...both achieve the career grand slam at the same event (i.e. Sharapova & Djokovic)? Has it ever happened before?

It surely must've happened before in an era where you had to adapt from a hard court surface to another, slide to play well on clay or bend your knees to have success on grass, with the latter not being a shootout tournament but instead actually giving the players the opportunity to accommodate to the surface and actually develop a game for it with the volume of tune-up tournaments available.

Well Williams in 2002/3 no, Graff in 1988 no, Budge in 1938 no, Perry in 1935 no, Agassi in 1999 was the same year Graff won?

Answer is no. Emerson won the CGS in 1964, Court a year before at Wimbledon also, thats the closest.

It very nearly happened at RG in 1999. Hingis had already won the 3 other slams and was going for the career grand slam. In the final against Graf she served for the match in the 2nd set, but of course couldn't close it out and her temper get the better of her.

The next day Agassi came from 2 sets to love down to beat Medvedev and complete his career grand slam.

Movement is still an issue but she is much better than she was years ago. She's never really been that terrible on clay, remember that her break through at a slam was the french open
