Very nice line up of matches at Halle today.

I'm about 30 miles SW of Queens and it's just started raining again.

Not a good day for tennis, it's cold and damp outside!!

I was at Queens yesterday, and was amazed that they didn't start till 12.30pm. Everyone knew that there would be rain around 6pm, and it arrived right on time!! The next few days forecast don't look that good either !!! :(

Thanks for the info. At least today they have scheduled an early start.

May be they start that late because it's more theatrical? Or because BBW Two starts at 13.00 (on the Red Button it probably starts earlier)?

Very nice line up of matches at Halle today.

I think so too, I'm very much looking forward to it. Bummer is that I have to travel for about one and a half hour, and I'm really trying to plan that strategically

Does anyone know if Eurosport (not British) shows Queen's from 12 onwards?

I love how attack-minded Stepanek is today.

It's great tennis to watch.

And I'm impressed with the roof, it closed in under one and a half minute.

Filo V.
06-15-2012, 12:00 PM
Those were some pretty inadequate volleys from Radek to lose the set. Misha is too good a returner, though. This isn't a good match-up for Steps.

It's great tennis to watch.

I'm extremely impressed with the roof myself! The facilities in Halle are excellent overall. And the tennis is also great because it plays like a grass court should.

True, but don't you think the grass at the baseline is too worn down for a court that's been used 4 days?

Cheeky Chick
06-15-2012, 12:15 PM
I have live pictures from Queens and I see the cover is off Centre Court, and the sky looks a beautiful bright blue, so hopefully play will start again soon...

For anyone in the UK with freeview, Queens is on the red button channel 301, then BBC2 will show matches from 1pm - 5.15pm, then it'll be back to the red button. :)

Cheeky Chick
06-15-2012, 12:18 PM
They've just announced - play to start at 12.30pm, so about 10 minutes :)

Filo V.
06-15-2012, 12:30 PM
How many BPs did Misha just have there?

That game alone took 11 minutes.

Filo V.
06-15-2012, 12:32 PM
True, but don't you think the grass at the baseline is too worn down for a court that's been used 4 days?

I'm not sure, maybe. I don't really know a lot about the preparation/degradation of grass courts.

How many BPs did Misha just have there?

That game alone took 11 minutes.

I think it was at least 7-8. Wasn't counting, but Steps had 0/40 and then mostly he was saving break points, not having that many game points.

Filo V.
06-15-2012, 01:08 PM
Thanks. I don't think he had to save BP his first service game of the second set (tell me if I'm wrong) so that means he would have defended 8 BPs in his second service game of set two!

Filo V.
06-15-2012, 01:22 PM
Misha looks a lot more focused this set. I think he's going to break right here.

it looks horribly slow between Cilic and Querrey comparing to Haas-Kohli.

Very beautiful points from Kohli to save break points.

I've seen them both react, it's an up and down match, they adapt sure but they still get frustrated.

I dont think its proper to compare the Haas/Kohlschreiber to Querrey/Cilic, the conditions are just horrible in Queens.

What a story this would be for Tommy Haas.. Laid up after a hip operation from Feb 2010 to May 2011. He has worked hard to get back to this level. Well done, sir.

Fed's not looking in Wimby winning form no matter how many of these tournaments he wins - beating Raonic in a 3rd set breaker, pigeon Youzhny and whoever he beat in the first round hardly means he's ready for best of 5 battles vs Tsonga, Del Po, Novak, Rafa, Berdych etc. His returning is poor and serve weaker than in the past.

Will still win today but nothing to suggest he's in better form going into Wimbledon than last year when he'd got to RG final and had great win over Novak.
