Having just got back to the Hotel from the match I'm not sure "impress" is the right word RonE...........more like stress me out and drive me to drink! He definately has another injury - had a few medical timeouts - nobody knows so much yet. But - yes he (just about) held it together when it counted. Sorry alfie for Rainer - he played very well for the first set and a half but he seems to have had a major choke when he was a set and 4-1 up - hope you're not too upset. VAMOS DAVID - I need more vodka :p NOW!

I was thinking about you during the whole match. It drive me insane!!!
I agree with you, he defenitly has another injury, he was in too much pain and couldn't hit his backhand well. It was the first time he ever called for a medical time.
I hope it's nothing serious and he can beat Massu tomorrow.
Vamos David!!!

All the more credit to him if he managed to play through pain.

Rainer is a tough nut to crack even if you're 100% fit and healthy. Remember their AO 2003 Quarterfinal? Rainer drove him to distraction in that match. So all credit to David for keeping it together under pressure.

Well it helps when he helps crack himself a little. He was up a break in the second and per the descriptions in the tourney forum, he played a horrific game with three bad errors to be broken back at love.

But, David hung in there, so good win for him.

Hopefully David isn't getting fatigued/injured, he really should have won this far more easily. Good luck against Massu.

I hope David can suck the blood out of El Vampiro, but it's not always easy to beat Rainer and congrats for coming through this match, as WyveN said there would be definitely an element of fatigue, he played Vienna made (QFs), finals in Madrid and the semis here.

Just hope his body can hold up and actually win a title again at the last place, where he managed to win a final.

Nalbandian has not once lost a match in this tournement, the retirement against Coria last year does not count, so I like his chances here to win the title. :)

If he holds up, he can very well do it. If he does, watch this entire board shit a brick.... :o
