Hurt since the Davis cup semifinal tie against France in Alicante, late september, Moya tested his shoulder on Saturday in Paris. Still in pain, he was forced to withdraw after being examined by tournament doctor Bernard Montalvan. Moya's withdrawal allows Tommy Haas to become the 18th seed, and Xavier Malisse, who lost in the final round of the qualifying draw, to gain a spot in the main draw.
