True but If you have a great tennis talent (which Tommy has), you can always come back even if you are a bit old. Talent doesn't disapper with injuries. Look at what B. Baker did this year after being so unlucky with injuries in the past.

True, his talent isn't in doubt. But he had so many injuries and surgeries that you couldn't really blame him if he had given up long ago. It's amazing how he kept through it all and is still playing at such a good level.

It'd not be an exaggeration to say Haas is one of the unluckiest players ever to pick up a racket, as far as injuries are concerned. His injury record is just scary.

Yeah, after all these great comebacks, it just makes me sad of what Tommy would have accomplished if it hadn't been for fing injuries.
But I really stopped thinking about his injuries long ago, 'cause nothing I say simply wouldn't change anything.

Over the years, I'm so thrilled he's constantly proving everybody wrong that he should have retired long ago.

As long as I'm seeing that backhand on the court, I'm a very very happy person ;)

Even if I stopped caring about his rankings just as he did, it would be still nice only to see him as a seed at Grand Slams

actually, that time he lost to hewitt in the halle final, federer would say at the end of the year that was the toughest loss of the season.

looks like federer quickly forgot about the halle final he lost to hewitt when he was leading a set and a break up

From today's presser:
Q: In view of what you said can you think back on the emotions the first time you were here in the final?

FEDERER: Yes, because it’s always special winning a title not far away from home. I remember my parents came up to watch me play. It’s a long way. I think I rode back with them to Switzerland and then I would go to Wimbledon. I always played very well here in the final actually. I never had a bad final. I hope it can be again something similar tomorrow.

yes, you're right

Q: Two years ago you were slightly injured against Hewitt. When did you stop having the back problems because they were with you for some eighteen months, werenít they?

FEDERER: I donít think it was the back. I think it was my leg that was hurting but I was still able to play. I should have won on 0-6, 4-4, 0-40 and then he hit a net cord on one of his forehand. Itís a pity because I was in control, I was playing well, I created the opportunities I wanted. I donít think he would have broken me at 5-4 and then he played really well I have to say in the third. He started to return me really well and he just got into another gear which was great to see. But it was still a good final for me. But my back has been under control for maybe somewhat over a year now. Obviously it always flares up from time to time like for any other player. When you change surface maybe you feel it a bit more but itís not like you cannot play. But sometimes it gets too bad like for me in Doha or maybe for Murray in Madrid, he didnít come. I mean youíre able to play somewhat okay but itís just not a whole lot fun playing with it. Iíve been very happy with my back for about a year now or so.

Who won their last encounter on grass ? I can't recall.

Nadal did. That was an incredible match, wasn't it? Fortunately, the H2H doesn't show just the winner of the last match, but sums up the entire rivalry, whether it's overall or on each surface. 2 wins and one loss on grass is a positive H2H, regardless of the order. Same thing goes for HC (6-5). I'm not saying that Nadal is ahead between them for no reason, but while Federer has been making it to almost every RG final (along with other clay events) and falling short only against the king of clay (most of he time), Nadal hasn't been good enough to earn the right to face Fed that often on faster surfaces.

Yes. He's held up his end of the bargain the last 2 years at Wimbledon, but for some reason Roger didn't show up. Same thing at the USO. Rafa doesn't care about the MM tournaments. He's made the final in 8 of the last 9 GS'...waiting for the other half of Fedal to show up. Alas, Roger chose to show up only at RG last year. Who's fault is that

So what? Fed's not been in his prime for a long time, and when he was, Rafa was the one constantly failing to live up to expectations (hence all the finals being played on clay). Let's face it, 2003-2007 Fed would beat 2008-2012 Rafa on all surfaces but clay.

That's your opinion. Rafa wasn't at his prime either at the beginning of their rivalry yet, young as he was, he destroyed Roger on a non clay tournament in their very first encounter...and would have destroyed him for a second time running had the Miami final been the best of 3 as it is now. So you finally admit that Roger is way past his prime. Maybe that realisation will stop you predicting he's going to beat Prime Nadal/ Nole every time he faces them :yeah:

Anyway let's not hijack the thread. Haas is on a mission to pull a Hewitt tomorrow...especially now thay you've predicted a Rogi win. ;)

Oh? So Rafa has beaten Roger 6 times on non clay surfaces whilst Roger has only beaten him twice on clay ? Interesting.

So what? Rafa is dominant on clay like nobody else including Federer ever was, on any surface. And still, this turkey-like H2H doesn't really show what this match-up is about. Please don't bring statistics into this argument, because you are just embarrassing yourself: Nadal did reach almost every final in the last two years, but what about 2004-2008? He dominated on clay since 2005 and reached Wimby finals, but unlike Fed who was always a close second even on his worst surface, Nadal was nowhere to be found on HC. There is no reason to claim that Nadal is as solid on fast surfaces as Federer is on clay. They play 3 clay events a year together, and at least 10 off clay, yet 14 of their 28 meetings were on clay.

BOOM, the fedtards get burnt whenever this issue pops up :yeah:

Fuck off Murray fan.

yes, you're right

Iíve been very happy with my back for about a year now or so.Fed never won 1st set 6-0 v Hewitt in that Halle match, was 6-3 6-7 4-6

lol he thinks of Hewitt and just automatically remembers the bagelling days

The outcome of this tournament explains exactly why the H2H between Federer and Nadal looks like that.

yep. nadal has to be at his very best to reach the finals of some tournament, and Fed on the other side could reach finals even when he plays shitty. a lot of times when pig was there for taking he was loosing to some mugs before he got to Fed . story of this H2H

No. The story is Nadal beats fed :wavey:

consider the match up issue and the fact that Fed was in decline post 2007 as to why he lost so much, not this poor excuse.

Fuck off Murray fan.

My dear Rafa was only 18 in 2004 and 22 in 2008. Surely you did not expect him to be reaching every final on his worst surfaces then did you ? What finals was Roger reaching at the comparable age ? What finals are 18-22 year olds reaching these days ? Exactly. Stop embarrassing yourself.

Because Wimbledon plays so slow like clay that he can reach those 2 finals. The person who has WTA serve wins Wimbledon today.
