Why are you doing this Julien? Playing $50K challengers...

There's no point in him playing a 50K tourney... this looks too Stevenson-ish for me

I know i was shocked too
Didnt he won an ATP title this year? Or am i confusing him with Escude as always ?

some ATP players play Challengers
others no matter would never.

Novak played one just before Wimbledon
Younes El Aynaoui played some too

There's nothing wrong with this. It's near his hometown, why wouldn't he?

Allez Julien :D

Ivan Ljubicic played here last year as well. They probably play b/c they don't want to go through qualifying in Moscow.

It's just quite weird.

Challengers are made for lower ranked players who need points and money to build their careers.

Mr. Boutter doesn't need that.

Boutter had an elbow injury at the US Open and this challenger was his comeback tournament.

He said Moscow was too high a level for coming back, he felt better starting with a "smaller" tourney.

Also for a French player, to play in France, the week before the Lyon tourney, is nice and makes some sense.
