The light clicked on for Grigor after being broken in the first set at 3 all. At that point in the match, Nicolas was serving well on big points, hitting awesome BH returns and being the aggressor, including a BH DTL return to get up *4-3 in set one. From that point onward, however, Grigor was the clear better player, awesome serving, dominant from the baseline moving Mahut all around, some great returns and dipping backhand returns making it tough for Mahut at the net, and good defense. Took him 9 BPs to finally break when Mahut was serving for the first set and after Dimi broke, his confidence level rose and he took over. Great tennis from Dimi and a great win for him.

Beautiful tennis from Grisha. :yeah:

I loved the way he came back in the first set after facing set points.

Nice styles for these courts. Dimitrov moving pretty good on a grasscourt!

Was extremely surprised Mahut was the favourite for this.

Good stuff from Dimitrov.

Good tennis from Grisha. Mahut looked physically out of it at times, but good week for both anyway. Decent chance for Dimitrov to make the final here IMO.

Patrick Mouratoglou is really one of the best coaches to have. He knows how to harness a players ability he did it also to Rezai and Wickmayer those two have a different style than Dimitrov.

Beautiful tennis from Grigor who looks comfortable on the grass. All his talent was on display today and he hit some stunning winners. I loved when he high-fived the line of ball girls when he left the court.

Grigor beat Andersson on grass last year and he's certainly playing well so the next round is winnable

Good stuff. He needs to keep it up against Anderson and he seems to match up well against big hitters/servers. I hope he gets a final place for a rematch of last year's Wimbledon R2 against JWT. A lot of work needs to be done to get there though.

Grisha looked like the sure loser until the middle of the 1st set and then played some GOAT-GRASS-tennis!

Well done :yeah:

strange because I often heard (and saw when I watched him) that his return is one of his biggest liabilities

but Dimitrov surely loves grass and that's a great result for him :yeah:

he lost to Anderson in San Jose after a very disappoiting match for him where he was very near from winning, hope he can change the result this time :)

He won't reach Federer's heights but I do hope that he becomes a top 3 player and win a slam or two.

I know it's very, very odd but I think he, somewhat like RF, just puts the ball into play and can pass these guys. It gives him a good rhythm, strangely enough. His return against smaller guys is poorer which is just stunning...

Great tennis by Grisha, when he is on he reminds me so much of players like Haas or Federer, he has the goods he just needs to be more consistent.

Moved up to 69 in the live rankings with this win. If he can reproduce today's standard of play, he can certainly go higher.

Expected, Nico said he was flat after his match yesterday. Wasn't very fair from the tournament to put him on beginning of the schedule while he finished his match late the day before.

He's an experienced athlete who had only played a 3 set match on grass the day before. That shouldn't have been a problem.
