Didn't realise the other Slovene Žemlja didn't have his own thread. He deserved one before and soon he will be highest ranked Slovenian male. He is having his best year winning 3 Challengers, getting a wildcard to Wimbledon as well.
First man from Slovenia to make the 3rd round of a Slam at the US Open after coming through qualies.
He owns Kavčič 6-0 and Aljaž Bedene 5-0.

The man who doesn't smile.
I like how he turned his results around after not passing round 2 of any tournament in the first half of the year. He's got a great chance to get inside the top 50 in the next 8 months, only defending 2 challengers finals.
09-13-2012, 05:47 PM
He's smiling here.:p
09-13-2012, 05:47 PM
I have said this before he has more talent than Blaž, but never had his work ethic.
He can play on all surfaces, but he always looks asleep and doesn't want to move his feet. Maybe Ziga found the magic formula.
09-13-2012, 05:52 PM
He's still working with Janskovec? I thought he's having the same coach as Bedene.
09-13-2012, 06:06 PM
If he's not then Ziga has more time for poker. Fucking joke the federation have 3 top 100 guys and they couldn't organise the Challenger this season.
09-13-2012, 07:40 PM
I have no idea who's coaching Zemlja to be honest. The last news regarding his coaching status was that he's training in Vienna with Eschauer&Berger and Co. But that was a year ago.
Not too long ago I found Zemlja's online poker account, too. You must've seen it already, I guess.
09-13-2012, 07:45 PM
He is still working with Ziga. They were together this year at the Aus Open and he came back with him after working with David Lenar.

And as for the Challenger in Ljubljana - the 3 best Slos are now above that level and I don't see a good reason for any of them to even play a clay court challenger in the middle of September.
There are rumours, though, that Portoroz might organize an ATP Challenger next year, likely to be played in May.
09-14-2012, 07:20 AM
Slovenia should still have a Challenger and it would be good for the younger guys as well. It's not like they stop Challengers in other countries cause of that reason.
Considering they're playing better now then they'd get better crowds which weren't bad by Slovenian standards.

Grega beats clown Beck for the 3rd time this year 7-5 6-3 and has a big chance for the final against Mannarino or Menendez.
09-18-2012, 01:10 PM
Grega up to number 70 and takes down Lacko in straight sets at St. Petersburg.
09-29-2012, 03:36 PM
It's Grega's birthday today and he defeated Hernych in 3 sets in Beijing qualies.
10-15-2012, 01:41 PM
Good to see Grega qualified for main draw in Vienna.
10-16-2012, 05:02 PM
Qualifies for Vienna and beats Malisse in the 1st round.
10-20-2012, 06:21 PM
He is in the final first ever win over a top 10 player in Tipsarevic who was being a dick as per usual.
10-20-2012, 06:44 PM
I couldn't stop smiling throughout that final set. Even more so when Tipsarevic's faking an injury eventually turned out to be in vain.
Simply outstanding week for him.
10-20-2012, 07:41 PM
So happy for him and for Slovenia. Their players are all so likeable. :hearts:
10-20-2012, 07:45 PM
Just realised he celebrates his birthday one day before me!
Great to see him in the final and fulfilling his potential.
10-21-2012, 07:24 PM
Such a shame he gave away that break in the first set that easily, would've been great for his confidence to at least take a set in the final.
Now don't suck in those few challengers left this year.:yeah:

Grega starting the season in Doha against the Fog.
12-30-2012, 01:33 AM
Then it would be Gasquet in the next round. It's a tough proposition, but it's all about the time on court now. The key months for Grega will be February and March.
01-01-2013, 09:14 AM
Grega beat Fognini 62 36 64. Should've won in 2, he was dominating until 62 *21. Serving stats were bad, he'll need to play much better against Gasquet to have a chance.
01-06-2013, 03:30 PM
He gave it his best crack but couldn't stomach serving for the match, unfortunately. Great serving, however. Nearly twenty aces is impressive, even in a long three-set match.
Next week he's playing Auckland, and he's once again right down at the bottom of the draw. First up he'll play Falla and then if he wins it, he'll meet Kohlschreiber. It's a tough ask, but I hope he goes deep here.
01-31-2013, 12:38 PM
Zemlja getting better from the illness hope he can do well this weekend in DC.
03-02-2013, 08:57 PM
Zemlja is having some sort of lung anomaly and will be skipping IW and very likely Miami, too.
Very unfortunate, considering how he has no points to defend this time of the season and then a ton in the second half.
03-30-2013, 10:37 AM
What have I found... It's in the making. It looks good so far.
05-27-2013, 01:44 PM
Grega thumped Giraldo 6-1 6-4 6-1, excellent stats but who knows how the match went without it being seen.
06-28-2013, 02:24 PM
Not bad 3rd round of Wimbledon for Grega. Hope he can take out del Potro.
