i think the winner of this match will win this tournament.

kind of an easy one to call i would say, given that the next highest player --canas? -- is around rank 15.

I'll think Safin is the superior player at the moment, but I wouldn't touch this match with a 10 foot pole! (vCash-wise, that is!).

If Safin plays like he did today against Melzer, making only 8 unforced errors in 2 sets, I think he will walk right through Hewitt.

Safin is clearly in a different zone now than he was when they last played in Cincinatti and Lleyton will have to hang in there and hope to frustrate Safin into making errors.

I'll back my man to get the job done, 7-6 in the third.

Don't bet on it. Safin was really upset, couldn't convert break points and won the second set thanks to Jurgen's inexperience. Hewitt won't forgive.

However, Safin loves playing in Paris and the surface is good for him. He has the edge but Hewitt is the fighter. If Safin wins, it will be a fantastic statement. If Hewitt wins, Lleyton deserves No. 2

Well, if you look at their H2H, then it's clear that it's Marat's turn to win! :p

I just hope it's gonna be a great match and Marat won't give up! Lleyki will certainly be fighting. Hopefully Marat will be on court with his head too! :) Then it should be exciting! :bounce:

Can't wait for this match, 2 of my favourites, shame its only the quarters :(

I'll be cheering for Lleyton, but it won't bother me too much if Marat wins.

Just hoping for a good match :D

But I couldn't say I have a feeling for who wins this match, difficult to say. Lleyton wasn't proved yet (Monfils, Massu retirement) since his heart was broken.

Nonsense. Don't go by ranking - look at form. Lopez, Canas, Youzhny have all won titles recently and are in very good form. Soderling, Mirnyi, and Stepanek have the weapons to win as well. The winner of this quarterfinal between Hewitt and Safin is in no way a lock for the tournament.

Methinks Safin will struggle with Hewitt tomorrow.

Intriguing match I will go for Safin and if he plays like he did in their last match in Paris, then Lleyton better admire the quality of Marat's play and it will be over quickly, but that's not likely to happen sadly.

I wouldn't bet any money on this match.

it all depends on this

To OAF or not to OAF ??
that is the question !!!

On an indoor carpet court I would think Safin has to have the edge- BUT, we all know about Lleyton and how he can get under Marat's skin. I'll just sit back and enjoy the match itself, whoever wins wins

Hey Bad Gambler, you think Kostya still has what it takes to beat Shamba after not fighting for 2 years? Will be tough. I'll be supporting him though.

Would love to see him take Sharmba and then move up to welterweight and dethrone Spinks before he retires.

hopefully Marat!!! I think he can do it...he seems to be in great form (though so does Hewitt)...it's a tough one to call...but I agree that the winner of this match will probably win the tournament

hey mate....yeah i have a really bad feeling about the fight.....no one can question kostya's class however like u said he has been out of the ring for a very long time...

BUT kostya is a true professional, argubably the best pound for pound since roy jones jnr in his hay day, and i'm thinking he will win it in a unanimous decision

and i agree with you on the spinks matter....it is the logical move and would be a fairytale ending if he could take all of his belts plus it would undowubtedly be a huge money spinner for him....c'mon kostya!!!

For sure BG, would be awesome to end a career holding 6 belts!

If he comes into the fight in the shape he was for the last fight with Sharmba, Kostya will beat him. Sharmba has looked good of late, but it's one thing looking good against bums and another thing looking good when fighting a machine like Tszyu.

C'mon Kostya and C'mon Lleyton!

Marat seems to be in the same form as 2002, when Hewitt was in form too. I know I shouldn't underestimate Hewitt, but once again I don't think he can hurt Marat in Bercy.

Lleyton was making a few too many errors but the real story of the match was that Safin was too powerful. It took Hewitt a set and a half to adjust to Safin's pace and then he started to get a foothold in the match. Safin was too good on the day though.

Hewitt showed some good fight to get back into the match after Safin was serving for it, but he was basically living off Safin's errors. As soon as Safin's game came together he was a sitting duck (or should I say potato).
