Almagro dealt with the heavy conditions so much better. On a sunny day this match could've been close.

Great stuff from Nico.

Tipsy started well, but Almagro was way too good...kept waiting for his level to drop, but it didn't. great performance

too bad he's Spanish...or else he could trouble Nadal

Almagro is the better clay player, so the result isn't a surprise for me at least.

Tipsy had his chances but ultimately he hits too flat for clay and perhaps could've played with better tactics, moving Almagro around more and sometimes wrong-footing him etc.

Well that was a disappointingly brief dose of Tipsy Time.

Didn't think Tipsy would roll over so easily, but the result was NID.

Cabezon was feasting on some pljeskavica. He was loving the heavy conditions pushing Tipsarevic around with ease.

Why does he look like a douche when celebrating?

I just wanna punch him in the face, but i respect his serve.

Russian commentator on Eurosport said that this Almagro is much more of a threat to Djokovic and Federer than Nadal
No-no, don't say that the commentator is dumb.... just Almagro was THAT good....yeah..

Plus, it's always a huge pleasure to watch the fake philosopher in defeat

almagro played some great tennis against a dangerous opponent. a less than stellar performance and tipsarevic could have turned things around. its a shame he has to face nadal next.

Good match from Almagro.

Finally his 3rd Slam Quarter Final (all 3 on clay.)

I really hope he can play even better against Nadal.
He has to raise up his 1st serve percentage.
Then he has a chance.

Nadal vs Monaco followed by Nadal vs Almugro? My God.

Prepare yourselves for two straight set Nadal wins which take around 7 hours to complete.

The finger wag! Almagro is the true No. 1. Transitional, but who gives a fuck.

Terrible to see Mugro prevailing but then again he is better than Tipsy on clay.

Now expect him to crumble like a clown at the sight of Nadal.

Almagro's bh looks very vulnerable to heavy topspin.

Nadal will have a field day.

Almagro I consider a title contender- I´m not joking.
He can akways keep close with Nadal at least
Though he can´t beat Ferrer, so he´d have to pray for a Murray or Gasquet win

Not at all. Almagro´s one hander has always been considered the 1 hander that holds up best. There was a thread on it, he won the poll I think

Even though Mugro's head to body ratio isn't as prominent as it once was, he is still a force to be reckoned with.

Can't wait to watch Rafito beat him in straight sets over 6 hours and mess up the schedule some more.

Vamooos!
Pretty much NID, but still good he delivered and actually gave him no chance after the first 3 games.

Finally a good RG from Nico again. He belongs in the QF every year.

Almagro is the better claycourter so no surprise here. If this was on hard or grass, Janko would have won most likely.

If he beats Nadal (not likely, but it could happen) he has a real shot IMO. Would beat Murray or Gasquet on clay (it can´t be Ferrer) and everyone on the other half is playing awful, if the other finalist is del Potro or Berdych-and it´s wide open half the way fed and nole are playing- he should beat them.

If he wins his next 2 matches (which only has like a 10% chance of happening imo, but still a chance) I think he takes it

Man, that's not happening, not in a million years, not even if Nadal played with a ping-pong racket and on one foot. ;)

P.S. Remember Paris masters embarrassement a few years ago... :o

Maybe, but Almagro more than any other player has really improved mentally in last 3 years. He´ll probably still choke, I think, and I think Nadal would win, but no question I´d bet on Almagro if able, he has a much better chance than he´s being credited with. Though even if Nadal goes out, I would not pick Almagro to reach the final- i´d pick ferrer

I´m not saying Almagro will win the tournament or anything, or even beat Nadal- I´m saying he has a shot and isn´t being given credit for this

You are overhyping Almagro big time, heck I'd love him to win his QF but it's straight out not happening. Can discuss the QF with whoever plays in that thread.

He was impressive here, but conditions worked in his favour and did what was needed.

As soon as the draw came out I locked in an Almagro-Nadal quarter-final. I'm annoyed he has to play Nadal at this stage again, he already lost to him in 2008 and 2010 in RG QFs. Him and Ferrer have got to be some of the best clay courters not to have a Roland Garros semi-final.

Almagro did well here. So much for the view that he can't beat higher ranked players.

Almagro's attitude on court is disgusting, but at least the pathetic and overranked loser lost.

I don't like Almagro as a player/person, but love his game, so glad he's in QF. Tipsy isn't really the kind of player he chokes leads against, so this was kind of expected.

He's the only player in the bottom half with even a remote chance of beating Nadal, but I'm afraid his small time mentality will be his undoing for the upteenth time. He will play great tennis and be close in at least 2 if not all sets, but will fold like a cheap tent as soon as he realizes he can actually win and lose in 3 close sets.

Janko

Almagro's attitude is just unbearable.

Apart from some wild and loud celebrations and carrying himself with confidence, what's so unbearable? I guess retiring from a FINAL when your opponent is just 3 points away from serving it out is much better. Lol.

I don't get it

Anyways, admittedly too good for Tipsy today. He didn't bend over at least, he make Almugro work for it a little bit, and in the end was better when it mattered.

Tipsy might win Eastbourne in a few weeks time.
