Excellent, excellent result for Thomas and a major confidence booster, beating the first seed and world number 52 in this fashion.
Hopefully he can leave the injury troubles behind him and return to the top 100, where he belongs.

One has to mention Falla isn't 100% fit though. Said he began to struggle after Madrid, felt pain in his match against Giraldo in RG and has been playing with tape on his leg. Not saying he wouldn't beat a fully fit Falla, because he is certainly capable of doing that and better but I wouldn't read too much into this result. Nice draw ahead now for Schoorel, should take advantage, needs to find consistency.

Falla definitely isn't 100%, but it's a good win for Thomas given where he's been at with his level. Based on the little bit I saw, it wasn't a great match, though. Curious to see how he backs this up vs Vagnozzi tomorrow.

Hopefully this is a sign that the real Schoorel is on his way back.

The Vag played league tennis here in Holland last week, so he should still be feeling love for the Dutch and make it easy for Schoorel.
Wait, I'm an idiot, they played eachother on the 27th and Vagnozzi won 6-1 6-4.

Might be something interesting for the betters here to look at, Schoorel is around 1.50 at the bookies.
