I have heard rumors that Stepanek has gotten a fever in front of today's match against Mirnyi. Has anybody else heard anything similar?

I haven't heard anything, but it wouldn't surprise me. I was in Paris earlier this week and there were a lot of colds, chills and fevers going about - just the time of year I guess. It would be a shame - I'm not particularly a Stepanek fan but he's done really well to get this far - hope he can play and to the best of his ability.

Oh man! I hope he isn't sick. He has done so well to get this far (not that Max hasn't!) and he had a great chance of reaching his first final (one of the biggest possible too!) because Max will be so tired and Radek is hardly troubled. If he were to get to the final he would most probably face Mad Marat and ironically he beat him not too long ago.....:)

Thanks, Rosie. I'm not a big fan either, but I think it will be a great matchup if they are both healthy. Mirnyi with his serve and volley game and Stepanek with his new found all court game trying to pass Mirnyi. Let's just hope they will both play to their potential.

Just one message on a betting forum that said he had received mails from people on other atp forums that said there were rumors that Stepanek had gotten a fever, so I just wanted to hear if anybody here knew anything.

Does Stepanek not serve and volley anymore? Sur you're right - if they are both healthy this match could set off fireworks! At full fitness it would probably all come down to tiebreaks and the odd break point.

That's what i thought! Wait a second - how the hell did that retarded Russian lose to him when he thrashed a certain serve-volley Briton the previous day?!!!!! :)

Radek won the second set 7-6(1). Go Radek :yeah: It has been a great match. Lots of serve and volley and quick points at the net. Finally some variety

Good call, jez, seeing as there were only 3 BPs in the whole match!

Why thank you! When these sorts of players meet head to head you know what to expect. Like Canas and Safin also - Canas would fight back after a predictable slow start but sadly he was the victim of outrageous calls. If it went to a 3rd set, the Argie would win. :)
