MAD!!!!

Why on earth is he playing that challenger event in Bratislava when he is ranked #13???? Did he take the wrong turn home or something? :) Rest Dominik, rest your tired feet!

No wonder the players are getting injured - and they have the cheek to complain that it is the schedule's fault!!!

ive never heard of Dominic complaining about it.

A lot of top players play their home town's challenger, especially if there is no ATP level event there. Schalken, Novak, Stepanek and Volandri spring to mind

He's not going to get a chance to play in MC, so he is making some extra cash and a little more entry ranking. I don't know if its possible, but I think he is probably upset about Canas overtaking him in the rankings-I don't know, there is a possibility that I correct, right?

I don't know whether Bratislava is Dominik's hometown or not - but if it is, I guess he felt it would be a nice gesture to play in front of his own people, and might bring some extra money and exposure to the tournament and to tennis in his own country. If that is the case - I think it's a lovely gesture - and congrats to him.

Bratislava is Dominik's hometown and he is probably putting off his off-season training and I wouldn't worry about him playing too much, the guy is a fitness fanatic.

It's great that he is playing there and it's not like Slovakia gets many tournaments and good for him that the people can see him play at home.

Hrbaty has made 700000 just from singles prize money this year, plenty more if you count endorsements and doubles.

I am certain he is playing Bratislava with a top money prize of $4000 for because he is short of cash.

He's playing it because he needs to buy a new Skoda.

Blava has some of the best looking girls on the planet, and the former president of Slovakia is a fan of tennis and friend of Hrbaty's and kudos to the fact that he is playing at home.

Yep I agree its the same as Federer entering the tournament in Switzerland straight after Wimbledon. Hrbaty is the best Slovak player going as well.

Well...kind of but the only thing is Federer's tourny was an ATP one with points and big prize money. Hrbaty's - won't improve his ranking and winner's cheque of £4,000! Bit of a difference though! Still, it is nice for the Slovak people to see him playing at home.

Maybe its just a nice wind down to the season for him as well? I think its a very good effort by him to play in a lesser tournament that means pittance to him ranking and money wise to play in front of his home crowd! Well done Dominik! :D

The only thing that would upset me about that though is that he is taking away what could be gained by players trying to scrape enough money together to play another week of the tour. Other than that it is a nice gesture.

So a player ranked in the top 20 is allowed to play a challenger  when somebody who needs the points a lot more will be unable to play due to him being there

 :o at Hrbaty

And  :o at any other player ranked in the top 50 playing challengers

Yea, like he's clearly doing it to spite his peers.

Every tournament needs a crowd puller and Im sure Hrbaty's involvement will bring plenty of extra bums on seats and thus increase the status of the tournament.

sure not for entry points
his best 18th is 110 and the most he can win for a title here is 90
