OK, how about a contest. Who was the first tennis player at Bercy Stadium this morning? any guesses? Anyway it was cool. :cool: Watched some of the Carraz v Rochus match and then Tsonga v Starache. I really enjoyed it, was in the first row, thats whats so nice about the qualies. :) What else? Malisse was there, Taylor, Tod, Spadea, Gael monfils, Richard, Mathieu, Zabaleta, Dupuis, most of the french players cept Scud Grosjean and llodra, otherwise most frenchies were there. Enqvist stopped by with his girlfriend i guess and i got a nice photo of them smiling together as well as a nice photo of richard with a girl i think. :) otherwise some photos of Zabaleta Mathieu tsonga and maybe a few others. I got a nice shot of Taylors car, :rolleyes: he moved to quick and the camera is too slow to make for nice photos. HOpe to see more tennis tomorrow, unfortunately feel pressure to get home. so ill be there monday too and hope to share photos soon. I met the woman who runs Sportfiles.com and she is cool and im gonna buy some of her photos maybe for RG next year or possibly open gaz. ;) Zabaleta hung around and he was probably the most gregarious of the lot. nice tennis in a nice setting. I encourage all frenchies to go there.

Oh my goodness i am all choked up! :) Yesterday afternoon only GWHitler responded so i figured that nobody was that interested in photos and news from Bercy. Again thank you very much for the positive feedback and this has encouraged me to post more about French tennis tournaments. Yesterday was a good day with a good match from Tsong and Starace. It was a very close first set. I was impressed with Tsonga. When i saw him at RG in May he was not so built. The guy is a brick shithouse now. He is strong and impressed me with some nice touch volleys at net. It was tough knowing who to root for. there was a contingent of young Starace fans in the audience, i like Potito but tend to favour french players. I met a lot of french fans. There were a lot of empty seats and today was even more quiet.

Today Tim Henman showed up and signed autographs for everyone. IN fact his coach called him back once he left to sign for a little girl who wanted his autograph. I got an autograph and i didnt even have to push many children out of the way to get it. I will give it to my English colleague for her birthday. I saw Bjorkman and Woodbridge who walked from the hotel, like crossing the bridge to the stadium as i was walking to get inside today. Taylor practiced very early and was the first guy at the stadium today according to a reliable source. BTW Stephanie Cohen Aloro stopped by today and yesterday. Sanguinetti, melzer, stepanek, henman, soderling Gaudio Mardy Fish david ferrer and malisse were the guys i saw practicing. By the way its very cold in court one cause its an ice skating rink underneath so your feet tend to get kind of cold. i could only stay a little bit today due to personal engagements but hope to get in a full day of tennis tomorrow. if you want to get tickets id be there early cause there are not many tickets left. i only took 6 or 7 pictures today. they wont let you take photos with a flash once inside so i cant take picutres of people playing anymore. I might try to go to Addidas shop as they are giving away tickets for thursdays tennis. then i could possibly go for an hour during lunch one day, otherwise i have to work. :sad: thanks again for the encouragement. I will to put up todays photos later this afternoon.

Thanks :) Thing is i dont have cable yet so i cant really talk about a players game in detail. Hard without professional commentating to see what is happening on the court too sometimes, you really got watch on tv. hope to get cable soon though and then i can add more to the threads cause i will know my faves game better.

Frog, thanks for sharing your experiences, in 99 cases out of 100 it's better to read fan's personal experiences of tennis than what is reported.

The best thing about indoor tennis is that you are guaranteed to see tennis irrespective of the weather, the worst is that the players aren't as accessible as they are at outdoor events.

2 questions in french (sorry the others);

If you can take heaps pics of Mathieu, Clement, don't hesitate to post them
thanks in advance :)

That is Nicolas Mahut. He is a young french player and i am not sure really of his results though i do believe he has beaten some good players. the other blond with a young woman is Jerome Haehnel who won Metz and who actually defeated Agassi at RG last year. Jerome seems to be super super nice. I dropped some stuff as he was walking buy and even with his friend he stopped to help me pick it up.

