The Tour Will Be Weaker Without Federer

Yes, he's gotten olderer, perhaps alot weaker, very much a tirer but something he isn't yet is a retirer.

Much like Murray, he keeps the tournaments alive and there's always the QF and SF presence, so he's got a few years left until others prove they've got the Wilanders to beat the top 4.

Of course it will be, without young players and with only Nadal, Djokovic and Murray

Grass season is already weaker without (the real) him, but for him to retire definitely I guess there will be several more years to wait :)

Besides there are already threads about it.

Fed's like the most loved tennis player around the world, so for sure his retirement would weaken the tour.

The tour will be BORING and DEAD without Roger.

I agree. He should stay around and vulture what he can while getting his ass kicked every time he meets King Rafa or that other guy who just lost in the French Open finals.

Of course the tour will be weaker without Fed. That is most often the case when great players retire.

He hasn't retired yet.

32 GS QF's in a row and counting.

I don't know about weaker, cause Nadal and Djokovic has gotten passed him already. But will he be missed and leave a mark, sure.

Agreed. The tour won't be the same without him.

What happened when Pete Sampras retired ? Did the tour get weaker ? The show must and will go on and on :yeah:

Federer is a much more complete package than Sampras and he really has defined the tennis field throughout his whole career. Never has there been a player who so embodies tennis for the public in the Open Era as much as Federer and the closest to him might have been Borg for a while.

Sampras had Agassi and other players that really stood out, Federer had years of pure dominance. also he has much more personality than Pete and is more active with public.

without Federer we will be missing something in tennis but that said there will always be some things that fill the gaps

Except for Olderer. The game has surpassed him. He no longer can fluke titles when Rafa loses early. That guy who lost in the French Open finals is the missing piece in the puzzle and now King Rafa and that guy who lost in the French Open finals will rule the tour like it was meant to be. Roger did well to dominate the tour in a transitional period until King Rafa burst onto the scene. Now it's time for him to step down with a shred of dignity before he gets ripped apart in another final by his royal majesty, King Rafa or that guy who lost in the French Open finals.

What kind of question is that?:smash:

No, it'll be stronger. And rhinos can fly.

 Of course it will be weaker.

Huh? I thought the game had "surpassed Fed"...just pointing out that you were talking mince. Sure it is harder for him to win slams...but this is normal...time and tide wait for no man. He is still there...winning titles...challenging for no.2 and no.1 in the world.

yes it's a matter of personality and also seductive game, Sampras was great but not the same in these fields.

As for Borg, his end was brutal and quite early, which hurt the tennis world a lot, but apart from that, it was not the same either, and also McEnroe had both the personality and the seductive game which had made many people already define tennis through McEnroe more than Borg.

The tour will be more fun for me without Roger. I like Roger and it pains me when he mugs out against Haas' and people 3 classes below him (e.g Roddick). The fact that he never beat Rafa at RG also pains me a lot. So hope he retires and I can have more fun watching

Dumb thread. The tour is weakened any time a player regularly winning matches retires.
