with the black headband, it just looked nice.

~EMiLiTA~
05-03-2005, 12:15 PM
but what does it matter? it was nike after all! or is it not designed to be worn during actual matches??

btw great thread title Iza! :yeah:

NicoFan
05-03-2005, 12:36 PM
I think it was because the lettering on the back was big.

You know men's tennis...everything is conservative. I'm actually surprised they allow the sleeveless shirts and the pants Rafa wears.

And it was quite nice that the cameras showed him changing from one shirt to the other...the ladies in the audience enjoyed it too. ;) The announcer said something like...maybe that was the point of wearing a shirt out that he knew he wouldn't be able to wear...lol!