Hey gang. back from my last day at Bercy. it was really really fun. i dragged a girlfriend with me and she also had a grand old time. first we saw several players arrive. they just scoot right in and rarely get autographs although i did manage to score a clement autograph and a safin autograph and two pictures which i will be sending to dinarasafina.net so she can put them on her website possibly as early as this afternoon in the States. unfortunately Safin signed on his blue shirt in the photo and in blue marker so you gotta turn the photo sideways to see the autograph well. anyway. he looked great and girls fainted and it was wonderful. unfortunaely he and andy who also flew by practiced on court 3 without any spectators so i althoug i saw marat lleyton and Duck i got photos only of marat. Today Robin Hrbaty Jonas and Robredo were signing at the autograph table.

Today was a day to have purchased tickets in advance. i had to by a scalped ticket which i was lucky to get for 20 euros. there were over 200 people waiting to get tickets so i just figured it was worth it to play it safe and just by from the scalper. I ended up selling my tickets when i left for 20 to two fans from England. next year i will buy a couple extra tickets cause im starting to know many fans from going to tournies every year, so i think ill buy a couple extra cheap passes next year just in case a friend wants to come. i think i better clock in a little time and write more about the tennis i saw today. it featured David Ferrer and Mardy fish who both slammed their raquets. and then i saw bits of paradorn and Zabaleta and after Horna and Saulnier. then my friend was falling asleep so we left. hope to post photos later.

anyway, thats about all for me. i may have a few more photos but they the best ones i already posted What is that noise that Mardy Fish makes? Its like super future technology coming out of him, what is that? Anyway it was super cool to see probably my favourite player. and David Ferrer was also great to watch. He is super athletic and seems to have excellent court coverage. They both worked the judge a bit, and mardy asked him a couple times i think if he could really make the call on the other side of the court from where he was sitting. He also said he should speak english cause he couldnt understand what he was saying. Ferrer also worked the judge too and he was pissed off about a few calls. I had to leave the court to make a phone call and barely got back to see the end of the third set unfrotunately but my girlfriend she informed me that Ferrer really slammed his raquet and was wissled by the crowd. Is Fish a good volleyer? It seemed like he wasnt putting the ball away cleanly at times? Then we saw some of the paradorn and Zabaleta match. and after that Saulnier v. Horna. Horna has a nice serve with really nice right to left movement. it was very impressive. I think i could serve my first serve harder than Saulniers second serves. He kind of just blocks the ball back sometimes annoyingly whereas horna is quite lively and hitting the ball hard. i never knew he won cause my girlfriend kinda fell asleep. Oh yeah we also saw Soderling defeat Talor Dent. As a fellow American i was hoping Dent would fight him closer but i dont know why it wasnt closer. maybe soderling had a better day? Soderling had quite a hard first serve when he used it and he seemed to vary it. sometimes smashing it and sometimes going more for placement. thats about all i got guys. I dont write match reports. Hope to see some of you at Roland Garros next year where the sun is shinging and you can actually sit on the toilets....dooooh!

Ditto what Sol said! thanks FrogBurger!!!

I've seen Mardy practicing up close and never remembered hearing him make noises :lol: so I'm not sure what you're talking about there. Typically he is a good volleyer, when I saw him in Houston he and James Blake won the doubles title there and his volleying was pretty much what won them the title over other very quality teams. Maybe he was having a bad day today at net. Anyway, sounds like you had a fabulous time!! :) It's so thrilling to see your favorite players up close and personal, isn't it? It changed the way I look at them as people and also the sport in general :yeah:

I am certain he was making some cool hitech noises. Mardy made noises like zMMMMMMMMMM and other noises when he made a good shot occasionally. Is anyone else aware of him making noises like that?
