Yes :worship:

Brutal, brutal match. Semjan saved several BPs in a long deuce game at 4 all in the third set. Nando hit a forehand that set up an easy winning shot down MP in the final game but the forehand was called out incorrectly. Nando had to replay the point and double faulted to lose.

Guys ranked outside the top 1000 can be pretty tricky these days, I don't blame him.

Appearance fee well spend.

Nando playing utter crap, he wasn´t even sliding. It was only preparation for grass for money but what a win for Marek Semjan :) Congrats

Semjan lost a close match here last year against Youzhny and got into a big slump afterwards, could barely win matches at Future level. Totally deserved win for him today :D

Good for the game when deserving challenger players beat top 30 players who have no business taking wild cards into these events.

And I say this as a Verdasco fan.

Yup, he doubled down MP  But at that point he was completely mentally gone, especially after the missed linecall.

I was watching this match and Nole-Tsonga at the same time.

I prefer challengers over most GS matches.

I think the only way for top 30 to get to challengers is through wildcards. They cannot get in directly through the entry list.

There should be a rule about the ranking, something like if you are 15th and lose to the 1166th you drop 1000 points so we could get rid of sore loser like Verdasco.

okay, so he took the spot while he still thought Marcel would pass him?? When would that have been? R2 or R3?? It seems Verdasco is comfortably ahead of Granollers... he couldn't have seriously believed Marcel would get past Ferrer. :stupid:

Challenger level players can play ATP players and Futures level players can play Challenger level players. I guess this is what happens when a Futures level player plays an ATP player. To be fair Semjan has been ranked in the top 250, but he has been very poor for a long time (7-29 in his last 36 matches at all levels).

Robredo comes back after a 7 month injury and wins his first round at the Caltanissetta CH 6-1 7-5 over Dusan Lajovic.

Verdasco defeats Nadal in Madrid M-1000 and loses to Semjan in a Challenger less than one month later.

He was being conscious, anything could have happened. Usual top players get appearance fees or gets paid to play in low events.

I think it should be like this - if the winner is ranked lower than the loser then they just swith up their rankings.
It would be some fun tennis.

Anyways, no way in hell Nando would lose to this kind of player on a normal, day-to-day basis.

The hero of the match thus wasn‘t any of the players, but a little ballboy who got hit by Verdasco‘s first serve - which had the speed 178 km/h – right in the face. He had a mark there that was visible from three meters away, but even though he cried a little bit, he returned to his place and refused to leave the court, like a real man. Kudos to him!

So Nando did accomplish something:)))
